The service from POMEvents was fantastic!
Both guys were great - they slotted into the party without taking over, they set themselves up and left us to it! They made the cocktail making very simple for us and good fun! They got us to get involved, made our Bride to Be feel extra special. The cocktails themselves were amazing and they even brought extra Bride cocktail toppers as an added surprise which was such a nice touch! They were not shy with the alcohol and provided lots of shots! All round fantastic night - would highly recommend! 5* 5/5

Asian Catering in Leeds: The Complete Buyer’s Guide
Planning an event in Leeds and want food that actually gets talked about the next day? Asian catering is our go-to for flavour, theatre and flexibility. From delicate sushi to sizzling woks, bao to momo, it fits beautifully with the city’s mix of industrial venues, skyline terraces and relaxed village halls. In this guide we’ll walk you through formats, budgets, menus and logistics that work in Leeds, so you can book with confidence and serve something your guests will love.
Why Asian Catering Lands So Well in Leeds
Leeds events usually ask for three things: bold flavour, service that moves quickly, and a look that suits modern spaces. Asian menus deliver on all three. Street-food style stations pop against brick and steel backdrops, small bowls keep networking smooth, and sharing platters turn family moments into easy conversation. Whether you’re feeding 50 agency colleagues on a rooftop or 150 wedding guests in a marquee, there’s a format that scales neatly without losing character.
What You Should Budget
For most bookings in Leeds, you’ll be looking at £14 to £33 per person for core menus. If you add premium stations or signature dishes, plan an extra £5 to £10 per person. Many suppliers work to a minimum spend, typically £650 to £1,300, which comfortably covers smaller gatherings or forms the base for larger events. Keep an eye on travel, staffing and hire costs inside the quote, we’ll show you how to compare those fairly in a moment.
Event Types, Done the Leeds Way
We see four event types again and again. Here’s how Asian catering shapes up for each, with formats that run smoothly and feel on-brand for the city.
Weddings, elegant service with substance. Think mixed canapés as guests arrive, then “Leeds-style Asian grazing” for the wedding breakfast, sushi, bao and noodles spread as eye-catching food islands. Add a late-night ramen or dumpling stop for a second wind on the dance floor.
Grad events, speed and fun first. Bowl food or boxes let guests keep moving, noodles, katsu, crispy cauliflower bites, bao with quick toppings, all fly from the pass and photograph well.
Agency parties, high-impact stations. Indo-Chinese live woks or a yakitori grill become the centrepiece, paired with a cold sushi bar for variety. Give it a theme and a signature mocktail pairing to tie it together.
Networking evenings, roam and chat. Small plates and skewers do the heavy lifting, with a momo station where guests choose fillings and dips. No cutlery traffic jam, just easy one-handed eating.

