As the entertainment manager of a Black Country beer festival, it was up to me to find acts who would be of interest to attendees. Tóra's performance caught my eye (ok, ears) but was potentially a gamble as we’d never had anyone similar. Nevertheless, gamble I did. She arrived early, delightfully welcoming and set up quickly with our engineer. And then she began. WOW! It was absolutely incredible. Often festival performances may be seen as “background entertainment” but she stopped people dead in her tracks. I’ve never seen such interest and awe by attendees. Even the regional secretary (who isn’t shy in coming forward), said to me several months later, “That young lady who sang moved to me to tears. I’ve been to many beer festivals, seen many acts and she was by-far the best I’ve ever seen.” High praise but a reflection of many people’s opinion. She got a huge round of applause at the end, with many attendees coming up to pass her thanks. Throughout the day I received about a dozen or so compliments to her performance. An absolute professional with an incredible vocal range, flexible to the music selection and a genuinely wonderful person to work with (I can compare to many in the past who are quite the opposite). My only regret is that it’s made the task of trying to find acts that are even better for the future, nigh on impossible. Matthew Sparks – Dudley Winter Ales Festival

"Hi Paige - I've written one review for Jeremy but more than happy to write another in response to your email. Jem is quite simply a gem! He gave an absolutely fantastic performance - cool, subtle, punchy, emotive and he's clearly a brilliant professional artist. An extremely talented and charming guy both vocally and on the keys - and lovely with it. He put up with my timings on the night which altered by the minute and everyone remarked upon the high calibre of his singing and playing. I would recommend him for any occasion which requires someone who knows what they are about and has the skill, confidence and expertise to execute superb renditions and keyboard skills. For me he was playing at a private house party but I am certain he is equally at home in the larger arena. Jeremy Sassoon deserves every success - thank you."

Mickey was excellent from start to finish. I barely had 5 minutes to speak to him as was busy with my event but he sorted himself out and sang wonderfully throughout our fundraiser. Cannot wait to use him again at any event and would thoroughly recommend his beautiful vocals. So many great comments too from our guests. Thank you Mickey.

Singing Pianist Hire in Manchester: Your Buyer’s Guide

If you’re planning a celebration in Manchester and want live music that feels personal, classy, and properly fun, a singing pianist is a brilliant choice. One performer, one polished setup, and a song list that moves from indie anthems to piano pop without breaking stride. Think modern Mancunian piano bar, Oasis next to Elton, with a bit of Harry Styles for the dance-in-your-seat moments. In this guide, we’ll walk you through what works best in the city, how to plan the music, what it typically costs, and how to book with complete confidence.

Why a singing pianist suits Manchester events

Manchester parties often combine industrial style with warm hospitality. A singing pianist matches that mood perfectly. The sound fills a room without drowning it, so you can talk, toast, and mingle while the set builds naturally through the night. It’s ideal for Northern Quarter lofts, converted mills, warehouse venues, and canalside spaces where the acoustics and aesthetic favour something stylish and versatile. One artist can glide from background ambience to crowd singalongs, which means fewer moving parts and a smoother night for you.

Event types that work beautifully

Manchester celebrations come in all shapes and sizes. Here’s where a singing pianist shines.

City weddings

Ceremony piano for a graceful entrance, romantic vocals during the signing, upbeat tunes at drinks, then a singalong after dinner. Couples love the way one performer ties the whole day together. The set can nod to Manchester’s music heritage alongside contemporary favourites, which keeps every generation happy.

Agency and tech socials

If you’re hosting a showcase, quarterly social, or client mixer, a singing pianist creates an upscale atmosphere without forcing everyone to shout over the music. Expect recognisable hits, tasteful transitions, and a relaxed confidence that encourages networking rather than derailing it.

Milestone birthdays

From 21st to 60th, the magic is in the request moments. Piano versions of the birthday person’s favourite songs land with extra weight. The artist can start mellow while guests arrive, then gradually raise the energy until the whole room is doing that seated sway that counts as dancing when there is cake nearby.

Festive parties

Seasonal classics on piano feel luxurious and cosy at the same time. Add a few indie crowd-pleasers and you’ve got the perfect December soundtrack. It’s a great way to keep things celebratory without turning the office do into a festival headliner slot.

The theme here is modern Mancunian piano bar, indie classics meeting piano pop. You’ll often hear artists tailor a route that touches Oasis, The Stone Roses, Courteeners, and then glide into Adele, George Ezra, and Harry Styles. Add a tasteful 90s and 00s streak, a couple of Motown staples for the parents, and some current chart toppers, and you’ve covered a room of mixed ages without losing the plot.

The best sets are shaped like a smile. They start gentle as people settle, rise through familiar mid-tempo tunes while drinks flow, and land on crisp singalongs when the speeches are done. Because it’s live keys and vocals, transitions feel natural and the energy never jars.

Venues and spaces in focus

Manchester offers characterful rooms that reward thoughtful sound. A few things to consider:

Northern Quarter lofts

Exposed brick and high ceilings look great, but they bounce sound around. A singing pianist with a compact PA can control volume without losing clarity. Place the piano where line of sight is good and you’ll get that intimate, living-room feel even in an open space.

