Good option for a mix of adults and children. Everyone enjoyed the freshly prepared food with good vegetarian and vegan option. Efficient service, feeding about 90 in an hour and a half.

Booked for Celebration
I booked Matei and team for a garden party for my son’s wedding. They arrived promptly and got set up and served 50 people with no hassle. We were very happy with the food and our guests loved it! Great value for money too! My only suggestion would be that a little improvement to communication would enhance the overall experience.

Planning food for a Leeds event and want it to feel warm, sociable, and full of flavour? Middle Eastern catering is a brilliant fit. It brings abundant sharing dishes, bright salads, smoky grills, and generous hospitality that suits everything from tech mixers in city offices to late-night festival after-parties in converted mills. In this guide we’ll walk through what to book, where it works best, how to set a budget, and the small details that make a big difference. We’ll keep it practical and Leeds-specific, so you can move from idea to booking with confidence.
Why Middle Eastern Food Works So Well in Leeds
Leeds has a lively events scene with a strong appetite for global flavours. The Middle Eastern style is all about sharing and mingling, which is perfect for social spaces across the city. Think mezze tables at modern offices near the waterfront, charcoal-kissed skewers in countryside barns, or plant-forward buffets for creative agencies in Holbeck studios. Guests can pick and mix, chat, and go back for seconds. It’s relaxed, generous, and genuinely memorable.
What Middle Eastern Catering Includes
Middle Eastern is a broad region with lots of delicious crossover. You’ll usually see:
Mezze spreads with hummus, smoky aubergine, zesty salads, pickles, olives, and warm flatbreads
Skewers and grills such as chicken marinated in lemon and herbs, lamb kofta with spices, or saffron-scented Persian options
Slow-cooked classics like spiced rice with nuts and herbs, or tomato-based stews
Fresh vegetarian and vegan choices built around pulses, grains, and seasonal veg
Finishing touches such as tahini dressings, pomegranate, sumac, and fresh herbs
You can serve it as canapés, buffet, family-style sharing platters, or as live stations where chefs cook to order.
Leeds Event Types That Suit Middle Eastern Menus
Middle Eastern catering adapts to almost any format. Here’s how we’d shape it around popular Leeds occasions.
Corporate away-days
Set up a bright mezze lunch with fresh salads, grilled chicken or halloumi, and a few sweet bites for the afternoon slump. Works well when you need quick service and easy diet-friendly options.
Start-up mixers
Finger-friendly mezze bowls and warm flatbreads help guests network without juggling cutlery. Add a shawarma carving station or a falafel bar for a talking point.
Anniversaries
Go family-style with big sharing platters at the table. Include a celebratory rice dish with nuts and saffron, plus colourful salads so every plate looks special.

The Original Authentic Lebanese Street Food Service

Our menu consists of the food I want to eat and in my opinion, it’s the best part of Lebanese street food all in one place. For the carnivores, the Shish Tawouk and Shish Lahme are your juicy chicken and lamb fixes. For the health-conscious, falafel and hummus salad bowls provide you with a tasty gourmet feed without the guilt. And finally, the cheese fans get their hit of the best cheese you can get… halloumi.

