Debbie and the team did a fantastic job catering at our wedding reception. Everyone is still commenting about how refreshing and different the concept was to have and loved all the food. The service was too notch, Debbie is very responsive and nothing was too much to ask. Would highly recommend this catering company.

We held a corporate event at our premises, Debbie was great to deal with and we were able to discuss a slight change to the 'menu' as we already had dessert and drinks catered for at the party, this was no problem for them and made everything so much easier! The food was fantastic and we would not hesitate to use Spice It Up again in the future!! Massive thanks to Debbie and her team for playing such a great part in helping to make our event memorable and successful!

Caribbean food is sunshine on a plate. If you’re planning a wedding in a garden, a milestone birthday, a village fête or a corporate family day, Caribbean catering brings colour, spice and a laid-back party spirit. In this guide we explain the options, prices, logistics and smart ways to book, so you can hire Caribbean catering in the UK with total confidence.
What You Actually Get With Caribbean Catering
Caribbean caterers usually specialise in one or more formats. Knowing the difference helps you match the service to your crowd, venue and budget.
Jerk BBQ grills for that smoky theatre, perfect for open-air parties, sports club lawns and festival-style layouts.
Buffet spreads with chafers, ideal for village halls and barns where guests can help themselves in waves.
Bowl food for roaming receptions, great for anniversaries or corporate mingles where you want movement and conversation.
Street-food vans for a compact, all-in unit, brilliant when access is simple and you want a strong visual.
Set plated menus for seated dining, a smart option for garden weddings that want relaxed elegance.
Expect classics like jerk chicken, curried goat, brown stew chicken, rice and peas, macaroni pie, plantain, coleslaw with a citrus twist and fresh salads. Vegan guests are well covered through callaloo, ackee and veg, chickpea curry, pumpkin stew and fragrant rice dishes. Most suppliers bring serving ware and disposables, and many can add staff, crockery and cutlery if you prefer a more formal finish.
When Caribbean Catering Is the Perfect Fit
Caribbean menus shine at events that need flavour, warmth and easy service. Here’s where they really deliver.
Garden weddings where the ceremony drifts into a tropical garden BBQ, steel pans on the playlist, cocktails under festoon lights.
Big birthdays that want lively food without a sit-down fuss, think bowl food or a generous buffet with jerk, slaw and soft rolls.
Village fêtes and community days where a festival-style food court is the draw, queues move quickly and families are happy.
Corporate family days that need something crowd-pleasing, familiar yet exciting, with options for kids, vegans and gluten-free.
Planning for Different Spaces
Caribbean catering adapts well to the UK’s favourite event settings, as long as we cover power, access and weather.
Private gardens: ideal for grills and buffets. We’ll check level ground and route to the setup area, then plan wind protection for the BBQ.

Jamaicing Me Crazy is our take on Jamaican street food—fresh, spicy, and perfectly balanced between heat and sweetness. Choose your filling: Jerk Chicken Thigh, Slow-Cooked Jerk Beef, or Mixed Bean & Jackfruit Stew (vegan). Served over coconut rice and beans, topped with pineapple salsa, and paired with warm flatbread for scooping. A vibrant taste of the Caribbean that brings sunshine, spice, and soul to every bite.
About supplier
We are one of the largest on-the-road-only street food companies in the UK. After falling in love with the street food industry as a teenager, we have been continually growing this business for the last 14 years. Beginning with our Mexican menu in 2010.

