SHENANIGAN – CELTIC & PARTY MUSIC – SCOTTISH & IRISH - SPECIALIZING IN – CEILIDH – TRADITIONAL SONGS & TUNES

Shenanigan are a Sussex based traditional folk party band, known for warm & friendly live stage shows.
Having both Irish and Scottish members we cover authentically cover Irish or Scottish songs as well as instrumental jigs and reels.
If you would like a Barn Dance/Ceilidh at your function we can provide this complete with Caller & Musicians. The Band play traditional as well as modern instruments for a selection of fast & slow Country Dances.
The full line up is a quartet but we also play as duos or trios if this line up suits the event.

Thanks to Shenanigan for making my 70th Birthday Ceilidh evening go so well.
The dances , pace, calling etc., were perfect in encouraging everyone, including some who never normally dance at all, as well as the children, to try it and to enjoy themselves.

Excellent ceilidh band and hassle free to deal with. We hired Shenanigan for our wedding, they were really good at getting everyone involved and all had a great time. We also took the option of the DJ package so we could play our own music between sets. They added to making it a thoroughly enjoyable day for everyone and I couldn't recommend them highly enough.

Great communication from the band from the outset. I couldn't recommend them enough, I had them for the evening entertainment at my wedding and they were a great hit! Everyone got up and danced, it was such fun and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Thank you for an amazing evening!

Irish Band With Vocalist - 2 x 1 Hour

Shenanigan is a Celtic Band based in the South of England When performing we can provide a range of entertainment including: Songs, Instrumentals and even Ceilidh with caller if required. The line-up for would be: Singer/ Guitarist along with a mixture of instrumentalists, including Fiddle/Banjo, Whistles/Flute and Accordion. The band creates a night of entertainment with a strong Irish flavour. As well as songs expect Jigs, Reels, Polkas and Waltzes. If a period of ceilidh dancing with a caller is something that you would consider we can provide that? Some of the songs you may hear are Black Velvet Band, Carrickfergus, Dirty Old Town, Fields of Athenry, Galway Girl, I’ll Tell me Ma, Irish Rover, Whiskey in the Jar and Wild Mountain Thyme. Shenanigan has a good quality PA which could also be used for a period of recorded music. The band arrives an hour before playing to set up and usually plays two hour long sets with a break between, although we can be flexible over timings.

Scottish Ceilidh - 2 x 1 Hour Sets

Shenanigan is a Celtic entertainment Band based in the South of England. When performing for weddings and parties we can provide a range of music including: Piping, Ceilidh with Caller and even Pops. Our Scottish Dance repertoire includes: The Dashing White Sergeant, Virginia Reel, Strip the Willow, Gay Gordons, St. Bernard’s Waltz and such like. The line-up for this is usually: Fiddle, whistles, guitar and accordion. This creates a night of entertainment with a strong Celtic feel including Jigs, Reels, Polkas and Waltzes. Ceilidh is great for weddings and parties. We provide a Caller to walk you through the steps. Shenanigan has a good quality PA which could also be used for a period of recorded music. The band arrives an hour before they play and normally play two hour long sets with a break between. Our accordion player is also a Highland Piper. Ceilidh Band 4 Piece - 2 x 1 Hour Sets

Shenanigan a Celtic Entertainment Band based in the South of England. For weddings and parties, we specialise in providing Ceilidh with Caller and can also bring a vocalist if required. The line-up is: Fiddle/banjo, flute, guitar and accordion. Shenanigan creates a night of entertainment with a strong Celtic connection including: Foot Stomping Jigs, Reels, Polkas and more sedate Waltzes. Ceilidh is great for weddings and parties; it's inclusive for all ages and suitable for beginners as we provide a Caller to walk you through the steps. This is an ideal celebration entertainment for all guests to get to know each other in a light-hearted way. If required Shenanigan has a good quality PA which can also be used for a period of recorded music. Our modern, top of the range PA system means that functions get a high-quality disco sound. We can provide a proven range of recorded music, although many people like to provide their own playlist on an iPod/phone/laptop, using Spotify/iTunes or similar to run through the PA. The band arrives an hour before playing to set up and usually perform two ceilidh sets of an hour with a break between. All we need is a three-pin socket and we are ready to play! If the PA is used for disco that would normally be after two hours of ceilidh. We have public liability insurance and our gear is fully PAT tested. What is your competitive advantage (special features)?
Shenanigan feature musicians from Ireland, Scotland and England making a spicy Celtic mix. We can provide both Irish and Scottish entertainment with authenticity.
What kind of events do you usually serve?
We entertain at Weddings, Parties and Functions, both indoor and out door.
How can event planners pay for your services?
We are interested in either direct bookings or from event planners
How long do you play for?
We are flexible regarding sets. The average would be two hour long sets with a break between. Starting with two hours of ceilidh followed by our own disco is very popular. All events are different and we are open too discussion regarding timings
Do you have your own PA and lighting?
Shenanigan have a top of the range PA system that can also be used for DJing When providing the DJ part of an evening we have a high quality sound system with an input that can run from any headphone socket, tablet, phone, iPad etc. Generally it’s much better if customers provide their own playlist which enables them to have total control over the music that is played at functions and weddings

How much space do you require?
Every event is different and we have happily played large stages to small rooms. the best parties can be the squashed ones!

How many breaks do you take? How long are they?
Normally we play two sets of 60 minutes with one break of 20 minutes. This is flexible and sometimes three sets are required, or a longer break while a couple cuts a cake. Every event is individual and we will do our best to cater for this.
