Welcome to Supplier Superheroes! A brand new feature where we sit down with Poptop’s best suppliers and find out the secrets to their success. For our first edition, we couldn’t think of a better example of Poptop supplier superheroes than Chef Lopez.

Chef Lopez joined Poptop a little over six months ago. In that time, he’s become one of our best-performing suppliers. What’s his secret? We asked him to give us a quick low-down on his time with Poptop. Read on to find out more!

Don’t be afraid to ask for help…I’ve got POPTOP on speed-dial!

Give us some back story on yourself and your business. What got you passionate about your craft?

From as young as I can remember I always wanted to be a chef, growing up around my grandparents in Spain who were also chefs and ran their own restaurant, it was the smells, textures, and tastes that triggered my interest and to this day I base my recipes on their authentic cooking.

I’ve been a chef for over 17 years and a Head Chef for 7 years working for some of London’s top restaurants and hotels; The Ivy (original), Capital Club, Kensington Roof Gardens, La Bodega Negra, and the Montcalm Hotel to name a few.

Why did you first sign up to Poptop? AND WHAT WE’RE YOU HOPING TO GET FROM IT?

I signed up to Poptop to increase my customer reach. It has been a great platform to generate new leads and we have learned a lot over the past year. Since being on the platform, we’ve been growing our business and started offering lots of menus. The site is really easy to use as we’re able to upload a variety of menus, unlike other listings sites.

You get a tonne of bookings through our platform. What do you think it is about Poptop that works for you and your clients?

I have found that some customers are hesitant when booking directly and like the protection a third party like Poptop provides. An accurate diary is key – I’ve got a lot more organised with my availability and sync my calendar regularly to ensure we are up to date and that we don’t get double booked.

You’re a great example of how suppliers can use Poptop to help grow their business. What advice would you give to Poptop suppliers who want to see numbers like yours?

My advice would be, don’t be afraid to ask for help. Even if that means asking another caterer to collaborate with you it is only going to help you provide a better service.

Poptop offers lots of support if you want it. I always attend the Zoom calls and webinars, as I can pick up tips, tricks, and ideas of things that I hadn’t thought of. I’ve also got Poptop on speed dial!

What’s next for you and your business?

We don’t want to say too much but are continuing to grow the business and expand our services in 2022. Changing the World One Bite at a Time!

  1. Are the zoom calls and webinars for pro members only?

    • Hiya Josh! Apologies for the delayed response.

      We have a handful of webinars specifically for pro and gold members, but we also offer loads to Basic members too – for example, our ‘calendar with a coffee’ webinars we ran all through last month. Just keep an eye on your inbox for future sessions – we typically run one a month or so, on various different topics.
