Absolutely brilliant. These guys were from the begging to the end. Everyone loved them playing and would have kept them longer had they not had another booking that evening. Everyone commented on how lovely and engaging they were in conversations along side the music

It was a very hot day yet still Joseph played and sung wonderfully. Joseph sung an array of cover songs in his style. His music was perfect for our daughter’s 21st garden party. I would highly recommend.

Chloe was perfect. She has an incredible voice and wonderful personality and perfectly complimented our wedfest themed wedding. She played while
Our guest arrived - for which we had many compliments throughout the day about her and then again after food while our reception guest arrived. Her song selection was vast and her renditions of songs were well thought out and performed. A special thank you for playing the reason as this is special to me and my husband. Would highly recommend to anyone wishing for an acoustic set wether for a wedding or other event. If we ever need someone again we will give Chloe a shout.
So much love and we wish you all the best for the future - may it be successful and bright.

It is rare to find someone so professional. Annelise since the first contact I made has been so thoughtful and really kindly explained each step of the process. The communication was great, for quick messages we used WhatsApp. Organizing a wedding is not something you do on a daily basis I did not have any experience with live music or even knew what I really wanted. She gently guided us in the process, provided videos and audios of her previous performances, and let us focus on shortlisting our favorite songs while she was taking care of all other logistic details with the venue. On the Big Day, she arrived on time, her presence was really elegant. For 3 hours we have been her priority, when we needed the flexibility to move the dancing on the first floor because guests preferred to gather there, she quickly moved her equipment. She has been able to create an amazing atmosphere, I do have incredible memories, from the first dance to the last family dance with all our children hugging each other and sharing this special time together. I would definitely invite her to other big occasions in our life.

When a soul singer is the perfect fit
A great soul vocalist lifts the room without taking over the whole production. They’re ideal when you need high-impact music that’s easy to set up and works across ages and tastes.
Village weddings: an acoustic soul welcome during drinks, Motown classics over dinner, then a feel-good singalong to kick off the evening.
Corporate roadshows: polished, radio-friendly sets at sensible volumes that keep energy up while you network.
Private dinners: intimate vocals at conversational volume, with the option to pivot into gentle floor-fillers between courses.
Birthday house parties: compact gear, quick setup, big tunes, minimal fuss.
Typical spaces for these events include barns, marquees, manor houses and restaurants. A good singer adapts to the room: tasteful and low-key when needed, or full-throated floor-fillers when it’s time to move.
Popular themes and set ideas
You don’t need to reinvent the wheel. A clear theme helps the singer shape the night and gives guests something to latch onto.
Soul Classics & Requests: think Aretha, Marvin, Otis, Dusty, and modern soul-pop favourites. Add a handful of personal requests and you’ve got a crowd-pleaser.
Motown Dinner Set: smoother, mid-tempo hits delivered at a comfortable level while guests chat and dine.
Acoustic Soul Welcome Drinks: stripped-back guitar or keys with velvet vocals as people arrive, perfect in courtyards, barns and foyers.
Pro tip: split the booking into two or three shorter sets rather than one long block. It preserves the voice, keeps energy fresh, and lets the singer match key moments: arrival, meal, and party time.

