Rymah and her husband were amazing!
They were so efficient, friendly and organised. Very professional!
The food was honestly more than I could’ve hoped for. The quality and flavour of the dishes were top notch! The portion sizes were also very generous. We all enjoyed the food, cannot thank them enough.
I hope to use their services again in the future. Will be recommending!

Shahid was very helpful and responsive throughout the booking process and menu selection. On the evening despite a downpour of rain just as he and his wife arrived they put up the stand and got set up so we weren't delayed. The food selection catered for a range of tastes and absolutely everyone said it was delicious with a number of our guests opting for second helpings. Both the chicken and beef were perfectly spiced with the option of a spicy hot garnish that could be eaten along side for those that really like spicy food.
Both Shahid and his wife were delightful and and our guests commented on how nice they were, at the end of the service they cleared down everything leaving our garden spotless. We would definitely recommend them and use them again.

We had InidMax Caterers for my birthday party and it was an absolute pleasure from start to finish. Their food suggestions, communication regarding timings, logistics etc. was always prompt and helpful. Nafish is a lovely guy, friendly and great with guests. The food itself was some of the most delicious Indian food I've eaten in London. It was beautifully presented and everyone came back for more. I'd use them again and will recommend them. Great parties need great food, and IndiMax make great food!
We delivered next level parties for exceptional companies
We also did more than 40,000 birthday parties. Probably, including your neighbour’s recent big bash.
If you’re planning an event in Birmingham and want food that brings people together fast, Indian catering is a brilliant choice. The city’s mix of communities, love of bold flavour, and year-round celebrations means there are skilled caterers for every occasion. We’ve put this guide together to help you compare options, set a realistic budget, and book with confidence. We’ll cover styles of service, menus that work for Birmingham crowds, venue tips, and a simple planning checklist. By the end, you’ll know exactly what to book and what it should cost.
Why Indian Catering Works So Well in Birmingham
Birmingham parties are rarely shy. Guest lists are big, dance floors are lively, and the food is expected to keep up. Indian catering delivers on scale and theatre. Think fragrant biryanis cooked in big pans, live jalebi and kulfi carts to entertain the kids and the aunties, and classic Punjabi feast menus that feel generous from starter to dessert. Whether you’re hosting in a community hall, a cricket club, a hotel suite, or the back garden, the format adapts easily and suits a broad range of dietary needs.
What You Can Book
Most Indian caterers in Birmingham offer several ways to serve your guests. The right choice depends on your event style, timings, and budget.
Street-food service. Compact setups that serve handheld portions such as kati rolls, chaat bowls, or masala fries. Great for outdoor gatherings, casual birthdays, corporate family days, and late-night snacks at weddings.
Buffet spreads. A popular middle ground that balances choice and speed. Typically includes rice, breads, curries, a grilled item, salads, and chutneys. Works in community halls and hotel function suites where guests can help themselves.
Seated banquets. A plated meal with coordinated courses and table service. Ideal when you want to slow the room down for speeches, or build a more formal experience for a wedding or corporate gala.
Theatrical stations. Big-pan biryani theatre, live jalebi frying, dosa griddles, or a kulfi cart. Guests love the aroma and the interaction, and your photos will thank you for it.
Events These Caterers Handle Best
We see consistent success for the following Birmingham event types:
Large family weddings. From mehndi and sangeet nights to the main day, a caterer can coordinate multi-day service with menu variation and reliable timing. Add a live dessert station for a playful finish.

