The chef provided good quality food and a friendly service. We had a five course meal and the mains were much larger portions than expected. Chef arrived on time and the five courses were served on time and in good sequence. It should be noted that you are hiring a chef and not a catering company so once the final course is brought to the table the chef will leave. You will therefore be left with quite a lot of clearing up to do. Final course plates and cutlery, wine glasses, coffee and all the table ware.
The quotation process did not work well. The initial quotation failed to mention that a variation in the main menu choice would result in extra costs and the requirement for a chef if more than eight persons were attending the experience. The chef did not know anything about the discount applied on the initial quotation.
The communication between supplier and Poptop definitely needs improvement to avoid ‘surprises’ between original and final quotations!

Honestly cannot thank Paul enough for the meal we had, every plate was clean and every single person throughly enjoyed every bite!
Paul was such a lovely guy and we all hope one day we are lucky enough to experience his food again.

Great service from initial booking, discussions with Katarina re menus, etc, setting everything up on the day and then clearing up after the event. Several guests said the margarita cocktails were the best they had ever had! The BBQ food was all fantastic and generous portions. The three staff were prompt, super helpful and really polite with great suggestions re timings, drinks, etc. Everything was cleaned up beautifully as well. Would definitely use Ipanema Events again and happily recommend them.

Food and presentation lovely - it made a wonderful birthday treat and the birthday girl was delighted. Only disappointment was that it arrived an hour later than I'd asked for so her husband had had to return to work and couldn't join in the party.

"A few weeks before my event, I changed the date and something on the menu - at no fuss from the Mccallas. From the very beginning contact was easy and regular, payments were straight forward and on the day - I was able to relax and know that guests were in for a treat - not only with the taste of the food, but the service, from the Mccallas, kitchen staff and the waiting staff. I have had many people ask about the caterers since the event and I will be sure to use them again!
