Please, meet Davies & Howell Food Events who are a new supplier on Poptop. Over the last 4 weeks, they have introduced a delivery service and have seen incredible results as shown below.

We asked Kristy and Claire a few questions about their recent success on Poptop and if they have any tips they can share with their fellow suppliers.

Can you give us a bit of background about your experience in catering and when did use form this great partnership?

We completed our Professional Chefs Diploma in London over 20 years ago; since then we’ve each traveled extensively, have run and owned our own restaurants and have basically been living life! As self-confessed foodies, we’ve combined all we know to come together as friends with a shared passion for bringing you a high quality delicious and personalised food service.

We think people are still wanting to celebrate. There are still special events happening amongst families and friends and afternoon tea is a lovely way to celebrate something special

As you offer many delivery options – how are we able to source amazing ingredients during this time?

We are focused on freshness & quality and helping any small local business where possible. Especially fresh eggs (we’re using a lot of them) we get from local farms. We have struggled at times with sourcing flour but we call on friends & colleagues in the industry when this happens.

A lot of the large suppliers that rely on restaurants and pubs for their main contracts are diversifying and supplying domestic customers to their homes. I guess we have all had to change the way we do business!

Why do you believe your afternoon tea package has been so popular, why is this such a demand during quarantine?

We think people are still wanting to celebrate. There are still special events happening amongst families and friends and this is a lovely way to celebrate something special.

Have you any tips for catering suppliers who want to offer delivery during quarantine?

A lot of the large suppliers that rely on restaurants and pubs for their main contracts are diversifying and supplying domestic customers to their homes. I guess we have all had to change the way we do business!

Have you any tips for suppliers in general on how they can use this down time to push their business forward?

It’s about adapting and making changes. This has put us all in difficult circumstances in different ways and we think some of these changes might be here to stay. It’s a great time to reassess some aspects of your business and make subtle changes without it costing too much.

As a new supplier – how has Poptop helped your business during this time?

Yes – it’s been a great platform and we only wish we could deliver further afield but we are having to stick with quite local deliveries for the moment.

This is truly an inspiring story of how to adapt to the market and make the most out of the current situation. We advise all our suppliers to follow these tips and update your Poptop profile to the best it can be. This includes updating ALL your Instant Quote packages:
