I can't express how amazing the evolution choir are. They did such a tremendous job. I love their enthusiasm, their energy and how they don't take themselves too seriously. Lovely, vibrant, happy people. Would definitely like to hire them again for any upcoming events in the future.

"If I could rank them higher I would! When I contacted you and Malisa about the possibility of getting you to do back up on one song at a rock festival it seemed like it might not happen, but Malisa did an amazing job of getting the chart to everyone and making ""Confirmation"" the ""once in a lifetime"" moment at Rockingham! I cannot tell you how touched myself and a thousand other people were by this magical moment and the unbelievable, brilliant, perfect job this choir did! On behalf of Boulevard and the three day rock festival ""Rockingham"" thank you! David Forbes"

"I can't thank the Pop Up Choir enough for their performance at our wedding on 10th August. Communication between myself and Malisa was great, really quick to respond and extremley professional. The choir learnt 3 songs for us and even agreed to hide and suprise our guests at church. They were absolutely fantastic and will remain a very special memory of our wedding forever. Our guests loved it and couldn't stop talking about the group! We can't recommend the choir enough! Fantastic value for money too, especially compared to other groups that would cost over 3x as much. Thank you so much! Lucy & Richard"

Hire a Choir in Leeds: The Buyer’s Guide

Leeds loves harmony. From Georgian architecture to modern arts spaces, the city has a habit of making performances feel special. A live choir takes that one step further. Whether you want elegant ceremony music, indie-acoustic vibes, or a joyful singalong at a winter fair, a choir brings real connection and a bit of theatre. In this guide we show you how to choose the right choir for your Leeds event, what it costs, where it works best, and how to book quickly and confidently through Poptop.

Why a choir works so well in Leeds

A good choir changes the mood of a room in seconds. It can float through a Georgian hall, add sparkle in a gallery, or lift a church service to goosebump territory. In Leeds, choirs fit everything from sleek city weddings to university celebrations. We see three big wins every time:

  • Instant atmosphere for welcomes, aisles, and key moments
  • A shared experience that pulls guests together
  • A repertoire that can move from classical to chart singalong without losing polish

Choir styles that suit local events

Most Leeds bookings fall into a set of tried-and-true flavours. Pick one as your headline style, then ask the group to tailor the details to your event.

  • Elegant ceremony quartet: four classically trained singers for refined processionals, signing of the register, or receptions that need subtle grace
  • Indie-acoustic harmonies: a smaller lineup with close mic work and stripped-back arrangements of anthems, ideal for modern galleries and boutique hotels
  • Gospel uplift: big energy, vibrant harmonies, perfect for aisle moments, first dances, and retail launches that need a crowd-stopper
  • Pop choir: upbeat covers with strong rhythm and audience engagement for evening receptions and outdoor fairs
  • Yorkshire carol tradition: seasonal sets with local carols and well-loved classics for markets, community events, and winter weddings

Event-by-event advice

Weddings

For ceremonies, choose a quartet or small ensemble for seamless cues and tight blend. Ask for a processional piece, a reflective moment during the signing, and a bright recessional that signals celebration. For drinks receptions, a pop or gospel set works brilliantly outdoors or in larger rooms, keeping guests smiling while photos happen. If the evening band starts later, a choir can bridge the gap with lively singalongs.

  • Two gentle pieces for the signing
  • One upbeat recessional that fits your exit pace
  • A 30 to 45 minute reception set while guests mingle
  • Graduation dinners

University spaces love crisp acoustics. Indie-acoustic harmonies or a pop choir gives you recognisable tunes without overpowering conversation. Keep sets to two short appearances across the evening. Introduce award segments with a fanfare-style arrangement or a brief chorus of a local favourite to bring the room together.

    What to ask for

    • Two 20 minute sets across the meal and speeches
    • A short musical sting to mark prize-giving moments
    • A finale that invites a light singalong

    AGMs and corporate meetings

For AGMs, think brand-appropriate. A contemporary chamber choir or refined quartet signals attention to detail without stealing the show. Keep the repertoire familiar and sophisticated. If you need an energiser after breakouts, a three-song pop medley is a neat refresh that brings people back to the room.

    What to ask for

    • A calm welcome set during arrival
    • A short re-focus moment after lunch
    • A headline piece before closing remarks

    Retail launches

You want stopping power. A gospel or pop choir outside the entrance or just inside draws attention and filmable moments. Rotate high-impact songs in short bursts so footfall always catches the hook. If your brand has a particular soundtrack, request bespoke arrangements that match the mood and product.

    What to ask for

    • Three 15 minute sets across peak launch times
    • One tailored arrangement matching brand energy
    • A selfie-friendly finale chorus for social clips

    Festive fairs

Leeds does winter well, and a choir is the quickest way to add warmth. Choose a seasonal set that mixes Yorkshire carols with crowd favourites. Keep the group visible and mic’d where possible. Short sets every hour keep the ambience festive without tiring voices.

    What to ask for

    • Four or five 15 minute sets across the day
    • A rota of classic carols and upbeat pop Christmas numbers
    • A final singalong to close the market

Where a choir sounds best in Leeds

    • Georgian halls: the natural reverb makes quartets shine. Keep arrangements uncluttered to let the room work with you.
    • University spaces: expect bright acoustics and high ceilings. Indie-acoustic harmonies and pop arrangements feel modern and inclusive.
    • Modern galleries: controlled, minimal spaces suit close-mic singing. Finesse the volume to protect conversation and exhibits.
    • Boutique hotels: flexible setups and cosy rooms benefit from smaller lineups, light percussion, and acoustic guitar if the choir offers it.
    • Churches: this is home turf for many choirs. Sacred and secular pieces both work, but respect house rules on amplification and repertoire.

How much does a choir cost in Leeds

Typical bookings in Leeds sit between £550 and £1,200. The exact figure depends on group size, set length, travel, rehearsal time for special requests, and the equipment provided. A refined quartet for a ceremony will land towards the lower end, while a bigger lineup for multiple sets sits higher. If you want custom arrangements or extra sound support, factor in a little more.

    Ways to manage budget

    • Book a quartet for the ceremony, then a reduced second set at drinks
    • Choose one special arrangement and keep the rest from the choir’s core list
    • Use the venue’s in-house sound if it’s suitable

    Leeds flavour for your setlist

If you want that local touch, build a thread through your song choices.

    • Indie-acoustic harmonies: arrangements of well-loved indie and Britpop tracks
    • Elegant ceremony quartets: classical favourites with one modern ballad in choral style
    • Upbeat reception pop: crowd-pleasers with call-and-response moments
    • Yorkshire carol tradition: a set that nods to local heritage alongside universal classics

    Practical booking tips

    • Lock the date early: choir diaries fill fast for weekends, graduations, and December fairs. As soon as the venue is set, check availability.
    • Think in moments: pick three moments you want people to remember. Build the set around them.
    • Share your timings: processional cues, speech slots, launch countdowns. The clearer the schedule, the smoother the performance.
    • Plan the sound: in a big hall or busy fair, ask for mics and a compact PA. In intimate rooms, an acoustic set may be perfect.
    • Check the footprint: a quartet needs space to stand, plus a little room for stands and a speaker if used. Keep them visible so guests understand where the sound comes from.
    • Request one bespoke piece: a meaningful song arranged for your lineup gives you a unique centrepiece without adding hours of extra prep.
    • Confirm attire: black-tie, smart-casual, or something seasonal. Matching the look keeps your photos tidy.

A sample running order for Leeds weddings

    • Guests arrive to a gentle 20 minute prelude set
    • Aisle song with a clear cue from your coordinator
    • Reflective piece for the signing, then a brighter one to follow
    • Recessional with a high-energy finish
    • Drinks reception set outside if the weather cooperates, or near the bar area if indoors
    • One final chorus to gather people before speeches

    Quick checklist before you confirm

    • Event date, venue, and room layout
    • Preferred style and lineup size
    • Key cues and a draft schedule
    • Power access and sound needs
    • One bespoke song, plus must-plays and do-not-plays
    • Dress code and any seasonal touches
    • Contact on the day and arrival instructions
