Info about Standedge Tunnel and Visitor Centre

Standedge Tunnel is the longest canal tunnel in Britain, taking you beneath the wonderful Pennine countryside.

Located on the first floor of the Visitor Centre is our fantastic Thomas Bourne Room, which is available for your wedding reception.

The room is a fantastic blank canvas, meaning that you can decorate it in almost any way that you like to suit your event! There are kitchen facilities available on the first floor that can be used for cold preparation, storage, and cleaning equipment. As there is no ventilation, our outdoor areas can be used should you wish to provide your guests with hot food. We have great ties with local caterers allowing us to offer a extensive range of options.

The Thomas Bourne Room can accommodate 200 of your nearest and dearest guests, and has 20 long rectangular trestle tables, 25 rouad tables and 200 chairs for your use.

If you are interested in hiring The Thomas Bourne Room, or if you would like a copy of our brochure and a visit to the space, we can arrange a time for you to come and have a look around.

We look forward to welcoming you!