Curated suppliers
All Poptop’s suppliers are rigorously vetted and approved by our team of party experts, ensuring you book the very best.
For a solo soul singer with professional PA, expect most bookings to land between £350 and £700. Where you’ll sit in that range depends on:
Set length and number of sets
Day of the week and season
Travel distance and arrival time
Extras such as DJ-style background music in the breaks or learning new requests
If you’re looking at the lower end, think one compact evening set on a weekday, local to the singer. Upper range typically covers weekend peak times, more time on site, extended sets or additional equipment. Always check what’s included: a quality PA, a sensible arrival window, and background playlists between sets are common.
Solo, duo or small band?
You can keep it simple with a soloist, or scale up without losing that soul vibe.
Solo singer with backing tracks: the most budget-friendly and flexible option. Great sound in small to mid-sized rooms with a tiny footprint.
Singer + guitarist/keyboardist: warmer, more organic; lovely for ceremonies, receptions and dinners.
Compact function trio: vocalist, keys/guitar and light percussion for a fuller live feel while still easy to set up.
If you’re torn, book a soloist for the day with the option to add a musician later. Many singers work with trusted collaborators and can scale as needed.
Sound, space and tech made easy
You don’t need to be a sound engineer. Here’s the minimum to plan for:
Power: one standard socket near the performance area
Space: a couple of metres square for a soloist; more if adding keys or percussion
Volume: indoor venues with neighbours may need earlier finish times or reduced levels; your singer will manage this
Setup: 30–60 minutes is typical, plus a quick sound check
Weather: marquees and outdoor spaces need cover and dry ground; rain and electrics don’t mix
If you’re in a barn or large marquee, ask about a slightly larger PA or a small sub for a fuller low end. For particularly echoey rooms, a carpet or rug under the performer helps tame reflections. Your singer will advise.
Building the setlist that actually works
The best nights balance your favourites with trusted floor-fillers. A smart structure might look like this:
Arrival: acoustic soul welcome drinks
Meal or main mingle: Motown dinner set at comfortable volume
Party kick-off: soul classics plus modern singalongs to get feet moving
Finale: a big closer everyone knows
Requests are welcome, but try to limit brand-new learns to two or three songs. That keeps rehearsal time sane and the performance strong. Share any “must-play” and “please-avoid” tracks when you book.
How far in advance to book
Prime Saturdays in summer go first. For weddings, aim for 6–12 months out; for corporate and private parties, 1–4 months is common. Short notice is still possible, especially mid-week, but you’ll have fewer options. If your date is fixed, confirm early and relax.
What we need from you to lock it in
You’ll move faster if you have the basics ready:
Date, location and rough timings
Guest count and age mix
Venue type and whether there’s sound limitation
Preferred theme or must-have songs
Plan for power, cover and parking
Once those are set, we can match you to singers who fit both the brief and the budget.

Host a party that will be remembered
We specialise in services that make guests say “where did you find them?” From acoustic soul welcomes to late-night classics, we help you shape a programme that feels distinctive and fits your style.
Book with confidence and complete security
Every supplier is vetted. If something unexpected happens, we’ll help you secure a suitable replacement. Together with our money-back guarantee, that gives you proper protection from the moment you book.
Example packages that work
Use these as a starting point and adjust to taste:
Welcome & dinner: two 45-minute sets of acoustic soul spread across arrival and the meal, with curated background music in the breaks.
Evening lift-off: one 60-minute party set after speeches to move guests from chatting to dancing.
All-in evening: two 45-minute sets, early setup before guests arrive, and DJ-style playlists between sets so the atmosphere never dips.
All three usually sit comfortably within the £350–£700 bracket for a soloist, with the all-in option toward the upper end, especially on Saturdays.
A simple booking plan you can copy
Define the shape of your event: timings, theme, and how you want the night to feel.
Set a sensible budget: £350–£700 for a solo singer covers most UK bookings.
Shortlist three singers whose demos match your vibe.
Share your essentials: venue details, arrival time, and up to three must-play songs.
Confirm the booking and lock in logistics: setup location, power, and plan B for weather if outdoors.
Final check a week out: timings, first dance length, and any announcements the singer should make.
Enjoy the show while we keep the behind-the-scenes calm and coordinated.
Why soul works so well across the UK
Soul is universal. It’s nostalgic without feeling dated, modern without being shouty, and it sits comfortably in barn weddings, sleek corporate launches, cosy restaurants and bustling house parties. It gives you warmth during the quieter portions of the day, and it flips seamlessly into singalongs when the glasses start clinking. That versatility is why soul singers are among the most rebooked acts on our platform.
Ready to hear your event come to life?
Tell us your date, guest count and postcode, and we’ll show you available soul singers with instant pricing. Choose your theme, drop in your must-plays, and we’ll handle the rest with the friendly support and security we’re known for. Let’s get your entertainment booked today, so you can focus on enjoying the celebration.
