Highland bagpipes always create a spectacle. Sometimes I enter a room and turn heads with the sound of the pipes, sometimes I start away from the guests and the sound drifts over toward the guests. Either way, it is a powerful and touching experience. I also play the quieter and more 'folky' sounding bellows pipes, which are ideal for creating relaxed background music or providing pipe music is smaller indoor functions, or where Welsh, English, or Lowland Scottish music is required.

I have been playing folk music all my adult life, alongside other types of music including jazz. But it's through playing folk music that I fell in love with the pipes. I've been playing pipes publicly now for 10 years. Since I was 17 I've always played music, done gigs, been in Ceili bands, etc.