Curated suppliers
All Poptop’s suppliers are rigorously vetted and approved by our team of party experts, ensuring you book the very best.
When we say “Asian catering” we don’t mean a single cuisine. Leeds crowds enjoy range and freshness, which is why the following line-ups book well:
Asian grazing, the Leeds favourite. A curated spread that combines sushi rolls, bao sliders and noodle salads, presented as a continuous landscape, zero queues, strong visual.
Indo-Chinese party menus. Crowd-pleasing chilli chicken or paneer, hakka noodles, crisp spring rolls, a balance of sweet, heat and texture that works for mixed tastes.
Nepali momo stations. Steamed parcels with chicken, veg or pork, finished on planchas or served straight from bamboo baskets with tomato or sesame dips. It’s warm, interactive and very shareable.
Ramen pots for winter. Perfect for rooftops with heaters or cosy village halls, prepped broths with noodles and toppings assembled to order, a comforting anchor for colder months.
Picking the Right Service Format
Menu is one half of the story, service format is the other. Choose based on space, guest flow and run-of-show.
Buffet islands, best for weddings and big headcounts. Great visual impact and steady service. Position two or three islands to avoid a single long line.
Live stations, drama and aroma. Woks, steamers, grills or hand-rolled sushi bring the theatre. Allow power and extraction planning if you’re indoors.
Bowl food, networking’s best friend. Small, balanced portions that circulate, noodles, rice bowls, bao halves, let conversations continue naturally.
Sharing platters, relaxed and social. Long tables, platters set down family-style, naan towers with curry bowls, whole sides of salmon for sushi nights, excellent in village halls and marquees.
Bento and boxes, tidy and fast. Useful when timings are tight or access is tricky, still premium if you spec the contents well and label diets clearly.
Venues and Logistics Across Leeds
Leeds gives you variety, which is brilliant, but each setting asks for a bit of planning.
Industrial venues. You often get big doors and easy load-in, plus power on hand. Confirm any restrictions on open flames and check where extraction is required if cooking inside.
City-centre hotels. Kitchen access is a win, though you may need to align service routes and timing with venue staff. Certificates and liability docs should be ready to share.
Rooftop terraces. Sensational for summer sushi and bao. Wind and weather planning matters, consider weighted gazebos, hot-hold boxes and a wet-weather plan that looks deliberate.
Village halls and marquees. Allow for generator power, lighting and water. Keep pathways for service trolleys dry and clear. Position handwash stations and waste points from the start.
Guest Flow, Portioning and Pace
We plan around the moments that matter. Drinks reception needs quick bites with no bottlenecks. Main service should deliver 10 to 12 bites or the equivalent per person if you’re grazing, or two to three bowls across the evening for networking. Live stations run best with a clear queue guide and a runner replenishing behind the scenes. If you’re mixing formats, set a service cadence, canapés on arrival, grazing for the first hour, live stations for two hours, late-night ramen for a final rally.
Dietaries Without Drama
Asian menus make it easy to look after everyone, as long as it’s planned clearly.
Vegetarian and vegan, tofu bao, veg gyoza, sesame noodle salads, jackfruit katsu, plenty of choice that feels designed, not tacked on.
Gluten-free, rice-based dishes, grilled skewers and broths are strong options, but check soy sauce and breaded items.
Allergens, label sesame, peanuts, soy and shellfish visibly, colour-coded tags on platters or stickers on boxes help staff and guests instantly.
Halal, many suppliers work halal as standard or on request. Confirm certification, storage and separate utensils so you can brief your venue with confidence.
How to Compare Suppliers Like a Pro
Instant pricing on Poptop means you can shortlist in minutes, then you’re comparing like-for-like on detail rather than guessing totals. Here’s what to look for:
Clear per person price, within the £14 to £33 range for the chosen menu.
Premium add-ons, priced simply at £5 to £10 per person, for upgraded sushi, extra dumplings or a signature station.
Minimum spend, usually £650 to £1,300, which protects small events from surprise add-ons.
What’s included, food, chef team, serving staff, disposable or reusable serveware, setup and breakdown, travel and generator if needed.
Service duration and capacity, how many hours of hot service, how many guests per hour per station, whether a second station will speed things up.
Equipment, woks, steamers, hot boxes, induction hobs or LPG, and what the venue allows.
Lead time for final numbers, usually seven to ten days, useful if RSVPs shift.
Example Budgets That Make Sense
Use these as starting points, then tailor to your headcount and tastes.
60-guest networking evening, city centre. Bowl food and boxes, three rounds across two hours, noodles, bao halves and skewers. Core price around £18 to £24 per person, then add £5 per person for a mini momo station to keep the energy up. You’ll sit near the lower end of the minimum spend, with staffing and travel covered inside the quote.
110-guest wedding, industrial venue. Asian grazing as the main meal, sushi, bao and noodle salads across two islands, then a late-night ramen pot. Expect £20 to £28 per person for the base, plus £5 to £8 per person for the ramen finish. Two islands reduce queues, one chef per station plus two runners keeps it tidy.
80-guest agency party, rooftop. Indo-Chinese live wok plus a cold sushi bar. Budget £22 to £30 per person with a £5 per person premium for the live element. Add wind-proofing and a weather plan, hot-hold containers for seconds.

Date, venue and guest count, even if it’s a range.
Service style, grazing islands, live stations, bowls or sharing platters.
Dietaries and cultural requirements, including halal or allergen specifics.

Timings, arrival window, service start, speeches or entertainment breaks.

Final Tips From Us
If you’re between formats, start with Asian grazing and add one live element for theatre. For big guest lists, duplicate popular stations instead of lengthening the menu, speed is the real luxury. Label dietaries clearly at the station, not just on the menu card. If photos matter, place your most colourful spread where guests naturally gather, it will do your social content for you.
