Services From The WonderWhys
Funk/Rock/Indie/Party Band available for Functions, Birthdays, Weddings, Corporate and Private Parties
We play upbeat party music with a leaning to the funk side of affairs - complete with sun-soaked vocal harmonies - which lends itself very well to events, parties, weddings, functions. Awards Ceremonies, Conferences and even product launches. Depending on the audience, we can tailor the set accordingly - making it predominantly retro, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, 00’s or present day, funk-orientated, rock-orientated, indie-orientated, Christmas-orientated, a healthy mix of all, and so on...
We’re used to playing anything from small, intimate venues, dressing up smart for weddings, or playing to thousands at some of the UK’s top venues.
In 2017 we played The Alexandra Palace (Ally Pally) to 6 thousand people, were joined onstage by Damon Chivers (Fender Guitars UK), and were even asked back again to play The London Fireworks Festival there in the Autumn to 6 thousand again. Inbetween that, we played the “festival at sea” that was the Rock The Boat Cruise 2017 - supporting the likes of Suzi Quatro, Slade, The Yardbirds, The Troggs and Big Country. Corporate Clients “Proseccofest” were exceptionally happy with us playing to 2000 ladies in Nottingham in 2018, and that December saw us opening up for legendary Manchester Band - The Happy Mondays - in Chesterfield, at The Avenue.
We also go out as an Acoustic Duo with a completely reworked set which is still upbeat, yet more chilled and stripped back - ideal for pubs, cocktail bars, bistros, restaurants and even certain parts of wedding ceremonies.
We recorded some tracks and a video with the producer of the Platinum-Selling Arctic Monkeys’ debut album “Whatever you say we are...” - Alan Smyth - at 2Fly Studios in Sheffield, and also made some videos ourselves with outtakes of footage from those recording sessions in Sheffield, and The Ally Pally gigs in London.
We just recorded a live gig with The Prodigy's cameraman

When I went looking for a band for my husband's 60th Birthday party I didn't have a clue where to start. I discovered Poptop and searched through the bands available for the date. What helped me choose The Wonder Whys was their demo and the reviews they had on the site. It is always a leap in the dark when choosing a band for a one off event but I need not have worried. Contact via phone and email directly with the band prior to the party was friendly, timely and informative. I cannot praise the band highly enough, they obviously enjoy performing and their enthusiasm is infectious, their music was exactly what I wanted. Ours was a small event with a range of ages, but they got people up and dancing and the made the party complete. They have a fabulous sound, are lovely people and I cannot thank them enough for making the party perfect, would highly recommend. Husband was delighted and family and friends impressed.

The WonderWhys were my favourite band on the Cruise, had the whole lounges dancing, and never played the same set twice in the whole week! I even went to see them at The Ally Pally a few months later. Heartily recommended
