My Wife and I wanted to leave a review to say how incredibly this duo are. We utterly adored them and they made the evening so special. Everyone who came could tell how much passion they have for your craft and it really showed. There were no issues on the day, no problems with learning our requests and they even managed to put up with our drunken families - all with a smile on their faces. Even if you don't think you like folk music now, you will after hearing them. In summary: Brilliant.

"Las Guadalupes starred in our short film ""Odds On"" and were a treat to work with. Despite the long filming hours and additional acting required, they performed with so much enthusiasm and were a pleasure to have on set. They are extremely talented, funny and a joy to work with. Not only were they happy with everything we needed from them, they contributed great ideas to their roles. We hope they enjoyed the day as much as we enjoyed having them. Highly recommended!"

Shenanigan was the perfect band for my 50th party. They were very good at bringing people to the dance floor and at keeping people entertained. I, and my friends, had such a lovely evening laughing and dancing. Thanks to Simon, David and co for a fantastic evening. Béa

"Lilac, Remko and her band were absolutely amazing!! What a terrific night , we did a bit of barn dancing (great fun) and then some singing and dancing along with some of the brilliant crowd pleaser songs. I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending them for a barn dance party. They arrived early and set up and got organised, I had previously agreed the set list with Lilac who was most helpful and very flexible. 10/10 all round I'd say . Well done team very best wishes Sally"

We delivered next level parties for exceptional companies

We also did more than 40,000 birthday parties. Probably, including your neighbour’s recent big bash.

Country Band Hire in the UK: A Buyer’s Guide That Keeps It Simple, Personal, and Unforgettable

If you’re picturing boots, fiddles, harmony vocals, and a dance floor that refuses to empty, you’re in the right place. Country bands are brilliant at turning a good gathering into a full-blown celebration. Whether you’re planning a marquee wedding, a festival-style birthday, a corporate retreat with fresh air and fresh ideas, or a classic country fair, we’ll walk you through how to pick the right band, what it costs, and how to book with confidence.

We keep this guide practical. You’ll find clear pointers on themes, venues, timings, setup, set lists, and the little details that matter. By the end, you’ll know exactly how to hire a country band in the UK and have a plan you can act on straight away.

Why choose a country band

Country bands do connection better than almost any genre. They bring all-ages energy, storytelling, and musicianship that turns casual listeners into dance partners. The sound is upbeat but warm, the songs are familiar yet fresh, and the format suits both relaxed afternoons and high-octane evenings.

What you can expect:

  • Musicians who can read a room and keep the energy rolling
  • Fiddle, acoustic and electric guitars, pedal steel, upright or electric bass, drums, and tight harmonies
  • A set list that blends modern country, classic Nashville, bluegrass twists, and foot-stomping crowd-pleasers

When a country band really shines

We see country bands land perfectly at:

  • Marquee weddings that want romance, singalong hits, and a packed floor
  • Festival-style birthdays with outdoor stages and a rolling schedule of fun
  • Corporate retreats where team-building needs something human and lively
  • Country fairs that benefit from toe-tapping rhythm and family-friendly tunes

If you’re aiming for a relaxed, sociable mood with moments that lift the whole crowd, you’re squarely in country territory.

Venues and spaces that fit the vibe

Country music feels at home where there’s a bit of character and breathing room. Bands love:

  • Barns with timber, fairy lights, and a natural acoustic warmth
  • Marquees on lawns or fields, with space for a stage and dancing
  • Fields for a festival setup with hay bales, bunting, and a simple outdoor stage
  • Country hotels or estates with function rooms that open to gardens

Most professional bands can adapt to compact areas or expand for larger spaces. If you have a noise limiter on site, tell the band early so they can plan their sound levels and kit.

Theme ideas that audiences remember

A great theme keeps your planning tidy and your visuals cohesive. Try one of these and make it your own:

Field of Dreams Festival:

Daytime lawn games, acoustic warm-ups, then full band after sunset. Think relaxed dress code, picnic blankets, and a twilight first dance.

