Sonore is an award winning professional string duo, trio or quartet available for corporate and private events as well as weddings. We are also a founding member of the Association of British Wedding Businesses. As a highly experienced group with over 120 years of collective professional music making, performing in orchestral concerts, theatre, operas and other chamber music groups as well as playing as Sonore String Quartet. We endeavour to use the same core group of players so that the Sonore ‘sound’ is consistent. As well as being colleagues, we are great friends, showing in the enjoyment and energy we have in our playing.
We are skilled at ‘reading’ our audiences and can adapt to this with the pieces we play for you. Many of our arrangements (over 800!) are done by our players and are unique to Sonore - we can also create bespoke arrangements for you. We have a wide-ranging repertoire and are equally at home playing everything from well-known classics to current RnB, rock and pop music.
Every event and occasion is both individual and special and we take pride in working with you to create the perfect musical atmosphere for your civil or church wedding ceremony, drinks reception, dinner party or any other occasion you may be hosting. Sonore have played in many prestigious venues including Windsor Castle, Blenheim Palace, Bath Assembly Rooms, Leeds Castle, Kirtlington Park House, and the IoD on Pall Mall.
Our players have studied with teachers from top UK conservatoires and worked with well-known conductors such as Sir Neville Marriner, Sir Yehudi Menuhin, Owain Arwel-Hughes; worked with the Bochmann and Chilingirian Quartets, as well as playing for Royal Scottish National, BBC Concert Orchestra, BBC Radio Orchestra and the BBC Philharmonic.

So, I was looking for a string quartet for my proposal event and I saw and reviewed the Sonore String Quartet and was impressed by their fantastic reviews.
I am here to add to those reviews, they were absolutely amazing!! Before I'd even confirmed the booking, I was in touch with Kathryn about the event and a tailored list of songs that I wanted for the proposal. She said that if they didn't know it, they'd obtain the sheet music for it so they could perform it, nothing was too much trouble.
The payment transaction was a doddle and I was provided a copy of the invoice. Then, they liaised with the venue to establish their entry (a fair bit of sneaking around was required as to not give the game away!) and as we walked up the pathway towards the area booked out, oh, such sweet music!
Luckily, my now fiancée didn't twig that they were there for her, allowing us to have time to pick the right moment to give myself a well earned knee ache!
Sonore String Quartet brought such a degree of elegance and classiness to the event and made such beautiful music for all my family to enjoy. And to boot, they were absolute troopers on quite a blustery, cold day. They are a credit to their profession, book them, you definitely won't regret it, I certainly don't! Sonorestrings completed our wedding ceremony!!! Kathryn and the rest of the team were so lovely and accommodating to our constantly changing plans throughout the pandemic. We ended up having an intimate smaller church ceremony that was on a live stream to all our family and friends across the world. Our virtual guests absolutely LOVED the music choices ranging from classical, to film, to hymns, and finally including Bollywood classics during the signing of the register which was a lovely nod to our Indian culture! Even our Priest and the Church Stewards were so delighted to have the strings trio play as it's something they have never had at a wedding in the Church before! Really pleased we booked the talented Sonorestrings as they made our ceremony extra special! ❤

Sonore strings were one of the biggest highlights of our wedding. Communication leading up to the event were always immediate. They were able to put together special requests and most importantly played absolutely perfectly on the day. So much so it made the bride (me) cry and we received several comments from our friends and family that the strings made the ceremony so special. Sonore String Quartet performed at our wedding on Saturday 4th May 2019 in Shrewsbury and we couldn’t be happier!They played as our guests arrived, the ceremony and reception drinks. From the initial enquiry we were extremely happy with the personal service we received from Kathryn, responses were helpful and quick - even when we were delayed ourselves. We took a while to decide on our song choices, but Kathryn and the rest of the group were very accommodating and played ...a huge range of styles for us, from a suggestion from the grooms grandad to learning a song especially for the groom (Final Fantasy sound track) which he absolutely loved for before the ceremony. On to classical and modern pop for the rest. Even though the sun was shining the air was cold being an outdoor ceremony but they all played through it like troopers to enable us to have our dream ceremony. Once again, a huge thank you to all of you in Sonore String Quartet for making the journey to be a part of our wedding day, both the two of us and our guests LOVED having you there and listening to you play. Just wanted to say thank you for organising the very memorable music for our wedding on 6 April. Everyone complimented both Giles's playing in the church and the trio in the pub - sadly we missed them in The Rosendale as we went to have some photos taken nearby but I will never forget Giles playing Pachelbel's Canon as I walked down the aisle and also the two Elgar tunes. I know our guests enjoyed the trio in The Rosendale very much.

We have so many as we have been professional musicians for so long. We love seeing our clients tapping their feet and having a ‘boogie’ as we play and big smiles on the faces of our clients as we play a song they’ve requested.
We love working with clients on their music choices in the lead up to their event. We have a huge repertoire list of over 650 songs and will also arrange pieces for you if we don’t have them
We work at any type of formal or informal events including parties, formal evening events and weddings.
We have worked for numerous clients including large corporations and families.

Yes - one of our players will arrange it for you provided we can find sheet music.
We would usually take a quick break at a convenient point - perhaps during a relocation or during speeches.
Our repertoire list is always being added to and our personnel can even arrange things that we don’t already have
