I am originally from the West Country growing up near Taunton in Somerset before moving in 2004 to the North West of England to the beautiful county of Lancashire where I have now settled. The inspiration for the name of the business is through this upbringing in the heart of Somerset. I grew up surrounded by traditional cider farms with endless rows of apple orchards covering the scenic landscape and I have many vivid memories of tasty hog roast feasts washed down with jugs of local Scrumpy Cider. It is with this in mind that I wanted to offer the same experience to others, hence the creation of 'Scrumpy Pig'.
As we are based in Lancashire, all our pigs are organically fed and free-range Tamworth rare breeds that are locally sourced from our exclusive supplier 'Old Hall Rare Breeds' near Garstang in Lancashire. The provenance of pig can literally be traced back from field-to-plate. The taste of slowly-roasted Tamworth pig, basted in Scrumpy Cider, accompanied by crunchy crackling, our special Scrumpy apple sauce and served on freshly-baked bread, is a taste experience not-to-be-missed!