Marquee Hoedown Deluxe:

Rustic signage, denim and florals, American pie on the dessert table, and a late-night country rock finale.

Country Weekender:

Welcome drinks on Friday with unplugged songs, main party on Saturday, farewell brunch on Sunday with gentle acoustic favourites.

These aren’t costumes and clichés, they’re frameworks. Use them to guide décor, menus, and running order while the band provides the heartbeat.

What a country band costs

For a professional UK country band, expect typical fees in the range of £1,200 to £2,400. Where you’ll land within that range depends on:

  • Line-up size and instrumentation
  • Travel distance and arrival time
  • Length and number of sets
  • Sound and lighting requirements
  • Peak dates, bank holidays, and late finishes

We always provide instant, all-inclusive pricing on the platform so you can compare options without waiting around. More on that shortly.

Picking the right line-up

There’s no single “correct” line-up, there’s the one that suits your event.

Common options:

  • Trio for intimate spaces or afternoon receptions, typically vocals, guitar, fiddle or dobro, and light percussion
  • Four or five piece for weddings and parties, adding drums and bass for a more driving sound
  • Expanded band with pedal steel, keys, or extra vocals for festival stages and larger marquees

Acoustic daytime sets are a smart add-on. Book the same musicians to greet guests with acoustic covers in the afternoon, then switch to the full band after dinner.

Crafting a set list that works

A balanced country set usually blends:

  • Modern radio favourites for energy
  • Golden-era classics for singalongs
  • A few bluegrass or Americana tunes for colour
  • Dance-floor rock-crossover moments to lift the room

Share your must-plays and any do-not-plays. If you’ve got a first dance in mind, the band can often learn it with enough notice. Keep requests to a shortlist so the band can maintain flow.

Sound, staging, and practicalities

Professional bands arrive with know-how as well as instruments. A few essentials to plan:

  • Space: a five piece typically needs about 4 metres by 3 metres
  • Power: two separate 13A sockets for sound and lights is common
  • Access: clear loading route from parking to stage area
  • Weather: for outdoor stages, cover from rain and any hard sun is vital
  • Noise: if your venue uses a limiter, share its threshold early

If you’re in a field or remote spot, ask about generators. The right power supply makes all the difference to sound quality and reliability.

Timings that keep the dance floor full

Here’s a running order that works well:

  • Guests arrive to background playlists or an acoustic duo
  • Dinner finishes and speeches wrap up
  • First dance starts the evening set
  • Band plays the first 45 to 60 minutes
  • Short break with curated playlist
  • Second set lifts the energy and ends on a high
  • Optional short encore or a final slow singalong

We suggest finishing live music no later than venue cut-off, then handing over to a playlist or DJ if you want to run later.

How far ahead to book

Prime Saturdays in summer go first. If you have a favourite date, secure the band as soon as your venue is confirmed. Mid-week and off-season dates are more flexible, and you can often move faster if you’re booking within two to three months. We show live availability and pricing, so you can lock things in quickly without a back-and-forth email chain.

What to ask a country band before you book

Use this quick checklist:

  • What line-up options are available, and what do you recommend for our guest count and space
  • How long are your standard sets, and how many breaks do you take
  • Do you bring PA and lighting, and is it suitable for our room size
  • Can you handle our first dance or special request
  • What time will you arrive, and how long is the soundcheck
  • Are there any specific stage, power, or access requirements we should know about
  • Do you carry public liability insurance and PAT-tested equipment

Clear answers now make everything smoother on the day.

Country band hire for different event types

A few ideas tailored to your plans:

Marquee weddings:

Welcome drinks with acoustic covers, first dance at sunset, then the full band to kick the party up a gear. Finish with a chorus everyone can belt out together.

Festival-style birthdays:

Organise mini-sets across the afternoon, add a short bluegrass session for variety, then close with a high-energy country rock run.

Corporate retreats:

Day one acoustic session for networking, campfire-style singalong in the evening, and a, “best of country” dance slot after dinner.

Country fairs:

Schedule two or three sets spaced over the day. Keep the repertoire family-friendly, and let the band MC competitions or raffle moments.
