Recent review: Well, I spent a good couple of months planning for this event. It was a surprise to my wife to celebrate 10 years of marriage. Once I had gotten confirmation French Chef At Home would undertake the event all went smooth as, as I chose the menu and liaised with Yves and Anne to make the day special. The first my wife knew about it, was when Yves turned up at the given time in his car sporting the French Chef logo. We quickly introduced ourselves to each other and Yves made good use of the facilities our kitchen had to offer. There was no fuss, it was almost as if Yves knew the kitchen like the back of his hand. I and my wife and our guests for the day drank cocktails while Yves prepared and cooked the food. We originally ordered a 4 course meal but it became apparent that Yves had in mind to bestow upon us a 5 course offerings. He was warm and polite, very professional, and my wife and guests were mesmerized as he served each dish from starters to deserts. There were bite size starters of quail eggs and fish, served on mini popadoms and breads. This was followed at leisure by scallops with asparagus with a fantastic sauce. For the main meal we chose Lamb shanks, and I could not begin to allay to you just how fantastic this main meal was, with offerings of a unique and very tasty gravy with veg and i think a polena wedge. I could not help but think this was probably the best meal I had ever had in my 50 years of living. A desert followed, then the final course of a cheese dish. All the while Yves was very professional. We sat there astounded as each dish came to our pallet. I had to make a mental note to slow down and savor each dish. We took photographs and Yves allowed us to take photos of his very aesthetically prepared cooked food. I could not have made the day any better. Still now, my wife and I are sat here humbled by the event. There was no rush, nothing was forced or insincere, it was without doubt, what every couple could want from a professional chef for a special event. Once the meal was over, Yves cleared up the kitchen and left us to continue the day with cocktails. But when he had gone, we could not stop admiring his culinary skills. What a fantastic day, and a great chef who was warm, sincere, and very skilled in his art. Both my wife and I would greatly promote French Chef at Home. To top it all, for a party of four, the fee was extremely reasonable. We spent the rest of the day till the early hours, enjoying the occasion before falling over late on. Recent review: We booked Real Food Chefs to help celebrate my wife’s birthday with a small dinner party. Marcus and Davis were warm, friendly, the food was fantastic and the kitchen was left sparkling clean. From our initial booking Marcus offered a brilliant menu with lots of variety and kept us up to date in the run up to our event about the great local produce he’d be using, which was a really nice touch. On arrival Marcus and Davis were so friendly, we felt instantly comfortable having them there. They were there to answer any questions and tell you about the food, but not intrusive and never too much. The main event, the food, was phenomenal and was incomparable to our other experiences with private chef hire. The flavours were well balanced, food beautifully cooked and well presented…so good I forgot to take any pictures! As a meat eater, I’m always reluctant to try my wife’s vegetarian dish, however the vegetarian wellington was so tasty I had to try it a couple of times. At the end of an amazing three courses, I headed to the kitchen, nervous of what I’d find and to my complete surprise the kitchen was tidier and cleaner than Marcus had fount it, crazy considering he’d prepared so many different dishes for each course. Thank you again for a lovely evening, we will be booking Real Food Chefs again soon.

Recent review: "What an excellent chef! Karl provided a birthday celebration dinner for 23 of us staying at a large house in the Peak District, and we were all very, very impressed. From the first time we made contact, Karl's enthusiasm and attention to detail really stood out. He was more than happy to discuss the menu in detail, and was very flexible and accommodating. Above all else, he was passionate about ensuring we were completely happy with our choice and the service he provides. On the day Karl and his team turned up on time, smiling and ready to get stuck in. As advertised, we then left them to it whilst they efficiently prepared the food and set the table, with minimal fuss or drama. Our chosen menu included the feather blade of beef and chocolate fondant: both were delicious. It was abundantly clear that Karl not only uses high quality ingredients, but is also a very accomplished chef. Quite how he manages to produce this sort of food on this scale using someone else's kitchen is beyond me. They also left the kitchen spotless. We have used similar caterers before, but Karl and his team were clearly a level above, and yet were no more expensive. So excellent food, great service and fantastic value. Thank you Karl. You come highly recommended and we will definitely use you again."