Curated suppliers
All Poptop’s suppliers are rigorously vetted and approved by our team of party experts, ensuring you book the very best.
Mehndi and sangeet parties. High-energy evenings need quick service and colourful food. Street-food formats and buffet stations keep queues down between performances and games.
Community festivals. Big volumes, mixed dietary requirements, and family-friendly serving sizes. Street-food units and biryani pans shine here, especially outdoors.
Corporate family days. You want something fun that doesn’t slow the schedule. Street-food portions and buffet lines move quickly, plus the live stations add a branded moment without fuss.
Venues and Spaces That Suit Indian Catering
You don’t need a huge commercial kitchen to host a proper feast, but you do need the right layout and access. Here’s what tends to work in Birmingham:
Community halls. Excellent value and usually generous on timing. Check for power supply points and a clear route from prep area to service tables. Book an extra set of trestles for a tidy buffet flow.
Hotel function suites. A smart choice for banquets or mixed-service events. Confirm whether the venue charges corkage for outside caterers and where your hot-hold units can sit.
Cricket clubs and sports pavilions. Loads of outdoor space and easy parking for catering vans. Perfect for festivals and family days. Consider a small marquee if the forecast looks changeable.
Private gardens. Lovely for intimate mehndi nights and milestone birthdays. Ask your caterer about shelter for fryers and griddles, ground protection for lawns, and lighting for evening service.
Themes and Menus That Land Well
Birmingham guests know their food, so keep the menu focused and well executed. These themes deliver flavour and theatre without overcomplicating the day.
Punjabi wedding feast. Tandoori starters, rich curries, dal makhani, seasonal veg, fresh naans, and gulab jamun. It feels generous and celebratory.
Big-pan biryani theatre. Aromatic layers built on site and served in steaming portions. Pairs well with raita, kachumber salad, and a crisp poppadom bar.
Halal-led menu design. Many caterers run halal kitchens as standard. Confirm certifications early and plan inclusive options for vegetarian and vegan guests so everyone eats together.
Live jalebi and kulfi cart. A crowd-pleasing dessert duo. The cooking performance entertains while the main room resets for speeches or dancing.
What It Should Cost in Birmingham
Use these ranges as a realistic baseline for the city. Final prices shift with guest count, travel, staffing hours, and menu complexity.
Street food. £12 to £20 per person. Ideal for festivals, garden parties, and late-night wedding snacks.
Buffet. £17 to £30 per person. The most common choice for community halls and hotel suites. Expect two mains, rice, bread, salads, and condiments.
Banquet. £28 to £48 per person. Seated service with starters, mains, sides, and dessert. Higher staffing and equipment needs are built into the price.
Tip: plan service length early. A two-hour buffet costs less than a four-hour rolling service. If you want grazing style across an evening, factor in extra staff and fuel.
How to Plan Your Catering in Five Simple Steps
Set your headcount and service style. Decide whether you’re feeding 80 after a ceremony or 250 across a full evening. Pick street food, buffet, banquet, or a hybrid. This drives everything else.
Lock the venue layout. Confirm door widths, prep space, power, and where hot-hold units can sit. Share photos or a floor plan with your caterer so they can plan stations and flows.
Choose a focused menu. Two great mains beat four average ones. Make room for a signature feature, such as the biryani theatre or the jalebi cart, to give the event a headline moment.
Finalise dietary details. Confirm halal requirements. Collect allergy info with RSVPs and decide on vegan and gluten-free swaps that still match the rest of the menu.
Agree timings and service runs. Put food cue points on your schedule. For example: canapés at 18:30, main service at 19:30, dessert at 21:00, late-night snacks at 23:00. Share it with your DJ and photographer so everyone works to the same beat.
Practical Extras That Make a Big Difference
Warm plates and hot-hold. Your caterer will manage temperatures, but venues can be chilly in winter. Ask about additional hot-hold units for longer speeches or distant dining rooms.
Queue management. Two buffet lines for 150 guests is sensible. Add signage for vegetarian, mild, and spicy options so guests move with confidence.
Scent control. Big-pan cooking smells amazing. If your venue is sensitive, position stations near ventilation and arrange a quick cleanup plan for floors.
Eco choices. Many suppliers offer compostable serveware and minimal-waste setups. If sustainability matters to you, ask for these options early.
Kids and elders. Offer half portions and gentler spice levels. A small side table with yogurt, fruit, and plain rice helps everyone feel looked after.
Street Food, Buffet, or Banquet: Which One Should You Pick
Choose street food if your event is energetic and mobile. Perfect when you don’t want to stop the party for a formal sit-down.
Choose a buffet if you’ve got a mixed-age crowd and want maximum variety at a fair price. It’s the Birmingham workhorse for good reason.
Choose a banquet if speeches and seated service are part of your plan. It looks polished, photographs well, and sets a special tone.
Many hosts blend formats. A popular flow is street-food starters on arrival, a focused buffet for mains, then a live dessert station during room reset.
Dietary Needs Made Easy
Indian menus are naturally flexible. It’s straightforward to build vegetarian and vegan options that taste just as good as the meat dishes. Gluten-free guests can enjoy rice-based plates and grilled items. Nut and dairy allergies require care around desserts and sauces, so get a confirmed allergen sheet from your caterer and keep a labelled plate run if needed. For halal events, specify whether the entire kitchen must be halal or whether you’re happy with separate prep and certified suppliers.
Service Timings That Keep the Day Smooth
Birmingham events often run late because we love a good chat. Protect your food quality with clear timings.
Arrival snacks. If doors open at 18:00, plan first bites by 18:30 to keep energy up.
Main service. Aim for a 45 to 60 minute window for 150 guests on a two-line buffet. Add 15 minutes per extra 50 guests unless you add more lines.
Dessert and tea. Live jalebi or kulfi carts work well as a reset while the DJ gets ready. Serve tea at the same station to keep the room flowing.
