We booked an Abba tribute, by the Decades Duo, for our wedding pn 21 August 2025.. We had an amazing day but the girls added an extra level of magic to it. They were brilliant singers/performers who put on a fabulous show. We hardly left the dance floor and did our mingling there as our family and friends joined us. Everyone said how great the girls were and if anyone is looking for a fun event that will leave all your guests
talking about it, then we would highly recommend the Decades Duo

WOW, Mariachi Rey are the best value for money you will ever spend, they made the party and got everyone involved, I have never seen so many people with the biggest of smiles throughout the performances. Everyone that came along have not stopped talking about Mariachi Rey and sharing photos. Not that we needed photos as the experience is permanently etched in our memories.

Kevin Thapa,
I cannot praise you enough, 5 star and more.
Thank you so much for playing such wonderful music on your saxaphone at my BBQ, you really made the day, all my guests thought you were terrific, you played everything I asked and more, and made it go with a swing.
You will be first on my list next time I need a musician.
All the best.

Jez and Alan were great, very responsive and catered to our needs and requests, I'd highly recommend them for any future weddings or events.
We delivered next level parties for exceptional companies
We also did more than 40,000 birthday parties. Probably, including your neighbour’s recent big bash.
Hire an Ensemble in London: the elegant shortcut to an unforgettable event
Looking for an ensemble in London that sounds sumptuous, looks the part and just… works? You’re in the right place. London is overflowing with world-class musicians who know how to elevate a moment without stealing the spotlight. Whether you’re planning a luxury wedding, a corporate award dinner, a private gallery viewing, a sleek brand launch or a milestone birthday, the right ensemble turns a good event into a great one. We’ll steer you through the options, the prices and the practicalities, then show you how to book in minutes.
Poptop isn’t just another marketplace. It’s the most reliable and straightforward way to organise a brilliant celebration, with peace of mind baked in and support from first idea to final bow.
What we mean by “ensemble”
Ensembles are small, polished groups with a clear musical identity and a tight lineup. They’re compact, flexible and refreshingly low-maintenance compared to a large party band. The most popular choices in London are:
String Quartet or String Trio
Jazz Trio or Jazz Quartet
Brass Ensemble or Brass Quintet
Gospel Ensemble or Gospel Choir
You can keep it purely acoustic for intimacy or add amplification for bigger rooms. Repertoire can swing from classical to chart hits to jazz standards, which is why ensembles suit so many London venues and formats.
Where ensembles shine in London venues and spaces
London’s venues are wonderfully varied. Here’s how ensembles fit the spaces you’re likely considering.
5-star hotels
Grand ballrooms and marble foyers love strings and brass. A string quartet makes a sophisticated backdrop for champagne receptions, then returns later for dinner sets with modern covers. Brass ensembles bring bold energy to arrivals and award walk-ups. Hotels usually offer easy load-in and power, which simplifies logistics.
Livery halls
These historic halls are all about ceremony. Strings pair perfectly with wood-panelled rooms and candlelight. For gala dinners and black-tie fundraisers, a classical-to-pop crossover program adds sparkle without overpowering conversation. Many halls have acoustic quirks; we’ll guide sound levels so the music feels rich, not overbearing.
Museums
Museums demand elegance and restraint. A jazz trio is ideal for private views and curator-led tours, where clarity and movement matter. Strings also work beautifully in galleries, especially for preview evenings and donor receptions. Most museums have strict rules on volume and equipment. Our ensembles are used to this and will meet requirements without fuss.

