Info about Wentworth Woodhouse
Wentworth Woodhouse, one of the largest houses in Europe and two houses of totally different architectural styles built by The First Marquess of Rockingham between 1725 & 1750, the west front of the house in the baroque style & the east front in the later palladian style. The house was sold at the end of March 2017 for £7m following a 5 year campaign by SAVE and the Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust. The Preservation Trust will now embark on a major project to restore the house and open it to the public. In 2013 the total costs of repairs to Wentworth Woodhouse was estimated at £42m. Following the sale, there will now be a public appeal to help raise money towards the costs. Most importantly, the Trust is happy to announce that parts of Wentworth Woodhouse will continue to be open to the public while phased repairs continue.
