Our event went very well indeed and we had around 63 people there - many older people who appreciated the older songs which were rendered. Unfortunately, the steam from the boiler set off the fire alarm mid song, but Ruby was very adapt at responding. We went outside for ten minutes whilst someone came and reset the alarm and Ruby came in and carried on whilst people returned to the room and it helped people settle down again. She was really brilliant in this respect. Thank you

Had Tony for a surprise 100th Birthday Party . Everyone really enjoyed Tony singing he created a wonderful atmosphere for our garden party, very professional and a lovely voice. Someone passing the garden even came to ask for his details as they had thought he was wonderful.
Tony sang an array of songs that fitted in with the mood and those present I would definitely ask him to come back and entertain again, great value for money. Thank you Tony

Antony performed for our Valentines Dinner Dance, he was totally professional, amazing vocals and floor craft and on time to set up. Our guests totally enjoyed his performance and he captured them with his first song, performing a good range, first half being a sit down section were guests were singing along and swaying in their seats which was perfect for after dinner and the second half for getting up to have a dance, will definitely be booking again and would have no hesitation in recommending him. Well done Antony you completed our event and made it a sure success! Look forward to working with you again Best wishes Tracy

We delivered next level parties for exceptional companies
We also did more than 40,000 birthday parties. Probably, including your neighbour’s recent big bash.
Rat Pack & Swing Singers in Birmingham: A Buyer’s Guide
If you’re picturing tuxedos, velvety vocals and that effortless old-school charm, you’re in the right place. Hiring Rat Pack and swing singers is a brilliant way to bring a touch of classic glamour to a Birmingham celebration. From Broad Street ballrooms to Sutton Coldfield marquees, the city suits swing like a dinner jacket. In this guide we’ll walk you through what to book, what it costs in Birmingham, and how to make the show feel tailor-made for your crowd.
Why Birmingham is a Natural Home for Swing
Birmingham has always mixed industry with artistry. That blend works beautifully for Rat Pack-style entertainment. We’ve got grand hotel spaces for black-tie dinners, handsome townhouses for intimate receptions, and plenty of leafy gardens for marquee parties. It means we can scale the same vintage vibe from a candlelit supper for 50 to a conference gala for 500 without losing the sparkle.
What You Actually Get When You Book
Rat Pack and swing acts on Poptop come in different shapes. Here’s how to think about it.
Solo singer with high-quality backing tracks for compact spaces, quick setups and tighter budgets.
Duo or trio with keys and sax for that warm, live jazz feel without the footprint of a big band.
Full band line-ups for true big-room energy, with rhythm section and horns that lift the roof during the finale.
Tribute sets focusing on Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. or Michael Bublé-leaning swing, plus blended shows that weave in modern pop re-imagined in a swing style.
Whichever format you choose, expect a slick set list, smart attire, friendly hosting on the mic and a repertoire that moves from cocktail hour cool to dance floor classics when the time is right.
Price Guide for Birmingham
For Birmingham and surrounding areas, typical pricing for Rat Pack and swing singers sits around £300 to £650. Where you’ll land in that range depends on:
Performance length, number of sets and any late-finish request
Solo vs live band, and whether you want horns
Travel and load-in logistics for your venue type
Extra items like a daytime jazz set for drinks, or a customised first dance arrangement
If that’s your ballpark, you’re set. If you’re weighing two options, remember that live instrumentation adds atmosphere in larger spaces, while a premium soloist can be unbeatable for smaller rooms where intimacy matters more than volume.

A theme doesn’t have to be heavy-handed. It’s simply a direction for styling, song choices and pacing. These three work a treat locally:
Brum meets Broadway: lean into the grand hotel look with tuxes, showtunes in the first set, and a swing-to-soul second half for dancing.
Industrial glam swing: a nod to the city’s metalwork heritage. Think sleek staging, brushed brass accents, and punchier arrangements that feel modern without losing the crooner core.
Back to the Brummie jet-set: mid-century travel posters, classic cocktails, and a set list that moves from Sinatra staples to jet-age pop given the swing treatment.
Match the Act to Your Event
Let’s map Birmingham’s most common bookings to formats and flow so you can picture the night.
Alumni Dinner
Arrival: solo swing over canapés, keeping conversation easy.
Main: duo or trio with keys and sax for the meal, segueing between courses.
After-dinner: a tailored sing-along closer such as My Way or Fly Me to the Moon to cap the speeches.
Why it works: polished but low-stress entertainment that keeps old friends chatting and the room feeling special.
Birthday Milestone
Arrival: a short crooner set while guests assemble.
Main: a livelier second set that blends Rat Pack with feel-good rock’n’roll and a few modern tunes re-worked in a swing style.
Moment piece: a personalised version of the celebrant’s favourite number for cake or a toast.
Why it works: it balances nostalgia with fun, and the host gets a spotlight moment without it turning into karaoke.
Hotel Conference Dinner
Arrival: instrumental jazz trio to soften the room and set a premium tone.
Main: after awards, a compact 45-minute Rat Pack hit list to raise energy fast.
Add-ons: walk-on stings for winners, wireless mic for the MC, and a tight changeover with the venue’s AV.
Why it works: it’s professional, precise, and designed for schedules where minutes matter.
Garden Marquee in Sutton Coldfield
Arrival: soloist for the first hour, timed around fizz and photos.
Main: two evening sets with a first dance or family song, then swing-to-party crossovers for dancing.
Practicalities: weather-ready PA, safe power to the marquee, flooring for the band, and subtle festoon lighting.
Why it works: it feels like a private concert in the garden, but with all the right technical boxes ticked.
Venues and Spaces Made for Swing
Hotel ballroom near Broad Street: big ceilings, polished acoustics and a natural stage area work beautifully for tuxedoed singers. A duo or small band fills the room without overpowering tables.
Historic townhouse: put the singer by the staircase or in a drawing room. Opt for a soloist or keys-led duo to keep things elegant and conversational.
Marquee in Sutton Coldfield: create a designated performance corner, ensure flooring for the band, add a little uplit backdrop, and you’ll turn canvas into cabaret.
Repertoire Ideas That Keep It Fresh
A well-built set should glide from romance to rhythm. Here’s a structure that wins in Birmingham:
Warm welcome: Fly Me to the Moon, I’ve Got You Under My Skin, Sway
Dinner polish: That’s Amore, Ain’t That a Kick in the Head, The Way You Look Tonight
Switch up: a few Bublé-style arrangements and a cheeky swing take on a modern favourite
Big finish: New York, New York into a dance classic so everyone ends on their feet
If you want to personalise, share a handful of “must-plays” and “please-avoid” titles. Good singers build the perfect arc when they know your crowd.
Sound, Light and Layout in Birmingham Spaces
PA: most acts bring a compact, great-sounding system. Larger rooms may benefit from the venue’s installed PA and an engineer.
Lighting: warm white front light and a couple of soft washes keep the look classy. Swing doesn’t need lasers.
Stage: a riser is ideal but not essential. A neat 3 by 2 metre footprint works for a duo.
Sound checks: allow 60 minutes for bands, 30 for soloists. If you’re in a hotel, align with room flips to avoid disruption.
Noise management: for townhouses and gardens, agree finish times and keep bass modest. The crooner aesthetic thrives on clarity, not volume.

Photo moments: a quick photo op with the singer after the first set looks great in the album.
Signature tune: choose one song to be your theme for the night and build around it.
Room reveal: time the opening number to the moment guests enter the ballroom or marquee.
