First contact with Alex was great. Got exactly the vibe we were hoping to achieve. Put me at ease and I knew I’d made the right call. Leading up to the event I messaged Alex on his WhatsApp but had no response. Starting to get worried I called his personal mobile (number was on his email), he answered a little abruptly asking ‘how did you get my number’! After realising he had it on his email we spoke about the party and he put my mind back at ease. We agreed his arrival would be 5:00pm, with guests due at 6:45. At 5 he did not show. He text me at 5:25 saying he was running late but would be there at 6. I was getting really nervous at this point!!! After trying to call him several times after 6 he finally called at 6:37 saying he was 10 minutes away…..The guests were due at 6:45 and some had already arrived!!!
He finally arrived about 7:15 after most of the gusts had arrived. Luckily the venue had a speaker we could play some back ground music on.
When he did arrive, he was clearly very stressed, and not very conversational. I felt like I as putting him out!! He didn’t even arrive with a table for his equipment so we had to rig one up for him out of a couple of barrels and a plank of wood as the venue didn’t have anything spare!!!
A very stressful start to my wife’s 50th!!!!

Hey Rob,
You’re right - the way the evening started wasn't a great experience and I'm sorry for the stress it caused. There was a problem with a piece of kit in storage (the DJ box / table) that I wasn't able to resolve. The knock-ons from that meant music started later than it should have. I hate that it put you on edge for your wife’s 50th.
When we spoke as you were leaving you said how much everyone had enjoyed their evening, which I was really pleased to hear. I hope that your guests' experience remained a positive one overall and apologise unreservedly for any anxiety at the start.
Poptop asks suppliers to keep all conversation in-app, but on this occasion, I've reached out by email to talk things through and offer a gesture of goodwill.
