SUSAN BLACK SINGS PIAF

"I loved this evening of the songs of Edit Piaff along with stories from her life. Susan Black not only has a voice which evokes Piaff but also the feeling behind the music and lyrics. This show was well attended considering it was the evening which saw 'The Beast From The East' descend upon London, forcing most people to stay indoors. For me watching the swirling snow through the window made a backdrop to this wonderful evening which made it even more memorable.

This marvellously talented performer re-created Piaf in the very appropriate Gallic surrounds of the Cafe Rouge in Hampstead: her review recounts a fascinating tale of Piaf's extraordinary life with well-told stories, easy and appropriate guitar and the voice of a fallen angel. It is a brilliant show, well worth travelling to see.

If you didn't know better, you might think that Edith Piaf had come back to life. Susan's story of the 'little sparrow' and accompanying signature songs fill the room with energy, emotion and a dash of 'Frenchness.' Susan's singing is spectacular and so is her mastery of the accompanying guitar in this wonderful one-woman show.' Her self-effacing style makes the audience relax -- and she even got us to sing! Don't miss this!

Susan Black has one of the most stunning powerful voices I've ever heard. The Piaf show is simply †̃magnifiqueâ€TM. The intimate venue and having Susan just singing few metres from us made this show quiet unique. Her interpretation of Piaf is marvellous, she puts so much emotion in each song and her voice control is extraordinary. I hope Susan gets the recognition she deserves.