Hen or stag suppers
Keep it social and generous. Start with mezze and mocktails, build your own wrap station, and finish with something sweet and sticky.
Venues and Layouts That Work in and Around Leeds
Leeds offers brilliant spaces. Middle Eastern food is adaptable, but a few venue-specific tips help everything run smoothly.
Historic mills
Raw brick and high ceilings love the theatre of live grilling. Check extraction rules and outdoor space for charcoal. If indoors, opt for electric planchas or fully pre-grilled items finished on site.
Barns
Great airflow and plenty of room. Sharing platters look fantastic on long trestle tables. Flag power points and any surface restrictions before finalising cooking kit.
Modern offices
Keep it clean and quick. Use mezze bars, salad bowls, and hot mains delivered in chafers. Live stations can work on balconies or terraces if your building allows.
City hotels
Perfect for smart plated service or premium buffets. Ask the caterer to align with hotel timelines for lifts and load-in to avoid clashes with other events.
Suburban marquees
Plan for grass or uneven ground. You’ll want sturdy flooring for service areas, weather protection for prep, and adequate lighting for evening service.
Signature Themes That Fit Leeds
Leeds has its own flavour. Lean into it with one of these themes.
Yorkshire mezze table
A generous, colourful spread where guests graze at leisure. Pile high bowls of hummus, aubergine salad, crunchy slaw with sumac, fragrant rice, and warm flatbreads. Add a carving platter of spiced chicken or lamb and a hero vegan centrepiece.
Persian saffron grill
Focus on aromatic skewers and saffron rice. Serve with grilled vegetables, tangy pickles, and a bright herb salad. Great for barns and mills where you can add the theatre of smoke and flame.
Levantine vegan feast
Build a fully plant-based menu that feels abundant. Falafel, cauliflower with tahini, tomato and herb salads, lentil rice, and zingy dressings. It satisfies mixed diets without fuss.
What You Should Budget in Leeds
Pricing varies with guest count, location, service time, and whether you choose live cooking. For a quick benchmark:
Casual 13 to 21 pounds per person
Classic 21 to 33 pounds per person
Premium 38 to 62 pounds per person
Live stations 55 to 90 pounds per person
Minimum spend typically 600 to 1,000 pounds
Use these ranges to shortlist suppliers that match your plan. If your headcount is small, a minimum spend may guide you toward a slightly higher tier so you get the most value from the team on site.
Building the Right Package for Your Event
Here’s how we’d shape typical Leeds bookings.
Casual
Ideal for start-up mixers or post-meeting lunches. Mezze bowls, one hot protein or a vegan main, salad, bread, and a sweet finish. Self-serve or light staffing.
Classic
Adds variety and a bit more theatre. Wider mezze, two hot mains, rice and grilled veg, plus desserts. Friendly staff manage service and keep everything topped up.
Premium
Perfect for milestone anniversaries or hotels. Canapés on arrival, a planned sequence of dishes, table service for platters, and a hero dessert. Styling and premium ingredients elevate the experience.
Live stations
Chefs slicing shawarma or grilling skewers to order. Works brilliantly in mills and barns. Expect a higher per-person price in exchange for theatre and speed.
Quantities, Staffing, and Timing
Portions
Plan for one and a half to two flatbreads per person, 200 to 250 grams of salads, and 150 to 200 grams of protein or equivalent plant main. For late-night food, lighter portions work well.
Staffing
As a rule of thumb, one staff member per 25 to 30 guests for buffet service. Add dedicated chefs for live stations.
Service flow
Aim for 60 to 90 minutes for relaxed buffets. For busy corporate schedules, set a 30 minute service window and brief the team to keep queues short.
Dietary and Cultural Notes
Middle Eastern menus are naturally friendly to varied diets. It’s easy to craft thoughtful vegetarian and vegan lines that feel like the main event. Gluten free options can be built around salads, rice, and grilled items. If you require halal meat, tell the supplier early so they can confirm certification and plan the supply chain. Clear labelling at the buffet keeps guests informed and relaxed.
Logistics Checklist for Leeds Venues
Access and parking time for load-in
Power points and any restrictions on gas or charcoal
Extraction or outdoor space if grilling
Prep tent or back-of-house area in marquees and barns
Table hire, linen, serveware, and bins
Wet weather plan in case service is outside
Clear plan for leftover food and waste removal
When to Book and How to Secure a Great Fit
For summer barns and popular city dates, book 8 to 12 weeks out if you can. Corporate planners can move faster with weekday slots. Weekends in festival season tend to go first. Share your guest count, venue, and theme early, then lock in the key kit such as grills and stations. A quick tasting can be helpful for premium events, though many menus are tried and tested and can be chosen from clear packs.

Sample Menus to Spark Ideas
Use these outlines as a starting point and tweak to taste.
Mezze for a start-up mixer
Hummus, smoky aubergine, tomato and herb salad, pickles, warm flatbreads, grilled chicken or halloumi skewers, and a tray of sweet pastries. Self-serve on long tables with small plates.
Persian saffron grill for a barn anniversary
Saffron chicken and lamb kofta with herb rice, grilled vegetables, yoghurt and tahini dressings, fresh herb salads, and a citrusy dessert. Served family-style down the table.
Levantine vegan feast for an office celebration
Falafel, cauliflower with tahini, lentil rice with onions and herbs, seasonal salads, and a jewel-like fruit platter. Label everything clearly and offer gluten free bread.
Late-night mill after-party
Wrap station with carved spiced chicken, roasted veg, crunchy slaw, pickles, and sauces. Fast service so guests get fed between sets.
Common Pitfalls and How to Avoid Them
Not allowing enough space for a queue
Even with efficient service, people gather. Plan a clear line and avoid blocking doors or bars.
Underestimating bread
Warm flatbreads fly. Order a little extra so the mezze never runs dry.
Forgetting lighting for outdoor stations
If the party runs past sunset, your chefs need light to work safely and plate beautifully.
Overcomplicating the menu
A tight menu, done well, beats a sprawling list. Focus on a few hero flavours and make them sing.
