Philbert arrived on time and kept the children interested.
I had a pizza making party so last minute panicked where I could find some entertainment to keep the children still and engaged.
Philbert can be highly recommended for this.
All the children were engaged by him and he certainly is worth considering if you are looking for entertainment for your birthday parties!
Thanks Philbert for saving the day!

Lee was fabulous for my husband's 40th birthday celebrations after we'd eaten. There was a range of ages from 14 months all the way through to adults and he made magic moments with everyone. All our guests commented on the magic that he showed on the night. I loved his approach to trick delivery with stories to build up the magic and then moving on quickly after our minds had been blown which left people wondering how he'd done his tricks. A brilliant magician and also a really nice guy. He was great with communication too as the party was a total surprise for my husband. Thanks for everything and I hope you continue to keep blowing minds like you did ours!

I planned a surprise birthday lunch for my partner and Connor's performance set the tone for an amazing evening. None of the guests knew that Connor would be joining, so it was really fun to see their reactions as he started doing some magic. The setting was small and intimate (we were in a private dining room) and this allowed Connor to personally interact with each of us. It's been week after the event and everyone is still talking about it and trying to guess how each trick (or illusion :D) was done. Thanks so much Connor for making our day special! I'd definitely recommend to all :)

Chris is a very professional and considerate artist. Many people were initially reluctant to be hypnotised but as he explained the process he set everyone at ease and had far more volunteers than he needed. His show isn't about humiliation or ridicule but it is really entertaining, funny and all those who took part went away feeling better than before and a lot more relaxed. I can highly recommend Chris, if you book him you won't be disappointed!

Wedding magicians in Birmingham: big-room energy, zero fuss
If you’re planning a Birmingham wedding and want entertainment that hits every table and every age group, a wedding magician in Birmingham is a winning move. The city is built for generous parties, from big hotel ballrooms and conference suites to relaxed canalside spaces. Close-up magic, visual reveals and quick-fire mind-reading slip neatly into your day, keeping the mood buoyant while rooms turn around, photos happen and guests settle. It’s interactive, it scales for large guest lists, and it delivers those priceless reaction shots your photographer will love.
We’ve put together a practical buyer’s guide tailored to Birmingham venues and schedules. It covers where magic lands best, how to brief for bigger rooms, what to budget and the simple logistics that make everything run smoothly. By the end, you’ll know exactly how to book a wedding magician in Birmingham with confidence.
Where a magician makes the biggest difference
Birmingham weddings often mean generous guest counts and spaces that shift across the day. A professional wedding magician thrives in that environment, giving you flexible coverage without getting in the way of the running order.
All-day coverage for large guest lists
For a big ballroom or a sprawling conference suite, consider a plan that spans the key moments. Close-up during the reception to break the ice, table magic across courses to keep energy up, and a short focused pass during the evening for friends who missed the earlier sets. Spreading contact points ensures every table gets attention. If your guest list is over 150, ask whether a second magician is sensible. Two performers can work opposite sides of the room and keep timings tight without feeling rushed.
Family-friendly roaming during the reception
Birmingham weddings are famously multi-generational. During drinks and canapés, a magician can mix light, visual material for adults with a few age-appropriate pieces that delight children. Think borrowed objects, clean visual moments and mind-reading presented with humour rather than theatre. It feels inclusive and instantly warms the room.
An early-evening parlour set for one shared gasp
Just before the band or DJ turns the volume up, gather everyone for a compact 10 to 15 minute parlour set. This is a stand-up routine that plays to the full room without full stage rigging. It resets attention, gives late arrivals a shared moment and bridges neatly into the first dance or cake cutting. In bigger rooms, it’s also a chance to deliver one memorable prediction or reveal that people talk about all night.