For rooftop cocktails with London’s skyline as the backdrop, think breezy, melodic and mobile. A jazz trio can set up quickly and adapt to changing weather. Brass is brilliant for guest arrival and golden-hour photos. We’ll plan windproof music stands, discreet amplification and a wet-weather pivot so you can relax.
Private members’ clubs
Members’ clubs favour understated quality. A string trio or jazz trio gives you luxury without glare, from intimate salons to modern lounges. If you want a reveal moment for speeches or a product drop, a short brass fanfare is a classy way to focus the room.
Matching ensembles to your event type
You know your guest list and your goals. Here’s a quick guide to the best fit for each occasion.
Luxury weddings
Ceremony: String Quartet for processional, signing and recessional, or Gospel Ensemble for soulful ceremony moments.
Drinks reception: Jazz Trio reworking classics and cool pop tunes as guests mingle.
Wedding breakfast: String Trio with crossover arrangements to maintain pace without drowning conversation.
Evening welcome: Brass Ensemble for a 10-minute entrance burst that cues speeches and cake.
Corporate award dinners
Arrivals: Brass Quintet to lift energy as delegates filter in.
Walk-ons: Short brass stings for winners and presenters.
Dining: Jazz Trio with tasteful standards and light modern instrumentals between courses.
After-dinner networking: Strings with contemporary covers for a smart, relaxed tone.
Private gallery viewings
Flow between rooms: Jazz Trio that can reposition quietly and keep the atmosphere cohesive.
Spotlight moments: A single feature piece by strings when a highlight artwork is unveiled.
VIP lounge: Solo piano or a slimmed-down string duo as an appendix to the main trio set.
Brand and product launches
Build anticipation: Brass Ensemble to bookend speeches and punctuate countdowns.
Create identity: Strings performing your brand anthem or an iconic track aligned to your campaign.
Content capture: Ensembles that look as good as they sound for video and social assets.
Milestone birthdays
Daytime garden party: String Trio on familiar favourites that grandparents and teens both know.
Cocktail hour: Jazz Trio with upbeat swing to get toes tapping.
Surprise reveal: Brass fanfare as the cake arrives or the birthday speech begins.
Themes that never miss
Dial in the vibe with one of these tried-and-tested directions.
Classical-to-pop crossover strings
Think Vivaldi next to Clean Bandit, Bridgerton with bite. Great for weddings, award dinners and club spaces where you want elegance with a wink. Arrangements stay recognisable, so even pop-averse guests smile and nod along.
Jazz trio for cocktails
Piano, bass and drums, or guitar in place of piano. This is the London default for receptions and networking. It feels premium without being precious, and the repertoire can flex from Great American Songbook to tasteful pop instrumentals.
Brass for arrivals
Five players, big sound, instant wow. Perfect for guest entry, short stings and outdoor welcomes. Particularly strong at launches and black-tie corporate events where you want pace and confidence.
Gospel ensemble for ceremonies
Nothing beats the warmth and uplift of harmony vocals. For civil ceremonies, church services and surprise serenades, a compact gospel lineup adds heart, soul and goosebump moments.
What it costs in London
Most ensembles for London events sit in the £550 to £1,250 range. The exact figure depends on lineup size, performance length, date and logistics. Typical patterns:
String Trio for 2 x 45 minutes: often from £550 to £850
String Quartet for ceremony plus drinks: usually £750 to £1,100
Jazz Trio for 2 x 60 minutes: often £650 to £1,000
Brass Quintet for 60 minutes split across arrivals and stings: usually £800 to £1,250
Gospel Ensemble for ceremony and one short set: commonly £800 to £1,200
Quotes are all-inclusive on Poptop, so you can see travel, setup and any equipment needs up front. Extras like a special arrangement, additional sets or late-finish fees are clearly itemised before you book.
Sound, space and logistics
Ensembles are easier than you might think, but a few details keep everything smooth.
Space: A trio needs roughly 2 x 3 metres. A quartet or quintet is happier with 3 x 4 metres. We’ll map the best footprint for your venue.
Power: Acoustic strings may not need power. Jazz, brass and gospel usually bring a compact PA. Standard mains sockets are fine.
Volume: Museums and clubs often set limits. Our musicians are practised at keeping levels conversation-friendly.
Weather: For terraces and gardens, shade and a shower plan protect instruments and guests. We’ll help set a clear indoor backup.
Setup time: Most ensembles need 30 to 45 minutes on site, more if you’re using multiple performance spots.
Turnarounds: Short breaks between sets keep energy consistent. We’ll align breaks with speeches or course changes.

Getting the performance you imagined
Little details make a big difference. Here are our favourite planning tips.
Share your running order early. Ceremony cues, speech times and award slots help the ensemble plot perfect entries and exits.
Pick three anchor tracks. Give the ensemble a short list of must-plays that reflect your taste. They’ll build the rest around it.
Give context. If your brand launch has a theme colour or a campaign song, say so. Musicians can mirror that tone musically and visually.
Consider a reveal moment. A brass fanfare to announce the winner, a surprise gospel entrance during vows or a signature string intro as the product turns on its plinth are small touches that feel cinematic.
Balance styles. For mixed-age guest lists, pair classical walk-ins with modern covers later. Everyone gets their moment.
Think about photos. Ensembles look fantastic on camera. A small riser, soft lighting and tidy cable runs turn live music into a picture-perfect feature.
