Jools performed a crowd pleasing performance, multiple guests commented on the wonderful ambience created by his performance as well as adding to the exhibition preview. Personally, I thoroughly enjoyed working with Jools even though it was only for a couple of hours, he was a pleasure to have at our private view and would recommend to anyone!

Lauren was punctual, professional and played fantastically on the day. I booked Lauren with about a month to go and she was very accommodating under such short notice. She was able to play all of our song choices which I'm so grateful for. Poptop had the booking down as "2 x 45 minute sets" but Lauren only played one set. However, she did arrive with plenty of time to set up to ensure everything was ready for the ceremony. Other than this misinformation, I was really pleased to have Lauren play at my wedding and would highly recommend her.

The Surrey Pianist played at our daughters wedding which was held in a country setting. In the months before the ceremony, he took time to find the couples requirements and matched them perfectly. He had to travel a fair distance at the start of a busy Easter weekend and was ready, set up and waiting, not complaining about being tucked into the last spare corner. I imagine he is used to grander venues. The weather was perfect (I can't claim he can arrange that of course). However, this meant that the sunshine, breeze and birdsong streamed into the barn. Jon complemented this perfectly with his beautiful piano playing. He managed to perfection the timing of a modern adaptation of Wagners 'Hear Comes the Bride' (By Jonathon Cain), so that he was at the right point as the bride and her dad walked in. There was not a dry eye in the house. A selection of songs were played for the signing of the register and for a change of tempo, he played the happy couple out with a rendition of 'Bear necessities'. I received many complements from guests. Anyone considering using a CD for their wedding, think again. This is fabulous. Highly recommended. 5 *+

Hire a Violinist in the UK: The Buyer’s Guide

If you’re here, you’re already picturing that first note floating through the room and turning a special moment into something unforgettable. We’re with you. Violinists bring atmosphere that feels both refined and modern, and in the UK they’re some of the most adaptable performers you can book. In this guide we’ll walk you through when to choose a violinist, how to match styles to your event, what venues work best, what to budget, and how to book quickly with complete confidence.

Why a Violinist Works for So Many Events

Think of the violin as a musical chameleon. It can lean classical for the aisle, switch to chart hits for a drinks reception, then step into a DJ collaboration for the late set. That versatility means one booking can cover multiple parts of your day without fuss. It also travels well, which is a big win for UK events spread across barns, holiday lets, boutique retreats, private homes and garden marquees.

What guests remember is how the music feels. A violinist fills a room without dominating it, so conversations stay comfortable and energy builds naturally. For smaller gatherings the sound is intimate, for larger parties an electric violin and compact PA give you presence without taking over the space.

Event Ideas Where a Violinist Shines

We see violinists booked across a wide range of occasions, but a few stand out.

  • Elopements where you want something beautiful, simple, and portable
  • Destination style countryside weddings with open-air drinks and rustic barns
  • Intimate dinners where music should be elegant but unobtrusive
  • Pop up brand activations that need modern, high impact sound with minimal footprint

For weddings, the format that works every time is ceremony, drinks, then a short early evening set. For corporate or brand moments, think short punchy appearances with familiar songs that cut through ambient noise.

Venues and Spaces That Love Live Strings

The violin is friendly to spaces that can be tricky for other acts. Holiday lets, private homes and boutique retreats often have sound limits or neighbours who appreciate a lighter touch. A violin fits perfectly. Barns and marquees benefit from a clean, amplified tone that won’t bounce harshly. In heritage buildings or smaller city venues, acoustic or lightly amplified strings feel appropriate and premium.

A few practical pointers help everything run smoothly.

  • Access and parking, so arrival and setup stay stress free
  • A flat, dry corner for the case, stand, and small PA if needed

  • A plan for shade or cover outdoors, especially for summer ceremonies
  • A nearby power source for electric or DJ linked sets
  • We can help you sense check all of this during booking so there are no surprises on the day.

Set List Options That Keep Everyone Happy

Your theme can be as structured or free flowing as you like. The most popular approach is a mixed format. Classical or cinematic for the aisle, then modern pop and nostalgic favourites for the reception, and finally a high energy electric set with DJ collaboration later on. It covers multiple audience tastes and stops the soundtrack from feeling too formal or too casual.

A few ways to personalise the music.

    • Pick two or three must play songs that mean something to you
    • Share the general vibe, for example upbeat chart hits, 90s throwbacks, or film themes
    • Leave room for the performer to read the room and adjust in real time

We always advise keeping special requests to a focused handful. That guarantees quality and rehearsal time, while letting the musician curate the perfect flow.

    Prices and What to Expect

For most UK bookings, plan for a budget in the region of £180 to £400. Where you land depends on location, performance length, travel, and whether you want add ons like electric violin, wireless roaming, or a DJ link up for a late set. Ceremony only is usually at the lower end, multiple sets across the day with travel sits higher.

    What tends to be included.

    • Professional performance with violin and backing tracks if needed
    • Short breaks between sets, planned around your timeline
    • Basic amplification where the space requires it
    • Public liability and PAT tested equipment for peace of mind

    What can add cost.

    • Long travel or late night finishes
    • Additional bespoke song arrangements beyond the usual list
    • Extra sets, especially the late high energy collaboration with a DJ

If you want clarity fast, we provide instant, all inclusive pricing so you can make a decision straight away. No chasing quotes, no guesswork.