Curated suppliers
All Poptop’s suppliers are rigorously vetted and approved by our team of party experts, ensuring you book the very best.
Marquees and stretch tents: excellent for festival vibes. Position the grill outside, keep serving inside, and allow a safe airflow.
Barns: generous prep space and rustic charm, perfect for buffets and plated menus, with a clear service route from kitchen to tables.
Village halls: a budget-friendly choice. Caterers bring hot hold kit and serving stations, you bring the neighbours and the bunting.
How Pricing Works
Budgeting is refreshingly straightforward.
Typical price per person sits between £15 and £28, depending on format, menu breadth, travel and staffing.
Many suppliers work with a minimum spend, usually £900 to £1,800, which suits guest counts from roughly 40 to 100 plus.
Buffets and BBQs are the most cost-efficient for larger groups, while bowl food and plated service add kitchen labour and equipment.
Children’s portions, late-night bites and premium cuts like king prawns increase the overall spend, so keep an eye on those wish-list extras.
Pro tip: if guest numbers are borderline for the minimum, pad the booking with welcome snacks or a dessert add-on. You meet the spend and guests feel wonderfully looked after.
Sample Menus That Always Land Well
You want choice without chaos. Two or three mains, two sides, a salad and a vegan hero dish is usually the sweet spot.
Jerk chicken, curried goat, jerk jackfruit, rice and peas, coleslaw with lime, green salad with mango dressing.
Brown stew chicken, BBQ pork shoulder with pineapple glaze, pumpkin and chickpea curry, macaroni pie, plantain, cucumber and tomato salad.
Bowl food set: mini jerk chicken with rice and peas, veg curry with coconut rice, crispy plantain with citrus slaw.
Add-ons: festival dumplings, corn on the cob, hot sauce bar, coconut tarts or rum cake slices.
Keep the heat level approachable, then offer chilli oil and scotch bonnet sauce on the side. That way your spice lovers are happy, and no one is caught off guard.
Service Formats Compared
Each style changes guest flow and atmosphere. Pick based on how you want the party to feel.
BBQ station: theatre, smoke and speed. Works best outdoors. Brilliant for tropical garden BBQ themes.
Buffet line: generous and relaxed. Great value for big birthdays and village halls.
Street-food van: neat footprint and strong curb appeal. Perfect for festival-style food courts.
Bowl food trays: keeps people moving, ideal for corporate networking.
Seated plates: structure for speeches and toasts, a lovely balance for garden weddings in marquees.
Logistics You Should Sort Early
Caribbean catering is simple when the basics are locked in.
Access and parking for vans or trailers.
Power point location, or confirmation that the caterer is fully gas and self-sufficient.
Hand-wash facilities, water access or a plan for brought-in supply.
Wet-weather cover for BBQs, sidewalls for marquees and a serving layout that keeps queues off the dance area.
Waste plan, especially in village halls or private gardens.
If you’re in a residential area, set cooking times that respect neighbours, then move service indoors as the evening rolls in.
Dietary Needs and Inclusive Menus
A good Caribbean menu handles allergies and preferences with ease.
Vegan and vegetarian: jackfruit jerk, pumpkin curry, callaloo with coconut, seasoned rice, plantain.
Gluten-free: most grilled meats, rice and peas, salads and many stews work well.
Halal: many suppliers can source halal chicken and goat on request.
Low spice or kids’ plates: marinated, not fiery, plus sides like mac pie and corn.
Share the needs list at the quoting stage. You’ll get accurate advice and a crystal-clear plan, which makes service smooth.
Portion Planning and Service Timing
Worried about running out? We’ll help you portion like a pro.
Daytime fêtes and family days see bigger appetites, especially after sports and games.
Evening parties often eat later and favour second helpings once the music starts.
A typical rule: one protein and one veg main per person on buffets, with sides in 1.5x volume.
Keep desserts simple, think rum cake, tray bakes and fruit skewers that can be served fast.
Stagger service with call-outs per table or zone if numbers are high, it keeps queues short and energy up.
Styling the Experience
Food is centre stage, but the little touches tell the story.
Tropical garden BBQ: banana leaves as runners, bright napkins, recycled palm plates, a soft reggae playlist.
Festival-style court: chalkboard menus, string lights, coloured flags and a few picnic benches facing the grill.
Family-friendly jerk picnic: gingham blankets on the lawn, sunscreen station, lemon water urns and a kids’ activity corner.
These details cost little yet elevate the memory, and photos look fantastic.
How to Compare Caribbean Caterers
You’ll see lots of great options. Shortlist like this and you’ll land the right one fast.
Check the exact service format, grill station or van dimensions and whether they bring gazebo cover.
Ask for a clear list of what is included, from fuel and serving gear to staff numbers and cleanup.
Look for recent reviews that mention communication, flexibility and punctuality.
Confirm certificates, insurance and food hygiene credentials.
Request a sample menu with vegan and kids’ choices, then agree spice levels and any must-have dishes.
If two quotes are close, choose the team that communicates best. Good communication is the best predictor of a smooth event.

Sustainability and Smart Choices
Tasty food and thoughtful decisions can live happily together.
Choose compostable plates and cutlery where possible.
Pre-select a balanced menu to reduce food waste.
Provide labelled bins near the exit of the serving area.
Ask the supplier about local sourcing of meat and veg, many already do this.
