A lively folk/gypsy/ceilidh band with tunes from Ireland, Scotland, Wales, America and England.
We are available for performing concerts, barn dances (or ceilidhs) at pubs, festivals, weddings, birthdays, BBQ's or any other party!
We perform a range of music (both songs and tunes) from a broad repertoire and era from traditional folk to 70's and 80's rock!
We can cater for Scottish 'flavoured' Ceilidhs, although for most Barn Dance/ Ceilidhs we would keep it mixed to allow dancers of all experience levels to enjoy themselves.
Our aim is to 'entertain, not educate', it should be fun after all!

Black Velvet Ceilidh Band Trio includes some of the most experienced folk musicians and the best dance callers in the South West. Look forward to punchy jigs and reels, played with panache and a dance caller who gets everyone involved, from ceilidh “newbies” to experienced dancers and makes sure that it’s a great fun event. A ceilidh or barn dance is a brilliant ice breaker at a wedding, birthday or family party. Want a Scottish ceilidh? The band has an excellent repertoire of Scottish tunes and the caller will include “Strip the Willow” and “The Dashing White Sergeant”. Want to go Irish? Irish jigs and reels underpin an Irish ceili, with dances such as “The Siege of Ennis” and “The Bridge of Athlone”. The ceilidh trio is led by virtuoso fiddle player, Mike Evans, supported by either guitar or accordion and a dance caller who will walk you through the dances then call out the moves as the music strikes up. Add more musicians for a larger...
I am planning a 60th Birthday party for my husband to be held at the Royal British Legion Alphington, Exeter. It will have mixed ages from young children to elderly relatives would your entertainment be suitable for that?
we are having a wedding for around 90 guests and we thought before the DJ kicked in it would be fun to have a ceilidh band to liven the room and get people on their feet.
We didn't really want a slow first dance where everyone watches us shuffle round the dance floor so we thought perhaps this would be a fun thing to do with the bridesmaids and ushers.
Please could you let me know the cost of a session, how long this would be and anything else you feel we should know.
If you could email your reply to it would be appreciated.
I came across you details on Google. I am having my wedding on Sunday 9th August 2015 consisting of 100 or under. The venue is at Surbiton, Surrey.
What is the minimum of time the band will sing for and the maximum. Please provide me with the maximum and minimum charge and the duration of the performance.
Also, which kind of songs do you perform, we are looking for Iraqi/Algerian.

Hi my name is,
Me and my partner mark have booked our wedding for sat 24th sep and are looking for a live music band just like yours to perform on the night.
The wedding reception will be held at:
The verve event space
Please could you quote for 3x40mins
We are getting married in West Pennard near Glastonbury, it will be a tipi reception in the gardens of a family home. It would be great if we could receive a quote for our wedding, it would be good to see all the options available but I think we would ideally be looking for a 4 piece band to play 2 x 45min sessions.
We are not in Bristol.. The request form, just doesn't have anywhere close to choose.
I came across your page on this site. We quite like your music.
We are planing a wedding in a tipi, in a tiny village in Cumbria. Its about an hour from Leeds.
Weddings are expensive, so we were staring to think we might not be able to get a band. We really want to. This page suggests you might do it for £400? Its not totally about price. There are plenty bands that will work for less than you that we wouldn't want to have.
Anyways, give me a shout if you can help.
Blag were really exactly what we were looking for! I don't live in London so I was nervous about choosing a band I hadn't heard play, but they sounded great online, and I spoke to Michael over the phone and on email about the type of party we were having and the music we wanted. Most importantly they played brilliantly on the night, everyone was up out their seats for a good knees up and we were guided round the dances that we didn't know. All the guests were happy.
Would definitely recommend!
