Booked for Birthday party

First Class. I booked Phil Preen for a special birthday event. He selected the musicians according to my wishes. Natalie, Norman and Phil’s contribution added to the evening’s success by playing lovely folk music and providing easy to follow instructions. Their performance provided great entertainment and fun for all dancers and non-dancers.

Really great experience with Two Left Feet. They were super helpful in advance in planning and the performance was brilliant. The caller really involved and helped the whol crowd, that was a range of kids and adults, and all the guests left smiling having had a brilliant time. The band helped create a brilliant memory for my wife's 40th birthday party. Thank you so much, from Dave and Ffion in Stockport.

How can I get a ceilidh band to play my favourite song even if it is not on the setlist?
Most ceilidh bands in London will be willing to accept song requests. However, they may charge you an extra fee if your song request is not on their setlist. They will consider your song if it can be performed with their standard instrument because every band has its own inimitable style. So, not all ceilidh bands accept song requests. You can always check with the suppliers on Poptop to confirm if this service is included in their booking option.
How long is a ceilidh band's performance?
Our ceilidh bands available for hire in London have varying set durations, depending on your preference. Sets available include 2 x 45 minutes performances with a 30 minute break, 2 x 1 hour 45 minutes performances with a 30 minutes break, and 2 x 1 hour performances with a 15 minute break. For further details of a ceilidh wedding performance, navigate to the service you are querying for a more detailed description. Their varying set durations provide you with more of a choice in how long you want the performance to last, regardless of the set time - a live ceilidh band is guaranteed to get the party started.
Can I discuss a setlist before the event?
When you hire a London ceilidh band to perform at your event, the band will discuss the setlist with you as the party host prior to their performance - answering any queries that you may have. Each ceilidh band has their own setlist which can be found in the description of the service. It’s important to note that not all bands will accept song requests, however, some of our ceilidh bands will be more than happy to perform your favourite songs on request. Many of our ceilidh bands in London are not limited to just folk music, with some also playing rock and/or pop covers.
Will a London ceilidh band provide all the necessary equipment?
Our ceilidh bands available for hire in London will arrive at your event with their PAT (portable appliance testing) tested sound equipment. Musicians within the ceilidh band will turn up to your event ahead of time to ensure that they have sufficient time for set-up and soundcheck, prior to their performance. Musicians will have a dedicated area at your venue for their equipment, and will clear everything away after the performance has ended, leaving you to enjoy the event along with your guests. Our London ceilidh bands are professional musicians with high-quality equipment to ensure the perfect performance at a ceilidh wedding, or any other event.
Who is a caller in a ceilidh band?
Traditionally, most ceilidh bands are made up of two musicians (accordion and fiddle) plus a caller. The role of the caller is to teach all of your guests the dance. The general format of ceilidh callers is to talk through each move, and encourage your guests to try it out in-turn. After a couple of practices comes the main performance, which is when the incredible ceilidh band will play along as you and your guests dance. Ceilidh callers generally want to make it a relaxed and fun time for everyone involved, even if you’ve never heard of a ceilidh before!
How many guests do I need for a ceilidh?
If you’re looking to hire one of our London ceilidh bands to perform at your next event, then we recommend a minimum of around 8-10 guests to make up one dancing group - but, of course, the more the merrier. For a bigger event, such as a ceilidh wedding performance, between 20-30 people is perfect for the famous Strip the Willow dance. It’s always better to have more people than suggested as it allows guests to sit down and have a breather while other guests get up and dance along, and also not everyone may necessarily want to get up and join in with the performance.
What type of events are a ceilidh band good for?
Our ceilidh bands, London, are an incredible option for entertainment at any event. Ceilidh bands are a great ice-breaker, and they encourage your guests to get up on their feet and mingle with other guests. The friendly ceilidh callers keep the vibe both relaxed and fun, while offering an inclusive form of entertainment that even amateur dancers can enjoy. Whether it’s for a business conference, a ceilidh wedding, or any other celebration - our ceilidh bands available for hire in London are guaranteed to make your next event a party to remember!
When should I hire a ceilidh band in London?
If you’re looking to book one of our London ceilidh bands to perform at your next event, then we recommend doing so in advance so that you have a better variety of bands to choose from. The high seasons for our London ceilidh bands are wedding season, which is primarily in the summer, and the Christmas period. Depending on the ceilidh band you are looking to hire, some are available to accept requests as near as 1 day prior to the event date. To find out about our London ceilidh bands availability for a required date, fill in details of your event above.
