Lukasz is an absolute treasure, proffessional, attentive and was the perfect choice to cater for my wedding.
Lukasz and I compiled a menu within my budget and he kept in contact with me throughout the process providing me with reassurance and made suggestions based on his extensive experience which I happily took! Lukasz turned up on time and my guests were blown away by his dishes..the beef literally melted in your mouth, the grazing board was a perfect addition for cocktail hour, they were amazed at the vibrancy and freshness of the fruit, dips etc and to top it all off Lukasz was friendly, polite and courteous to all of my guests.
I must admit every positive review is well earned, I wouldn't hesitate to request his services again. Please book him, you will not regret it!

We couldn't have asked for a better service for Lukasz. From day one Lukasz was always on hand to discuss our requirements, and was very accomodating-even when we had to change venue! The food was excellent and our guests said how lovely it all was. Thoroughly nice person to deal with and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you Lukasz for making our special day so much more enjoyable.

Didn’t like the fact you can’t contact caterer direct until deposit paid. But once I was able to communicate with Rupert he put my mind at ease. Clarified and helped me arrange a buffet funeral tea for my sister. confirmed details in an email so no misunderstanding. Highly recommend Rupert and Gibbons catering. A smooth efficient service with a human touch.
Thank you

Beyond Catering provided a Grazing Table at our Civil Partnership. It was fabulous with a wide choice of food which was beautifully presented. Savouries, cakes, cheese and all sorts of fruits. I asked for a particular item food to cater for my family and it wasn't a problem. Equally, 10% of my guests were vegan and Beyond Catering made sure that the appropriate foor was provided and identified.
They were prompt at responding to my queries and liaised direclty with the venue to make sure that had the appropriate access on the day.
I had lots of compliments about the quality of the food.

We delivered next level parties for exceptional companies
We also did more than 40,000 birthday parties. Probably, including your neighbour’s recent big bash.
Manchester does celebrations properly. We’re talking big guest lists, big flavour, and big energy. If you’re planning a party where halal food is non-negotiable and the experience needs to be effortless, you’re in the right place. In this guide we’ll walk through styles of halal catering that work brilliantly in Manchester, what to expect for budgets, how to brief suppliers, and how to make the most of the city’s unique spaces and scenes. We’ll keep it practical, friendly, and focused on helping you book with confidence.
Why Manchester is perfect for halal events
Manchester is built for gatherings. Between mills and lofts with character, rooftop terraces with skyline views, co-working hubs that moonlight as event spaces, and solid suburban function rooms near transport, the city gives us loads of great backdrops. The food scene is adventurous too. Guests expect flavour, not just a safe option. That’s where halal street food, inventive mezze, and modern Indo-Chinese bite menus shine. In short, the city is open to a little culinary theatre, and your caterer can absolutely deliver it within halal guidelines.
Quick overview of formats and prices
Every event has a sweet spot of service style, menu breadth, and budget. Here’s how the main options usually land in Manchester:
Street-food service: £14 to £26 per person. Fast, fun, and perfect for tech meetups, match-day parties, agency wrap parties, and relaxed birthdays.
Buffet service: £20 to £34 per person. Great variety, dietary flexibility, and smooth service for mixed-age crowds at university balls and suburban receptions.
Plated dining: £28 to £48 per person. Ideal for city weddings, milestone celebrations, or brand showcases where presentation matters.
Minimum spend: typically £800 to £1,500 depending on travel, staff, and equipment.
These are guideposts. Your final price will be shaped by guest count, venue access, staffing, hires, and how bespoke the menu is. We’ll show you how to steer those variables to get the outcome you want without the stress.
Manchester-ready menu themes that always work
Manchester loves a bit of fusion and bold seasoning. If you want a menu that feels local without being predictable, try one of these approaches:
Northern Quarter Fusion: Think mezze meets sliders. Picture warm flatbreads, crisp falafel, smoky aubergine, and zingy chopped salads alongside mini halal beef or chicken sliders with house pickles. It’s casual and social, so guests can graze while they mingle. Perfect for co-working hubs and gallery-style lofts where people roam.

