Shenanigan is a Celtic Band based in the South of England When performing we can provide a range of entertainment including: Songs, Instrumentals and even Ceilidh with caller if required. The line-up for would be: Singer/ Guitarist along with a mixture of instrumentalists, including Fiddle/Banjo, Whistles/Flute and Accordion. The band creates a night of entertainment with a strong Irish flavour. As well as songs expect Jigs, Reels, Polkas and Waltzes. If a period of ceilidh dancing with a caller is something that you would consider we can provide that? Some of the songs you may hear are Black Velvet Band, Carrickfergus, Dirty Old Town, Fields of Athenry, Galway Girl, I’ll Tell me Ma, Irish Rover, Whiskey in the Jar and Wild Mountain Thyme. Shenanigan has a good quality PA which could also be used for a period of recorded music. The band arrives an hour before playing to set up and usually plays two hour long sets with a break between, although we can be flexible over timings.

We are a band comprising of fiddle, guitar, bass and percussion, alongside a dedicated vocalist and caller who can happily set up an impromptu ceilidh if required. As a rule our performance is over two sets each lasting around forty-five minutes each, although this is entirely flexible and dependant on your requirements. We play all sorts of celtic music from traditional jigs and reels, to contemporary Irish folk rock and many other styles of music from around the world, such as songs by Van Morrison / Ed Sheeran / Eagle Eyed Cherry / Paul Weller / The Pogues / The Waterboys / Thin Lizzy and many others. Welcome to the musical world of Cris Tanzi Italian London based jazz/soul singer with a unique sultry voice. Hailing from Italy, Cris went to London to follow her passion for Music after being classically trained many years in Parma. In London Cris joined several indie bands as a singer, acoustic guitarist and co writer. In 2004 Cris started to write her own songs and formed her own indie/folk project simply called Cris Tanzi. One of her self produced tracks “My home” was selected by Mercedes Benz mixed tape and gained quite a bit of exposure thanks to an online label called Beatpick. After a few years of song writing and being active in the underground-unsigned London scene, Cris felt the need to expand her musical knowledge to be able to compose more interesting pieces. She started to listen to Jazz singers like Ella Fitzgerald and Billy Holiday and soon enough, was hooked into the genre so much so that she decided to complete a degree in Jazz at Middlesex University where she specialized in vocals and piano. Following her Jazz degree Cris Tanzi started to perform in many venues in London alone and as well as with talented musicians, learning the tricks of the trade and putting into practice all that she had learned during her Jazz course. She is now performing solo and with musicians for private and public functions.

I am happy to confirm we are currently available on this date. As a rule our Ceilidh will be split into two sets (around an hour 15 each) with a few easier dances and tunes in the first set. Once the drink’s been flowing we’ll throw in a few harder ones and ensure everyone has a good laugh! Can't dance? Two left feet? Don't worry! Our caller Paul is here to talk you through each and every dance ensuring all guests (including children and grandad) can join in the fun, with the odd joke thrown in for good measure! We provide all our own equipment, with a full PA system which can support speeches, first dances and any background music. Our standard line up consists of our Caller, a guitarist and fiddle player and bassist and a drummer, ensuring we give you a modern twist to our lively, upbeat music. Keeping you entertained even when you’re dancing feet have left you behind or the wine has been flowing! Timings tend to run as below however we’re more than happy to fit in around what you need and what happens on the night. Ceilidh Band For Parties

Kingsfolk goes out as a team of five; four musicians and a caller. Our lively music is ideal for Scottish ceilidhs and we have been bringing parties to life all over London for many years. A typical event for us starts when we play a few folk tunes to create an appropriate atmosphere. Then our caller (master of ceremonies) explains how a ceilidh works and he will call people onto the floor to start the first dance. We always start with a few easy dances, such as the Galopede or the OXO Reel and then, depending upon how many guests are experienced dancers, we may try more challenging dances. There are usually two sets of dances with a refreshment break in the middle. If the guests have their meal earlier, the break could be for cake cutting or for serving coffee. Each set of dancing is often an hour and a quarter long, but you may want to cut them down to one hour or even 45 minutes each. It all depends on your overall plan. At the end of the second set of dances, the caller will often try to get as many people as possible up onto the dance floor for a final dance, either a circle dance or Strip the Willow. Then the band will play a final instrumental piece which gives guests an opportunity for a bit of free dancing.
