Spice It Up we're fantastic! On a scorching hot day, Debbie and her colleague continually served a never-ending queue of people with the most delicious food, and were still smiling at the end! They were definitely the most popular choice on the day!
I absolutely recommend Spice IT Up and would book again without hesitation.
Thank you so much ladies xx

They were very friendly and the food was sensational.
The staff really appreciated it and I’ve been told by then that it was like a taste of the Caribbean.

Debbie kept in touch before the party by email and phone, she arrived with her crew on time around 3hours before the party started, promptly set up and started cooking the food, they set out salads, cutlery and sauces and told us when the food was ready. We had around 50 to feed, our guests enjoyed the food so much they went back for 2nd and 3rd servings!! There was more than enough food to go around, plus I gave Debbie containers to box up leftovers which we ate the day after!! the ingredients they use are top quality, they cook carribean food to perfection, and Debbie cooks the mutton curry herself which is amazzzzing! everything was so delicious, the food was a hit for our guests and I am sure they will be for anyone that hires them, I would highly recommend Spice it up, thank you so much 😊

I ordered this package for a wedding reception for my son who wanted a ‘Caribbean feast’. It truly was a feast, the curry goat was tender and very tasty, the jerk chicken was moist and had just the right amount of spice. Almost every guest commented on the deliciousness of the food, several had a second serving. There was more than enough food and Dawn was able to offer a vegetarian option as well as a dish for a guest with a nut allergy. She kept me fully informed of timings and delivery was easily done. I cannot recommend this company more highly.

"Amazing
They arrived at the venue about three to four hours before they were due to serve to set up and make sure things were ready. When they did serve, they served an array of flavourful dishes for the time I had asked for, they served the food on some wonderfully appropriate dishes (which are recyclable) with some cutlery (also recyclable and lovely).
Couldn't praise them anymore, they were friendly and efficient, kind and skilled!
A brilliant choice for mine and my now husbands laid back, Caribbean cook-out theme.
Couldn't have asked for more!!!"
We delivered next level parties for exceptional companies
We also did more than 40,000 birthday parties. Probably, including your neighbour’s recent big bash.
Caribbean Catering in Liverpool: The Straight-Talk Buyer’s Guide
Caribbean catering in Liverpool is a brilliant match, sunshine flavours against a city that loves music, waterfront views and a good party. If you are planning a waterfront wedding, a hen or stag warm-up, a music-scene wrap party or a big birthday, we will help you shape the perfect brief, choose the right format, and book with confidence. This guide is written for people searching for Caribbean catering in Liverpool, so we lean into local venues and celebration styles, and we keep everything simple, practical and fast to action.
The Liverpool Spin: Mersey Meets Montego
Liverpool events move quickly, guests arrive ready to mingle, and spaces vary from industrial lofts and galleries to townhouse gardens and classic function rooms. Caribbean menus fit that rhythm. Think grilled jerk chicken with citrus slaw, plantain fritters straight from the pan, curried chickpeas folded into soft rotis, and rum-kissed desserts that keep the mood high. We like to call it Mersey-meets-Montego, a warm blend of smoky barbecue, lively spice and relaxed service that feels right at home by the water or in a cosy city space.
What You Should Budget
For most Liverpool bookings, expect per-person prices in the range of £13 to £24, depending on service style and menu depth. Many caterers also work with a minimum spend between £600 and £1,200, which typically covers smaller gatherings or the baseline for set-up, staff and travel. If your guest list is tight, a compact menu or a street-food format helps you meet the minimum without over-ordering. If you are feeding a crowd, the per-person price is the main driver and you can layer extras like canapés, late-night snacks or a rum punch station.
Best-Fit Event Formats in the City
Different Liverpool venues favour different service styles. Here is how we steer the decision.
Waterfront weddings, often happier with a barbecue or buffet that keeps queues moving and plates generous. Jerk chicken, grilled fish, rice and peas, seasonal salads, and a vegetarian hot pot sit well together.
Hen and stag warm-ups, ideal for street-food stalls or sliders and small plates. Guests graze, chat and dance without a sit-down pause.
Music-scene wrap parties, built for bowl food and canapés, roaming servers, quick bites, a late finish, simple staffing.
Birthdays at home or in townhouse gardens, great with a compact buffet and a signature punch, maybe a tray of patties for midnight.
If you are in a gallery or loft with strict load-in rules, we recommend canapés or bowl food. If you are in a function room with outdoor space, we lean to a beach-bar barbecue theme, grills outside, service inside, easy.

Jamaicing Me Crazy is our take on Jamaican street food—fresh, spicy, and perfectly balanced between heat and sweetness. Choose your filling: Jerk Chicken Thigh, Slow-Cooked Jerk Beef, or Mixed Bean & Jackfruit Stew (vegan). Served over coconut rice and beans, topped with pineapple salsa, and paired with warm flatbread for scooping. A vibrant taste of the Caribbean that brings sunshine, spice, and soul to every bite.

