I cannot recommend Dhanesh enough! From the moment I wrote to him on Pop to coordinating for the event he has been amazing! The night itself was so much fun and everyone could not stop complimenting the music! He could read the room and played music to EVERYONE’s liking! He took requests and also played songs he knew people would appreciate like and dance to! If you are looking for a DJ in London don’t look further!

Ryan played his pipes at my Aunt's funeral as we arrived to the church and he piped my Aunt out of the church and as she was placed within the hearse.
It was a fulfillment of one of her last wishes and he provided an excellent service in every way. He continued to play as we dispersed from the Church grounds too.
My Aunt's Care Home Manager commented that he heard the Piper when he was leaving the Care Home to make his way down to the Church, which he said, "was fitting for a lady who kept them all on their toes during her 14yrs as a resident.
A big thank you to poptop and Ryan Anderson!

Ali was fantastic and completely beyond our expectations for our wedding reception.
From when we first booked him right through to the end his communication was 10/10 which really does take a weight off your shoulders.
As soon as our guests arrived they were already blown away with his sound and brilliant voice.
The venue liked him so much they asked for his details so did other guests.
I can not stress enough how this made our day and I'm sure he will light up any function or venue.

We booked Caprice String Quartet for a conference meal that we were holding at the NEC in Birmingham and they were able to provide the perfect backdrop for the occasion. Would highly recommend for any similar event, wedding etc!
We delivered next level parties for exceptional companies
We also did more than 40,000 birthday parties. Probably, including your neighbour’s recent big bash.
Ensembles in Bristol, the easy route to an unforgettable celebration
If you are searching for an ensemble in Bristol that sounds fantastic, looks the part and keeps planning simple, you are exactly where you need to be. Our city blends harbourside grit with Georgian charm and Somerset calm, which makes it perfect for live music. Choose the right lineup and your outdoor wedding feels cinematic, your creative agency party gets that smart edge, your harbourside reception glows at golden hour, your cider festival hums along, and your summer fête becomes the one everyone talks about. In this guide we will show you what to book, where it works best, what it costs, and how to secure the perfect ensemble in minutes.
Poptop is not just a party planning marketplace. It is the most reliable and straightforward way to organise an unforgettable event, with peace of mind and support from your first idea through to the last note.
What we mean by an ensemble
An ensemble is a compact, professional group with a clear sound and a modest footprint. They set quickly, adapt to different moments in the same day, and deliver style without swallowing the floor plan. In Bristol, the most requested lineups are:
Festival-folk ensemble for reels, singalongs and sunlit ceremonies
Gypsy jazz quartet for nimble swing and vintage sparkle
Street brass band for parades, arrivals and punchy reveals
String and piano duo for elegant backdrops and modern covers
String trio or string quartet if you want extra depth in a seated setting
Acoustic roaming ensemble that moves through the crowd and takes requests
Most of these can perform acoustic in smaller rooms or bring a compact PA for clarity in busier spaces. Repertoires travel easily between folk favourites, film themes, jazz standards and current chart tunes, so mixed age guest lists never feel left out.
Bristol spaces and how to make them sing
Bristol venues have personality. One week you are beside the harbour, the next you are in a townhouse with sweeping stairs, then you are out among hay bales and hedgerows. Matching the lineup to the room is how you get great sound and great photos without stress.
Harbourside venues
Water, brick and big skies are your backdrop. Sound can drift in the breeze, so we keep placement and volume tidy. Festival-folk works beautifully for ceremony entries and drinks on the quay, while a street brass band gives you noisy fun for guest arrival or a first dance reveal. If your plan moves from terrace to indoor dining, a string and piano duo provides a warm, cinematic tone that settles the room. We map cable runs and set discrete weather pivots so the music continues if the breeze picks up.

