A lively folk/gypsy/ceilidh band with tunes from Ireland, Scotland, Wales, America and England.
We are available for performing concerts, barn dances (or ceilidhs) at pubs, festivals, weddings, birthdays, BBQ's or any other party!
We perform a range of music (both songs and tunes) from a broad repertoire and era from traditional folk to 70's and 80's rock!
We can cater for Scottish 'flavoured' Ceilidhs, although for most Barn Dance/ Ceilidhs we would keep it mixed to allow dancers of all experience levels to enjoy themselves.
Our aim is to 'entertain, not educate', it should be fun after all!

Black Velvet Ceilidh Band Trio includes some of the most experienced folk musicians and the best dance callers in the South West. Look forward to punchy jigs and reels, played with panache and a dance caller who gets everyone involved, from ceilidh “newbies” to experienced dancers and makes sure that it’s a great fun event. A ceilidh or barn dance is a brilliant ice breaker at a wedding, birthday or family party. Want a Scottish ceilidh? The band has an excellent repertoire of Scottish tunes and the caller will include “Strip the Willow” and “The Dashing White Sergeant”. Want to go Irish? Irish jigs and reels underpin an Irish ceili, with dances such as “The Siege of Ennis” and “The Bridge of Athlone”. The ceilidh trio is led by virtuoso fiddle player, Mike Evans, supported by either guitar or accordion and a dance caller who will walk you through the dances then call out the moves as the music strikes up. Add more musicians for a larger...

We are getting married on the 5th August and would love to have a Caleigh Dance for our reception. We listened to your clips and were wondering if you would be available and how much you would charge?
Our Venue is near Winchester and is in a Barn Venue.
The event is a Lady Taverners Charity Lunch being held at the Grand Hotel in Eastbourne. Date of Wednesday 24th June 2015 Numbers are approximately 150 (mainly ladies!) Need the Band to play one 40/45 minute set from 3pm only.
I am looking for a band for my parents joint 60th and 65th birthday party on the 16th of April.
Listening to the Freeloaders samples and you guys sound great and I would love to see if you would be available on 16th April and how much it would cost.
Be great to discuss further
Hi, it a garden mini festival for my wife's 40th. I would only require you for 1 hour. It's starts at 4pm. So you could do 6-7 maybe. So you could perhaps go to another gig. Or 5-6. What ever suits you.
Wedding at the Italian villa in poole dorset, We would required the 4 piece band to perform two sets with a break in between where we would like a playlist to be on. Also what do the band normally recommend for after their final set? As there will be no dj at the venue.
We are not in Bristol.. The request form, just doesn't have anywhere close to choose.
I came across your page on this site. We quite like your music.
We are planing a wedding in a tipi, in a tiny village in Cumbria. Its about an hour from Leeds.
Weddings are expensive, so we were staring to think we might not be able to get a band. We really want to. This page suggests you might do it for £400? Its not totally about price. There are plenty bands that will work for less than you that we wouldn't want to have.
Anyways, give me a shout if you can help.
I run a pub in hampshire and it is a very well known pub for live music, it has 2 bars and i think the modfathers are brilliant, would love to have them play here and would love a quote from you, many thanks and look forward to hearing from you
Hey Javier just want to say a big thank you for the amazing performance at our wedding on Sunday. Each and everyone we spoke to had no words to express how great it was, how much they loved the music and you guys. Thank you for your flexibility with the set. I know we made you change the timings to suit our plans, but it worked amazingly well, and we are so thankful for it.
Hired the band for our School Burns Night and was blown away by their professionalism and performance! They had all our staff on their feet to dance the night away. Lovely friendly guys, would not hesitate to book them again! Cannot recommend them highly enough!