Birmingham’s wedding spaces have personality and scale. The best wedding magicians shape their material to the room so nothing gets lost.
Big hotel ballrooms
Ballrooms are brilliant for flow and service, and they reward visual, quick material that reads from a few metres away. Your magician will keep routines tight between courses and steer clear of speeches. For a parlour set, designate a small performance area with clear sightlines. Ask the venue about a microphone and a simple PA, or check whether your performer can supply a compact system suitable for 80 to 200 guests.
Conference suites with flexible layouts
Conference spaces often re-set between ceremony, reception and dinner. That’s perfect for magic because the performer can pivot as the room changes. During the reception they roam and mingle. During dinner they hop table to table. When the evening guests arrive, a short set pulls the full crowd together before dancing. Clear liaison with the coordinator keeps the magician away from service routes and staging shifts.
Canalside spaces with movement between areas
If you’re hosting near the water with indoor and outdoor zones, brief your magician on the layout and the handover points. Visual material plays well in bright natural light. Wind-sensitive items will be swapped for bolder moments that still photograph beautifully. Keep a sheltered corner ready if the weather turns, and plan a short inside set just before dusk for the best light and attention.
Style choices that land in bigger rooms
A wedding magician in Birmingham should combine charm, clarity and a knack for reading the room. For larger venues and mixed audiences, we recommend you look for the following.
Interactive and visual material that scales. Coins, rings and cards are great close-up, but the best performers also carry moments that read clearly to groups several steps away.
A humour-forward approach. Birmingham crowds appreciate warmth and wit. You want patter that keeps people laughing without stealing focus from speeches or service.
Bilingual where useful. If your guest list brings multiple languages, ask about short multilingual patter or more visual routines. Many magicians in the West Midlands scene can adapt so everyone feels included.
Compact, tidy setups. Ballrooms and conference suites need clear aisles for waiting staff. A pocket-sized prop load keeps things elegant and safe.
An optional parlour set. A tight 10 to 15 minutes with a microphone and simple staging is ideal for one shared wow-moment before the evening party kicks off.
What it costs to hire a wedding magician in Birmingham
For budgeting, plan around these typical fees for the city and surrounding areas.
Two hours of close-up or table magic sits between £400 and £700. Price depends on date, season and profile.
If you add a short parlour set, it may be included at the upper end of the range. If extra sound or staging is required, a small add-on is common.
Rates can rise for peak Saturdays from late spring through early autumn, holiday periods and very late finishes. If your plan involves coverage across separate floors or a split venue, mention it at enquiry so your quote reflects the real movement and time.
Money-smart idea: a focused 90 minutes to two hours placed across reception and the early part of dinner delivers most of the impact for typical guest counts. If you want the shared moment later, some performers will swap the final table pass for a short parlour piece without extending the booking.
Shortlisting like a pro
You’ll find lots of talent in and around Birmingham. To choose with confidence, use a simple checklist.
Watch recent clips filmed at real weddings. You’re listening for clarity in noisy rooms and watching how guests react when the performer moves on.
Read reviews that mention weddings, large rooms and family-friendly sets. Corporate feedback is useful, but tone and timing can be different.
Ask for a clear outline. For example: reception roaming, table magic between starter and main, early-evening parlour set. Structure signals experience.
Check capacity and coverage. For 140 guests across 14 tables, can one magician cover between courses without rushing, or do they recommend a second performer.
Confirm essentials. Public liability insurance is standard. If any sound kit is supplied, it should be PAT tested. A backup plan for delays is a good sign.
Look for neat prop management. Conference suites and ballrooms benefit from performers who can work cleanly without spreading items on dining surfaces.
Questions we like to ask:
In our venue, which moments will land biggest and why.
How will you coordinate with the venue team, photographer and band.
If timings slip, how do you keep coverage fair across tables and guest groups.
Red flags to avoid:
“We’ll just see on the day” for a large guest list.
Heavy reliance on bulky props that take floor space.
Vague answers about sound, sightlines or safety.
Sample running orders that work in Birmingham
To help you visualise the flow, here are three tried-and-tested outlines tailored to the city’s most common spaces.
The ballroom celebration with a big guest list
Guests arrive for welcome drinks while the couple start photos. The magician begins after ten minutes, working the clusters near the entrance and bar.
Family photos and room turns continue. The magician rotates through new arrivals and the VIP table, saving one signature routine for the couple when they return.
Guests are seated. Tight, two to five minute table sets land between starter and main. The performer avoids speeches and keeps to the service rhythm.
Just before dessert, a 12 minute parlour set gathers the room. A single prediction finishes the piece and transitions neatly to cake or first dance.
The conference suite day-to-night
Ceremony in the main space, reception in the foyer. The magician roams, mixing visual effects with light mind-reading to warm up conversation.
Guests head back into the main room for dinner. The performer moves table to table across two courses, ensuring coverage for every group.
As evening guests arrive, a tight stand-up set pulls everyone together. After that, a final sweep near the bar targets friends who prefer to chat rather than dance.
The canalside wedding with indoor and outdoor zones
Reception outside if the weather allows. The magician focuses on visual pieces that read well in bright light and light breezes.
Dinner inside, with table magic between courses. Short routines avoid blocking service routes.
After sunset, a compact parlour moment in a well-lit corner resets attention, sets up the cake cut and hands over to the DJ.
Practicalities that keep the day smooth
Small choices up front make a big difference on the day.
Sound and sightlines. For any stand-up moment, confirm a microphone and a small PA. If the venue does not provide these, ask whether the magician can supply a compact system suitable for your guest count.
Lighting. Good light helps both magic and photography. Avoid placing the performer with a bright window directly behind them.
Coordination. Introduce the magician to the coordinator, photographer and band leader. That single step avoids clashes with key shots, service runs and music cues.
Children and families. Share ages and numbers if you have many younger guests. A professional will balance material so it stays wedding-focused rather than turning into a kids’ show.
Accessibility and space. Keep chair gaps wide enough for a smooth table-to-table route. If you have guests with mobility needs, mark those tables on the plan so the performer can approach with extra care.
Weather backup. For canalside or courtyard plans, keep a sheltered corner ready. Material will adapt, but a fallback keeps timings consistent.