Curated suppliers
All Poptop’s suppliers are rigorously vetted and approved by our team of party experts, ensuring you book the very best.
Georgian rooms reward elegance and restraint. A string and piano duo is perfect for vows, canapés and refined dining, with crossover arrangements that feel modern rather than formal. If you want a lift later, a gypsy jazz quartet brings pace without tipping into a full party band. Ceiling heights and wooden floors can amplify sound, so we manage levels to keep conversation easy during speeches.
Somerset barns
You get big skies and a warm welcome, along with long walks from car park to aisle. Festival-folk ensembles are right at home on lawns and under rafters, and they transition smoothly from gentle ceremony pieces to upbeat procession. For the evening, a roaming acoustic set moves between tables and firepits, taking requests and creating those micro performances your guests will share. We always agree a simple wet-weather plan for barns, marquees and tipis so nothing wobbles if the clouds get playful.
Marquees and tipis
Marquees behave like bright, lively rooms. A string and piano duo gives you a clean anchor point for dining, while a street brass band makes outdoor arrivals feel like a festival gate. If you want movement without a stage build, the acoustic roaming ensemble is the best tool we have. They weave through tables, manage volume naturally, and keep the vibe present across a wide footprint.
Match the lineup to your Bristol moment
You know your crowd and your goals. Use this as a quick route to the right sound.
Outdoor and eco weddings
Ceremony: String and piano duo playing romantic themes and one personal piece for the aisle
Drinks on the lawn: Festival-folk ensemble on gentle reels and acoustic pop
Wedding breakfast: Duo returns at a softer level or a string trio takes over between courses
Transition: Roaming acoustic ensemble guides guests from meadow to marquee with a cheeky chorus
Reveal: Short street brass burst to gather everyone for the first dance or cake
We can run battery-powered amplification where generators are unwelcome, and we plan shade, flooring protection and cable safety as part of the setup.
Creative agency parties
Doors open: Gypsy jazz quartet with crisp rhythms that feel clever, not clinical
Short talks: A repeatable cue to reset attention and keep the schedule tidy
After-talk flow: Roaming acoustic set that mingles with teams and clients, taking requests without stealing focus
Late uplift: Brass stings for a product reveal or award moment
These events live or die on momentum, so we keep sets compact and land cues to the minute.
Harbourside events
Arrival: Street brass band on the terrace drawing people in and pointing cameras the right way
Movement: A mini-parade from quay to dining room, light and cheerful
Seated set: String and piano duo on cinematic covers that settle the room
Finale: Two upbeat brass numbers as the sun sets over the water
We use windproof stands, discreet weights, and a simple indoor pivot if the weather calls the shots.
Cider festivals
Gates open: Festival-folk ensemble near the entrance so guests arrive smiling
Midday roams: Acoustic roaming ensemble threading between makers and picnic blankets
Afternoon stage: Gypsy jazz quartet with a compact PA for the foot-tapping crowd
Close: All-in finale on a folk standard that everyone can hum
Roaming performers are the quiet heroes of a festival. They solve gaps, pull attention and create shareable moments without a heavy tech footprint.
Summer fêtes
Green arrivals: String and piano duo under a canopy for a polished start
Games and stalls: Roaming acoustic ensemble taking jaunty requests near the action
Prize giving: Short brass motif to focus the field for winners
Tea time: Festival-folk easing people back to the picnic rugs as the afternoon rolls on
We plan power safely around generators and make sure volume stays neighbour-friendly.
Theme ideas with a Bristol flavour
A light theme brings cohesion and helps the music feel tailored to the city and your story.
Festival-folk
Fiddle, guitar, maybe whistle or cajón, playing a blend of trad and modern folk. It feels handmade and happy, which is exactly right for barns, tipis and harbourside sunsets. Start with gentle pieces for photos, then lift into toe-tapping territory when people relax.
Gypsy jazz
Acoustic guitars, upright bass and clarinet or violin, delivering fast swing with a romantic edge. This reads as vintage chic rather than costume drama. Great for agency parties, townhouse salons and hotel terraces. The rhythm is infectious, the footprint small.
Street brass band
Trumpets, trombone, sax and drum, quick to set, big on personality. Perfect for arrivals, short parades, room resets and reveal moments. If you want a single element that gathers a crowd in ten seconds, it is brass.
String and piano duo
Harmony with a heartbeat. Elegant for vows and dining, flexible for crossovers, camera-ready in any room. If you want to keep it acoustic, swap piano for guitar and you still get that gorgeous blend.
What an ensemble costs in Bristol
Most bookings in and around the city sit between £400 and £900. Your exact figure depends on lineup size, set length, date and logistics. Patterns we see most weeks:
String and piano duo for ceremony only sits near the lower end
String trio for ceremony plus drinks lands in the middle
String quartet covering ceremony and reception nudges the upper middle
Gypsy jazz quartet for two one-hour sets is usually mid to upper, thanks to the extra player
Street brass band for arrivals and a short parade tends toward the top of the range
Festival-folk and roaming acoustic ensembles vary with lineup size, commonly mid range

Practical planning details that pay off
Small choices make a big difference on the day. These are the tips we share with Bristol clients week in, week out.
Share a simple running order early. Entrances, vows, speeches and reveals all land better when musicians can lock in cues.
Pick three anchor tracks. Give your ensemble a short must-play list that shows your taste. They will build a coherent set around it.
Plan for movement. If your event spans terrace, lawn and tent, include one mobile element such as a roaming acoustic set or a short brass escort between spaces.
Match volume to the moment. Reception music should sit at conversation level, then rise for reveals. We manage this so you do not have to.
Think eco. For outdoor and eco weddings we can run compact, battery-powered setups and keep power draws light.
Weather proof the plan. Shade for instruments, matting for cables, a five-minute indoor pivot if showers appear. Calm plans make calm days.
Respect neighbours and curfews. We keep decibel levels within limits and place players to project where you want the sound to go.
Stage the photos. A small riser, natural light and tidy stands help images sing. Tell us your must-capture moments and we will position players accordingly.