    Acoustic, Electric, or Both

Acoustic violin has that timeless, hand crafted sound. It suits ceremonies and quiet moments. Electric violin opens the door to contemporary tones and a touch of glamour, great for drinks receptions and party hours. Many performers bring both, which means one booking elegantly covers your whole day from vows to last orders.

    A few selection tips.

    • Choose acoustic first if your day leans classic or intimate
    • Add electric for energy in the evening or to work with a DJ
    • Ask for wireless roaming if you want the performer to mingle with guests

We’ll surface performers who offer the right combination so you don’t have to dig around.

    How to Plan the Timeline

Start at the key moments and build out.

    • Ceremony, entrance, signing, exit
    • Drinks reception, 45 to 60 minutes while photos happen
    • Dinner ambiance, a relaxed set between courses if you want it
    • Evening spark, 30 minutes of electric violin before or with the DJ

Keep your schedule realistic. Shorter, focused sets feel better than one long block. We can help you dot these into your running order so the room never drops.

Working With a DJ or Band

The DJ collab is a brilliant way to lift the dance floor without replacing your main entertainment. The violinist plays over favourite tracks, adding hooks, riffs and crowd interaction. It feels fresh and modern, and it photographs beautifully. If you already have a DJ, we’ll coordinate the tech notes. If you don’t, we can recommend a format that works as a self contained party starter.

Tech essentials are simple. A small mixer feed, a couple of cables, and a line check during setup. We handle that with calm communication so your timeline stays tight.

What to Ask When You Enquire

You don’t need to be an expert to book like one. These questions keep everything clear.

    • Do they cover both ceremony and reception, and how many songs per set
    • Can they learn one or two special requests, including timings for the aisle
    • What is the setup and pack down time, and how much space do they need
    • Do they bring a PA, and is it suitable for your venue and headcount
    • How do they handle outdoor performances and wet weather plans

We gather these details for you, then present it in straightforward language. You know exactly what’s happening and when, which is the fastest route to a relaxed planning experience.

    Comparing Profiles the Smart Way

When you browse on Poptop, set the date, guest count and postcode, and you’ll immediately see violinists who are available and well matched to your event. That saves hours and lets you compare like for like.

    Look for three things.

    • Audio and video that match the mood you want
    • A set list that covers your era and favourite artists
    • Reviews that mention communication, punctuality, and flexibility

If you’re torn between two profiles, we’ll highlight the small differences that matter, for example a particularly strong ceremony repertoire or a great DJ collaboration clip.

What Makes Booking With Us Straightforward

You get more than just a performer. You get a friendly team and a clear process. Our platform gives instant, all inclusive pricing, so decisions are quick and confident. Our suppliers are chosen for professionalism and positive energy, and we make sure communication stays easy from the first message to the final bow.

A few benefits our clients appreciate.

    • A warm, helpful approach from people who genuinely care about your day
    • Fast responses, so planning takes minutes, not days
    • Tailored services that reflect your tastes and special requests
    • Ongoing updates, which means no anxiety about what happens next
    • Everything in one place, from music to food and photography
    • A marketplace full of unique choices that help your event stand out
    • Secure booking with vetted suppliers and a money back guarantee

That combination is what turns a search into a smooth, enjoyable experience.

Common Mistakes and How We Avoid Them

We’ve seen the pitfalls, so we build guardrails.

    • Overloading the request list, which dilutes rehearsal time
    • Booking long continuous sets that tire guests and performer
    • Ignoring weather cover for outdoor ceremonies
    • Forgetting power access for electric or DJ linked sets
    • Leaving travel and finish time undefined

We make sure your plan covers the essentials and your performer has everything needed to do their best work.

    A Quick Planning Checklist

    • Pick your event format, for example ceremony and drinks, or ceremony, drinks, and late electric set
    • Choose your top two must play songs, and share a general vibe for everything else
    • Confirm whether you want acoustic, electric, or both
    • Note the venue layout, access, and power
    • Lock in timings for each set with short breaks between
    • Share any surprise plans so we can help with cues and transitions

Tick these off and you’ll be in great shape.

Budget Clarity Without the Back and Forth

With typical UK pricing between £180 and £400, you’re never far from a smart value choice. Ceremony only tends to sit at the lower end. Ceremony and drinks move into the middle. Ceremony, drinks, and an evening collaboration with a DJ sits higher. If you’re planning multi site travel or a late finish, we’ll include that up front, so the figure you see is the figure you pay.

Instant, all inclusive pricing is our standard. It means you can compare options in minutes, choose the one you love, and carry on with the rest of your planning.

    Make It Personal

Music feels best when it reflects you. Tell us the songs you adore, the moments you care about, and the atmosphere you want guests to feel. We’ll shape the plan with your violinist so the soundtrack follows your story. It might be a film theme as you walk in, a surprise arrangement from your first gig together during drinks, then a violin and DJ moment later that gets everyone on the dance floor.

Small touches like that turn a good event into a lasting memory.

    Ready to Book Your Violinist

If you’ve read this far, you’re more than ready. Set your date, guest count, and postcode, and you’ll see curated violinists who fit your brief, complete with instant prices. Compare profiles, listen to samples, pick your favourites, and message them with any quick questions. We’ll keep everything friendly and fast, we’ll confirm the plan in plain English, and we’ll support you right through to the final note.

We’re here to help you host a party that people talk about for all the right reasons. Book your violinist today and let’s get the music sorted in minutes, so you can look forward to the celebration with confidence.
