A lively folk/gypsy/ceilidh band with tunes from Ireland, Scotland, Wales, America and England.
We are available for performing concerts, barn dances (or ceilidhs) at pubs, festivals, weddings, birthdays, BBQ's or any other party!
We perform a range of music (both songs and tunes) from a broad repertoire and era from traditional folk to 70's and 80's rock!
We can cater for Scottish 'flavoured' Ceilidhs, although for most Barn Dance/ Ceilidhs we would keep it mixed to allow dancers of all experience levels to enjoy themselves.
Our aim is to 'entertain, not educate', it should be fun after all!

All the musicians in the group are professionals that have trained at music college, made records and have performed on both T.V. and radio, including being featured in 'Loose Ends' on Radio 4.

Dawntreader are a powerful and dynamic Ceilidh Band (Barn Dance, Folk Band) with Caller.
We are a 3 piece Ceilidh Band playing English, Irish, Scottish and some European music. Our mix of traditional folk music with strong melodies and powerful rhythms is ideally suited to Ceilidh and Barn Dances.
Debs, our Caller has 15 yrs of experience in Calling with Ceilidh Bands and has Dances to suit all abilities, including some fun dances for the little ones. She has been the resident Caller with the Dawntreaders since 2009, and has grown with the Band into a highly professional Wedding Ceilidh Caller, although she is equally at home with a local village hall Party. (check the review from The Royal Marines Burns Night recently)
Our Musicians are :-
Lynn Fiddle : I don't need to say much about her playing, the music sample speaks for itself. She is a gifted Musician with ability rarely seen at this level. She plays a 5 string Fiddle, which gives...

Black Velvet Ceilidh Band Trio includes some of the most experienced folk musicians and the best dance callers in the South West. Look forward to punchy jigs and reels, played with panache and a dance caller who gets everyone involved, from ceilidh “newbies” to experienced dancers and makes sure that it’s a great fun event. A ceilidh or barn dance is a brilliant ice breaker at a wedding, birthday or family party. Want a Scottish ceilidh? The band has an excellent repertoire of Scottish tunes and the caller will include “Strip the Willow” and “The Dashing White Sergeant”. Want to go Irish? Irish jigs and reels underpin an Irish ceili, with dances such as “The Siege of Ennis” and “The Bridge of Athlone”. The ceilidh trio is led by virtuoso fiddle player, Mike Evans, supported by either guitar or accordion and a dance caller who will walk you through the dances then call out the moves as the music strikes up. Add more musicians for a larger...

SPINACH FOR NORMAN is a long-established West Country folk band. We’ve been fuelling ceilidhs, barn-dances, weddings and all kinds of celebrations with jigs, reels and heart-broken airs for years. And we’re proud to say that almost every booking has followed a recommendation from a satisfied customer.
Unless you only want background or listening music, SPINACH comes with a caller to teach and lead the dances. Our regular caller is PAM HAYES. She’s hugely popular, great with adults, children, experienced and inexperienced dancers alike. She’ll add some dances from around the world into the mix if you want her to, and she can even call in French.
Hi - we are interested in having your band for our wedding which is at Babington House, Babington, Somerset on Thursday 30th June. Interested to start at 6pm for a couple of hours during the drinks reception. Can we please have a clip of the solo option as we have only heard the quartet.
Also could you please let me know how much extra it would be if javier could play the bridal entrance song which will be at 5pm.
Excited to hear from you and see a clip of you perform
I am planning a 60th Birthday party for my husband to be held at the Royal British Legion Alphington, Exeter. It will have mixed ages from young children to elderly relatives would your entertainment be suitable for that?
We are not in Bristol.. The request form, just doesn't have anywhere close to choose.
I came across your page on this site. We quite like your music.
We are planing a wedding in a tipi, in a tiny village in Cumbria. Its about an hour from Leeds.
Weddings are expensive, so we were staring to think we might not be able to get a band. We really want to. This page suggests you might do it for £400? Its not totally about price. There are plenty bands that will work for less than you that we wouldn't want to have.
Anyways, give me a shout if you can help.
Hi my name is,
Me and my partner mark have booked our wedding for sat 24th sep and are looking for a live music band just like yours to perform on the night.
The wedding reception will be held at:
The verve event space
Please could you quote for 3x40mins
we are having a wedding for around 90 guests and we thought before the DJ kicked in it would be fun to have a ceilidh band to liven the room and get people on their feet.
We didn't really want a slow first dance where everyone watches us shuffle round the dance floor so we thought perhaps this would be a fun thing to do with the bridesmaids and ushers.
Please could you let me know the cost of a session, how long this would be and anything else you feel we should know.
If you could email your reply to it would be appreciated.
I run a pub in hampshire and it is a very well known pub for live music, it has 2 bars and i think the modfathers are brilliant, would love to have them play here and would love a quote from you, many thanks and look forward to hearing from you
We are getting married on 3rd September 2016 in a rustic style wedding in a marquee in a field. The wedding will be in Wimborne in Dorset.
Are you free as we love your band? If so can you please give us a quote and details of what is offered.
hi, yes, its on a canal cruise boat in Odiham Hampshire (close to Hook), starting at 730pm til 10/11pm (finish depends on water levels, at present the water level is low so finish times currently at 11) We would like a good range of music from classics like Fleetwood mac/90's/amy winehouse/ to present. It is a small venue and the boat at times will be near houses so t doesn't need to be too loud! There is limited electricity supply as it is a canal boat but there is a socket available for use with extension., it may be easier to have a battery powered PA if possible as the output on the boat is limited. We are having hot food delivered at 9 to the boat which would create a natural break. Food/soft drinks will be provided. Its a 40th birthday party and set up could start from 7pm
Blag were absolutely brilliant and exactly what we were after. This was a big corporate party for a young audience and they were fun and a modern take on a ceilidh band. I highly recommend them for any event as they would be great regardless of audience.
We booked the BVB for our wedding in April at Stonehouse Court. We specified Celtic music and they were excellent – they even learned a song for me to sing with them in two weeks flat! True musicians who really know their stuff. They were punctual and did not skimp on time – not taking lengthy breaks between songs which I know some do. A really great experience – I thoroughly recommend them.
Dear Kellys Heroes, Thank you so much for playing at our wedding. You were brilliant and so patient with us! So many of our guests have remarked how much they loved it- from the 20 year olds to the 70 year olds, all loved it and joined in, which is exactly what we wanted. Even the hip-hop fans who normally grumble at anything else were up having a whale of a time. We appreciated you expertise and advice and would recommend you to others. We hope you enjoyed playing and we're sorry the rugby score was not better!
