Tamilla, played so beautifully! Every one of the guests has commented on how amazing the music was! The service from beginning to end was fantastic. The Violin Expert was very responsive and helpful on the lead up to the ceremony. The music was perfect... and Tamilla was very considerate and repeated the songs we requested for the arrival of the guests during the signing of the register so that I (the bride) could also enjoy what I had missed whilst the guests were waiting. Can’t recommend enough! Very affordable too. If you like the violin and want to make a special occasion even more memorable then definitely book the Violin Expert!

The Surrey Pianist played at our daughters wedding which was held in a country setting. In the months before the ceremony, he took time to find the couples requirements and matched them perfectly. He had to travel a fair distance at the start of a busy Easter weekend and was ready, set up and waiting, not complaining about being tucked into the last spare corner. I imagine he is used to grander venues. The weather was perfect (I can't claim he can arrange that of course). However, this meant that the sunshine, breeze and birdsong streamed into the barn. Jon complemented this perfectly with his beautiful piano playing. He managed to perfection the timing of a modern adaptation of Wagners 'Hear Comes the Bride' (By Jonathon Cain), so that he was at the right point as the bride and her dad walked in. There was not a dry eye in the house. A selection of songs were played for the signing of the register and for a change of tempo, he played the happy couple out with a rendition of 'Bear necessities'. I received many complements from guests. Anyone considering using a CD for their wedding, think again. This is fabulous. Highly recommended. 5 *+

Hire a Violinist in Bristol: A Buyer's Guide That Actually Helps
Looking for a Violinist in Bristol who feels right for your event, sounds brilliant, and keeps the planning simple? You’re in the right place. We work with violinists across the city and know what works on Harbourside terraces, in townhouse venues, creative studios, and those rustic pubs with gardens everyone loves. Below you’ll find a practical guide to styles, setups, prices, and how to book with confidence on Poptop.
Why a Violinist Suits Bristol Events
Bristol parties lean creative and relaxed. A violinist matches that energy, adding something refined without feeling stuffy. They can drift through a mellow afternoon, then switch to an upbeat evening set when the lights come on. Because a violinist is compact and flexible, they fit beautifully in smaller spaces, move easily between areas, and adapt to changing vibes through the day.
The Bristol Brief: What You Told Us, What We Deliver
You asked for coverage of creative ceremonies, media and agency socials, eco-friendly weddings, and artisan markets. Bristol does all of these brilliantly. Violinists we book here handle:
Eclectic mash-ups that jump from modern chart to film themes and indie favourites
Acoustic-to-electric switch sets that start warm and end lively
Mellow afternoon instrumentals for browsing, mingling, or canapés
Evening uplift with loop pedal grooves and dance-leaning medleys
That flexibility is the secret sauce. One musician, multiple moods, happy guests.
Repertoire That Actually Lands
Violinists in Bristol usually offer broad catalogues. Expect:
Pop and indie reworks that feel familiar and fresh
Classical favourites for ceremonies and moments that need a touch of tradition
Film and TV themes that get instant smiles
Celtic and folk colours that pair well with garden spaces and markets
Latin and jazz-tinged pieces for a little swing during cocktails
If you want something specific, we ask for must-play requests when you book. Most performers include a custom song or two at no extra cost, and can arrange more by agreement.
Spaces That Love a Violin
You don’t need a grand stage. The violin thrives where the audience is close by:
Harbourside terraces: sea breeze, sunshine, and a modern acoustic set. Electric violin works well later, especially with a compact speaker.

Curated suppliers
All Poptop’s suppliers are rigorously vetted and approved by our team of party experts, ensuring you book the very best.
Townhouse venues: elegant interiors suit classical and modern crossover. A ceremony piece upstairs, then background music for drinks downstairs.
Creative studios: exposed brick, high ceilings, and a loop-driven modern set that builds atmosphere without taking over.
Rustic pubs with gardens: acoustic violin outdoors in the afternoon, then an amped evening session indoors when the temperature drops.
Tip from us: keep the performer within sight of your main footfall, not tucked by a door. You’ll get better engagement and a richer sound throughout the space.
Event Ideas Tailored to Bristol
Here’s how we’d shape sets for the event types we see most often:
Creative Ceremonies
We keep arrivals light, ceremony pieces heartfelt, and the exit track upbeat. A short post-ceremony set works beautifully on a terrace while photos happen. If you’re going eco-friendly, we can avoid power during the day and switch to a small battery speaker only if needed.
Media and Agency Socials
Start ambient, move to rhythm. A loop-pedal set turns heads without derailing conversation. Drop in a few recognisable hooks, keep transitions smooth, and push tempo slightly as the room fills. If you’re unveiling a product or a campaign, we can cue a short feature track for your moment.
Eco-Friendly Weddings
Simplicity is the theme. Acoustic violin for the aisle, heritage or folk colours during drinks, then a subtle PA for the first dance if you’d like a live instrumental version. We can limit kit, travel efficiently, and keep volume respectful of wildlife and neighbours.
Artisan Markets
Visitors browse longer when the sound is warm and human. Rotating mini-sets through the afternoon keeps the energy replenished. Ask for a mix of folk, light classical, and recognisable pop to suit a wide audience and keep stallholders happy.
Price Guide in Bristol
Typical fees for a Violinist in Bristol sit around £210 to £470. Where you land in that range depends on:
Set length and the number of performance blocks
Travel and arrival time, especially for early soundchecks
Whether you need acoustic only or both acoustic and electric
Custom arrangements beyond one or two special requests
Add-ons like a second musician, loop pedal work, or compact PA
We give instant, all-inclusive pricing as soon as you enter the date, guest count, and postcode. No waiting for quotes, no back-and-forth. You can compare options side by side and book in minutes.
Acoustic-to-Electric: How to Run the Day Smoothly
We often recommend a two-phase plan:
Afternoon Acoustic
Ceremony, welcome drinks, or the first hour of your social
Softer dynamics for conversation and photos
Minimal or no power, fast setup, easy mobility
Evening Upbeat
Electric violin with backing or loop pedal
Dance-leaning medleys, pop hooks, and a little drama
Compact speaker, tidy cables, ready to lift the room without drowning it
This approach gives you clear contrast across the day and keeps guests engaged.
What a Booking Usually Includes
Most Bristol violinist bookings cover:
A call or message thread to finalise timings and key tracks
Arrival 45 to 60 minutes before the first note
PAT-tested equipment and public liability cover when amplified
A tidy, self-contained setup that looks good in photos
A polite, presentable performer who reads the room and adapts
If you’re planning outdoors, let us know about shade, ground surface, power distance, and a rain plan. We’ll keep everything practical.
Duos and Extras
If you like the idea of more texture, consider:
Violin and guitar for rhythmic lift and wider repertoire
Violin and piano or keys for cinematic ceremony moments
Violin and cello for rich mid-range and elegant harmony
Violin plus DJ, where the violinist guests during key moments later
Tell us the moment you want to elevate, and we’ll match the format.
Logistics You’ll Thank Yourself for Checking
Space: a two-by-two metre footprint is plenty for solo violin and a small speaker.
Power: one standard socket for electric sets. We can run battery options if sockets are distant.
Volume: we keep levels comfortable. If the space is very lively, we can position closer to guests or add a second small speaker.
Breaks: plan natural pauses. For markets and socials, short sets on rotation keep energy and bowing arms fresh.
Weather: string instruments prefer shade, stable temperature, and dry ground. We’ll advise on covers without making it complicated.