Curated suppliers
All Poptop’s suppliers are rigorously vetted and approved by our team of party experts, ensuring you book the very best.
We plan for sunshine and showers. The best caterers bring flexible kit, hot boxes and covers, so service holds up even if the breeze picks up along the waterfront. Menus with sturdy bases are your friend. Rice and peas, coconut slaw, roast corn, spicy roasted cauliflower, grilled pineapple, and macaroni pie keep heat and texture. For colder evenings, a curry goat or jackfruit curry station is fantastic, served with soft buns or roti. For summer afternoons, citrus ceviche-style fish or mango-lime salads lift the buffet and keep plates bright.
Dietary Preferences, Made Easy
Caribbean menus adapt beautifully. Vegan guests enjoy callaloo, ital stews, jerk tofu, smoky aubergine, sweet potato and coconut curries. Gluten-free is straightforward when you lean on rice, grilled proteins and salads. For halal preferences, many suppliers already work to those standards, just confirm at enquiry. We always advise you collect dietary notes at invite stage, then pass them to the caterer in one clear list, no last-minute guessing and everyone eats happily.
Drinks, Rum and the Reggae & Rum Small Plates Idea
A simple rum station builds instant atmosphere. Pair signature rum cocktails with three to five small plates that echo the flavours, for example jerk prawn skewers, plantain chips with pepper salsa, mini coconut bakes with salt fish, and mango chilli cups. Where venues do not allow spirits, a no-alcohol spritz with ginger, lime and sorrel keeps the same Caribbean energy without the ABV, and it photographs well.
Venues and Spaces That Love This Cuisine
Waterfront lofts, galleries, townhouse gardens and classic function rooms all handle Caribbean catering well. Waterfront spaces allow grills and create that beach-bar barbecue vibe, just check extraction rules. Galleries and lofts prefer contained set-ups, chafers or ovens rather than open flame, so bowl food or canapés win. Townhouse gardens work with compact barbecues and buffet tables under a canopy. Function rooms can do anything from full buffets to street-food carts, depending on the house rules. Ask for the venue’s catering handbook early, then we tailor the plan to fit.
Choosing Your Service Style
If you are torn between formats, use these quick prompts.
Barbecue, best for relaxed weddings and big birthdays when you want theatre and fragrance.
Buffet, perfect when you need value, variety and speed for larger groups.
Bowl food, the middle ground, elegant and mobile, ideal for wrap parties and receptions.
Canapés, great for shorter events, speeches, and gallery hours.
Street-food stall, the fun choice for hens, stags and outdoor sessions, high energy and Instagram-friendly.
How to Compare Suppliers Quickly
You want instant, all-inclusive pricing and fast replies. That is where we shine. When you look at proposals, check for these items.
Per-person price and whether it includes staffing, crockery, cutlery and travel.
Minimum spend and what happens if guest numbers drop.
Menu swaps included, for example swapping coleslaw for pineapple slaw, chicken for fish, or adding vegan mains.
Timings, when they arrive, when they serve, when they leave, and how long they need for set-up and pack-down.
Equipment footprint, grills, hot boxes, service tables, power needs.
If two quotes feel similar, choose the one that explains service flow clearly. Good service notes predict a calm event.
Sample Build-Outs for Common Guest Counts
Forty guests in a townhouse garden, barbecue with two mains, three sides, a vegan main and a simple dessert. Expect to sit inside the £13 to £20 range, subject to extras.
Eighty guests in a function room, buffet with three mains, four sides, salads, hot vegetarian and vegan options, plus canapés on arrival. Typically £16 to £24 per person.
One hundred guests in a waterfront loft, bowl food, three rounds of hot bowls, one cold bowl, paced over two hours. Expect upper teens to low twenties per person.
Twenty-five guests for a hen warm-up, street-food stall with sliders, patties and plantain fritters. Minimum spend likely applies, so you balance menu depth with that threshold.
Common Pitfalls to Avoid
Booking a grill for a space that does not allow outdoor cooking. Always check the rules first.
Over-complicating menus with too many dishes. Three mains and four sides feed brilliantly.
Forgetting about plates, cutlery and servers. Ask if they are included.
Not planning for weather. Have a covered cooking area or an indoor back-up.
Leaving dietary decisions to the last minute. Collect everything early.

Writing a Clear Brief the Caterer Will Love
A good brief is short, specific and saves you money. Share these details up front.
Event type and vibe, waterfront wedding, music wrap, birthday, hen or stag.
Guest count bands, for example 60 to 80, plus any children.
Venue and layout, loft, gallery, townhouse garden, function room, indoor or outdoor cooking.
Service style, barbecue, buffet, bowl food, canapés or street-food stall.
Timings, guest arrival, service window, speeches, cake, last plates.
Dietaries and must-haves, vegan mains, halal meats, no nuts, extra spice or mild.
Equipment notes, power access, water, lift or stairs.
Budget range, per-person figure and awareness of minimum spend.
With that, suppliers can confirm availability, price accurately and suggest smart tweaks that keep you inside the £13 to £24 bracket while still feeling generous.
Sustainability and Sourcing
If sustainability matters to you, ask about charcoal type, fish sourcing and packaging. Many Liverpool caterers already use responsibly sourced charcoal or electric grills where required, fish from monitored stocks and compostable serviceware. It is completely reasonable to request this in your brief, and it rarely moves the price dramatically if planned early.
Styling and Finishing Touches
Caribbean catering comes alive with colour and small details. Consider linen in sea-blue or tropical green, palm leaves as platter liners, simple string lights for evening service and a little chalkboard that names the mains and sides. If photography is important, brief your supplier to keep a pristine plate back for a quick photo before service begins.
Checklist You Can Copy Into Your Notes
Confirm venue rules on cooking style and access
Pick your service format to match the space
Select three mains, four sides, one dessert, add a vegan main
Gather dietaries and final numbers two weeks out
Plan a rain cover or indoor alternative
Decide on drinks, rum station or no-alcohol spritz
Assign a single on-the-day contact
Keep a short window for speeches before dessert
Bringing the Themes to Life
If you like names for your plan, here are three Liverpool-ready themes you can brief in.
Mersey-meets-Montego, smoky grills, lime and mango salads, steel drum playlists, relaxed tables, a city-meets-island mood.
Reggae and rum small plates, roaming servers, mini jerk skewers, coconut bakes, spicy shrimp cups, a neat rum bar with fresh juice mixers.
Each theme fits the same budget window, you simply dial service style and menu weight up or down to match your guest count and the space.