Curated suppliers
All Poptop’s suppliers are rigorously vetted and approved by our team of party experts, ensuring you book the very best.
Indo-Chinese halal street bites: Punchy, wok-fresh flavours with halal chicken or prawns, vegetable noodles, chilli-garlic cauliflower, and crowd-pleasing fried rice boxes. Service is fast, fragrance fills the room, and guests love the theatre of live stations. Brilliant for tech meetups, hack nights, and late kick-offs where people want hot food on the go.
Levantine mezze graze: A long, abundant graze with hummus, muhammara, olives, tabbouleh, charred veg, grilled halal meats, and filled pastries. This suits weddings, agency wrap parties, and family-first celebrations where variety and presentation matter. It also photographs beautifully in mills and rooftop settings.
Matching the format to your event
Here’s how we’d pair service with the Manchester events we see most often.
University balls: Buffet or plentiful grazing wins here. You get breadth of choice for mixed tastes and dietary needs. Build a table that pulls from Levantine mezze and Indo-Chinese heat, then add a couple of showstopper mains so guests feel it’s a step up from a standard social.
Tech meetups: Street-food all the way. Boxes and bowls that can be eaten one-handed while chatting, plus a few vegan and gluten-free options clearly labelled. Indo-Chinese noodles, bao-style buns, or mezze wraps are ideal. Keep service quick, and stagger cooking to match session breaks.
City weddings: If you want elegance, go plated. If you want community feel, consider a shared mezze starter followed by plated mains. For evening receptions, move to street-food stations for energy and variety. A halal-aware caterer will help you cover ceremonial timings and prayer breaks without fuss.
Match-day parties: Keep it bold and simple. Northern Quarter Fusion sliders, loaded fries, wings, and mezze sides travel well to suburban function rooms and living-room-plus-marquee setups. Schedule service before kick-off and at half-time. Make it hearty, label it clearly, and have a vegetarian plan ready.
Agency wrap parties: Food that feels premium without getting in the way of speeches. Mezze graze boards and canapés leading into hot street-food boxes are a smart blend. It looks stylish in a loft or studio and keeps people moving.
Venues and logistics: what to plan for in Manchester
Mills and lofts: Characterful, often with stairs and limited lifts. Ask about kitchen access, power points, and load-in routes. Confirm whether your caterer must bring a field kitchen.
Rooftop terraces: Check wind cover, rain plans, and any restrictions on open flames. Gas and power need sign-off well in advance.
Co-working hubs: Access windows can be tight. Confirm rubbish handling and out-of-hours policies. Many buildings insist on floor protection for pop-up kitchens.
Suburban function rooms: Usually easier access and parking. Agree on exact service windows to avoid clashing with DJs or children’s games.
We’ll help you share these details with your supplier so they can staff correctly and cost transparently.
Halal standards, sourcing, and certifications
You want certainty here. Ask suppliers to explain:
Meat sourcing and certification, plus whether it is stunned or non-stunned to meet your community’s expectations.
Segregation of utensils and fryers for halal vs vegetarian to avoid cross-contamination.
Alcohol policy in cooking. If you’re alcohol-free across the event, tell us early so we can align recipes, mocktails, and desserts.
Allergen handling. Clear labels for nuts, sesame, gluten, dairy, and soy aren’t optional.
A professional halal caterer will happily walk you through their process and send evidence when requested.
How to brief your caterer like a pro
Give us these points up front and you’ll get a sharper proposal:
Date, venue type, and access notes.
Guest count with a feel for the crowd. Students, families, colleagues, or a wedding mix.
Service style: street-food, buffet, plated, or a hybrid.
Menu direction. Northern Quarter Fusion, Indo-Chinese bites, Levantine graze, or a mix.
Timings. Reception, speeches, half-time service, last food call.
Look and feel. Industrial chic, bright and modern, or candlelit and elegant.
We’ll translate that into a clear menu, staffing plan, equipment list, and a quote that matches your budget.
Budget planning without surprises
It’s not just about food per head. Build your budget in layers:
Core food package per person in the relevant band.
Staff for service, chefs, and a lead. Quality service needs the right headcount.
Equipment and hires. Chafers, display ware, hot holding, field kitchens, or stations.
Delivery and load-in. Costs rise with tricky access or tight time windows.
Waste handling and break-down. Especially relevant for city venues with strict rules.
If your numbers are close to a minimum spend, consider increasing guest count or adding a late-night item to maximise the value. We’ll help you see where each pound goes.
Service flow that keeps the room buzzing
Great catering feels effortless because the plan is watertight. For Manchester events, we like to:
Open with a welcome graze or canapés so guests settle quickly.
Time mains for a natural lull between speeches or set changes.
Keep a hot station running for 60 to 90 minutes so latecomers aren’t left out.
Add a small dessert pass or sweet station to finish on a high.
Offer takeaway boxes only if agreed with the venue to avoid mess and extra waste.
Sustainability and sensible choices
If you’re aiming for lower waste and smarter sourcing:
Choose a tighter menu done brilliantly rather than a giant list.
Opt for reusable serveware and water stations instead of bottled water.
Use seasonal salads and veg to keep quality high and costs sensible.
Confirm that leftovers are handled safely. Donation is venue-dependent and must follow food safety rules.
Comparing proposals on a like-for-like basis
When you receive quotes, check:
Portion sizes and courses. Are you comparing two courses vs three.
Staff hours. Does the service window include set-up and break-down.
Equipment assumptions. Who supplies what and what’s included in the price.
Travel and access surcharges. Especially for city-centre rooftops and mills.
Allergen management and halal certification detail.
If something’s unclear, ask us to standardise the quotes so you can choose on quality, not guesswork.

Practical examples to spark your menu
Northern Quarter Fusion for a tech meetup: Mezze pots with whipped tahini, pickled veg, and herbed couscous plus halal chicken sliders with house slaw. Add a vegan shawarma wrap so no one feels left out.
Indo-Chinese for a match-day party: Chilli-garlic noodles, crispy cauliflower with spring onions, halal crispy chicken bites, and fried rice bowls. Hand out boxes before kick-off and again at half-time.
Levantine graze for a city wedding: Shared mezze starters across the table, plated mains of slow-roasted halal lamb or spiced cauliflower steak, then mini baklava and fruit to close. Later, a small street-food station to fuel the dance floor.
Common mistakes to avoid
Booking the venue without asking about catering access. Mills and rooftops need extra planning.
Over-ordering on variety instead of portion quality. Better to do a tight set well.
Forgetting late-night food. Manchester parties have stamina. Plan a second service.
Leaving allergens vague. Get it in writing early so labels are ready and safe.