Converted mills

These spaces are big on atmosphere. The visual of a piano against old timber or brick is a photo win. Ask for a slightly wider sound spread so music reaches guests at the back without becoming shouty up front.

Warehouse venues

Ideal for that minimalist, modern look. A piano setup gives you a focal point without cluttering the aesthetic. If you’re planning late-night dancing, the pianist can cover early evening, then hand over to a DJ without any gap in the vibe.

Canalside spaces

Beautiful for ceremonies and drinks. Just check access and power, and plan for a weather-safe position if any element is outdoors. Many pianists carry a weather-resistant digital piano shell that looks like the real deal, so you get the look as well as the sound.

What a typical booking includes

Most singing pianist packages for Manchester events will include:

  • A pro digital piano or stage piano with stand or shell
  • Compact PA system suitable for your guest count
  • Arrival, set up, and sound check before guests appear
  • Two or three live sets of 40 to 60 minutes each
  • Background playlists for breaks so the music never drops to silence
  • The option to learn a special song, often for aisle walks or first dances
  • All the cabling, microphones, and tidy staging to keep things looking sleek

If you need longer coverage, most performers can extend sets or add a roving mic for speeches. Some offer a DJ add-on for later, which is handy when you want a single supplier to carry you from ceremony to last tune.

Pricing and how to budget

For Manchester, expect typical fees to sit between £350 and £750. The exact figure depends on date, location, set length, early arrivals, and special requests. Weekends in peak months, additional learned songs, or late finishes can nudge the price upward. If you’re outside the city centre or need a second performance area, factor in extra setup time and possible travel.

To keep spending on track, decide what matters most. A ceremony song performed live and a lively drinks set will change the feel of the day. If you also want upbeat singalongs later, consider two focused sets rather than lots of shorter ones. Quality beats quantity in terms of guest experience.

Planning the music

Here’s a simple approach that works consistently well.

  • Pick the moments
  • Ceremony entrance, signing, and exit. Drinks reception. Post-dinner boost. You don’t need every slot filled, just the ones that define your day.
  • Choose your anchors
  • Aisle song, first dance, and one late-evening singalong that brings the room together. These anchors are the tracks people remember.
  • Curate the colours
  • Share five to ten must-plays and five to ten steer-clear tracks. Give the artist room to read the room, but set the palette.
  • Match the tempo to the timetable
  • Light and lyrical for arrivals, mid-tempo and bright for mingling, a confident lift when you want people to lean in and sing.
  • Keep logistics simple
  • Confirm access, power, and performance spot. Make sure the piano can be seen and heard without blocking service routes or guest flow.

Sound, space, and setup tips

  • Allow a minimum of three by two metres for the player and keys
  • Keep the performer within sight of the main crowd to encourage requests
  • If speeches happen nearby, a shared mic can reduce faff
  • For two performance areas, plan a short reset window between sets
  • Check with your venue about load-in times and any sound limiters

Most singing pianists handle compact setups that look clean on camera. If you want the full grand-piano look, ask about a digital shell that wraps the keyboard for that classic silhouette.

Personalising your performance

A few ideas that land well in Manchester:

  • A Manc mini-medley that threads a couple of local favourites together
  • A bespoke version of your aisle or first dance with trimmed verses to match the moment
  • A late-evening piano karaoke segment, with lyric prompts on cards at tables
  • A shout-out list for birthdays or teams during company socials
  • A quiet dedication to someone important, placed where it will be noticed

Small touches make big memories. Give your artist two or three personal notes and they’ll weave them in without breaking the flow.

How to compare options

When you’re browsing singing pianists in Manchester, use these quick checks.

  • Listen to recent live clips that show piano and vocals together
  • Look for a set list that spans indie to modern pop with a few timeless classics
  • Check microphone technique and diction for wedding ceremonies
  • Confirm the PA size matches your guest count and room type
  • Ask how they build a set, then see if that matches your evening flow
  • Clarify arrival time, breaks, and any add-ons like DJ coverage or a second setup

If two artists feel equally strong, pick the one whose tone and banter suit your crowd. Manchester audiences appreciate a natural confidence and a bit of friendly humour.

Sample running order

Here’s a simple timeline that fits most city events.

  • Guests arrive to light piano instrumentals
  • Ceremony songs performed live where needed
  • Drinks reception with indie-leaning favourites and easy pop
  • Dinner underscored by mellow hits and requests
  • Post-dessert lift with singalong moments leading into speeches or cake
  • Hand over to DJ if you’re going late, or end on a signature tune that leaves everyone smiling

This structure keeps conversation at the centre while still delivering those spine-tingle moments that live music does best.

Final tips from us

  • Lock the key songs first and let your pianist suggest the rest
  • Keep your must-not-play list short and clear
  • Place the piano where it looks intentional, not in a corridor
  • If you’re outdoors at any point, plan a covered option just in case
  • Share timings with your other suppliers so transitions feel seamless
