Dawntreader are a powerful and dynamic Ceilidh/Barn Dance Band with Caller.
We are a 3 piece Ceilidh Band playing English, Irish, Scottish and some European music. Our mix of traditional folk music with strong melodies and powerful rhythms is ideally suited to Ceilidh and Barn Dances.
Debs, our Caller has 15 yrs of experience in Calling with Ceilidh Bands and has Dances to suit all abilities, including some fun dances for the little ones. She has been the resident Caller with the Dawntreaders since 2009, and has grown with the Band into a highly professional Wedding Ceilidh Caller, although she is equally at home with a local village hall Party.
Our Musicians are :-
Lynn Fiddle : I don't need to say much about her playing, the music sample speaks for itself. She is a gifted Musician with ability rarely seen at this level. She plays a 5 string Fiddle, which gives her an extended range of notes compared to a standard 4 string. Mel has been playing continuously with Lynn since 2005, when they first met in the Wunjo Ceilidh Band.
Mel Guitar : for people to dance, a band has to provide a basic rhythm and Mel does this in spades. He plays electric guitar as the tonal pallet is much richer than an electro-accoustic and has more rhythmic 'punch'. Many Bands are too 'twee' in the Rhythm section making it difficult to follow the music when dancing. This is especially true for inexperienced dancers, which many Wedding Guests, for example, will be.
John Accordion : John deserves an extra mention as his Accordion is a Roland FR-4X, which effectively means it is a synthesiser in Accordion guise. it provides all the usual and traditional Accordion voices, but it can also synthesise any other instrument from the Orchestra. eg a string section or Clarinet, trumpet etc. it is usally set up to play a plucked double bass on the left hand and Accordion Voices on the righthand side, which means that although you will SEE 3 musicians, you will normally HEAR at least 4 instruments. This is the root of our full and powerful sound. John joined Mel and Lynn in 2009 to form The Dawntreader Ceilidh Band.
We have Public Liability Insurance and all our equipment is PAT tested.
