Gareth was booked for our Jubilee street party celebration. He was easy to communicate with prior to the event. He arrived in good time, set up was easy. We had 2 x 50min sessions and he was great. He allowed people up on the stage with him to sing. He really got the party going in a chilled Saturday afternoon way. Everyone enjoyed it he was easy going and pleasant to deal with. Thanks Gareth! See you next time!

Jack & Tee played a fantastic set at our wedding reception. Although some COVID restrictions were still in place and dancing restricted they did a great job and created a great atmosphere. Both Jack and Tina’s vocals are amazing, all the guests commented how good they were. Very accommodating and a nice couple to work with. Cannot recommend them highly enough. Thanks for making our evening so special.

We only booked 2 of the Quartet but they were superb! Arrived promptly and were very professional. We were very pleased with the music played.

We delivered next level parties for exceptional companies

We also did more than 40,000 birthday parties. Probably, including your neighbour’s recent big bash.

Ensembles in Birmingham made simple

Hunting for an ensemble in Birmingham that sounds refined, fits your space, and doesn’t turn planning into homework? You’re in safe hands. The city’s mix of canals, civic grandeur and green fringes makes it a brilliant place for live music, and a well chosen ensemble adds polish without fuss. From conference centres and Victorian town halls to canalside restaurants and country houses, the right lineup lifts the room, guides the mood and leaves you with the kind of memories people still talk about next year.

Poptop is not just a party planning marketplace. It’s the most reliable and straightforward way to organise an unforgettable event, with peace of mind and support from first idea to final note.

What we mean by an ensemble

An ensemble is a compact, professional group with a clear musical identity and a small footprint. They are quick to set, easy to position, and flexible enough to play across multiple moments in a single day. In Birmingham, the most popular choices include:

  • Bollywood fusion strings for ceremonies and receptions
  • Classic jazz quartet for receptions, dinners and networking
  • Brass quintet for arrivals, fanfares and award stings
  • Gospel choir for ceremonies and high emotion moments
  • String trio or quartet for elegant backdrops and modern covers
  • Roaming acoustic ensemble for singalongs and table to table requests

Each option can perform acoustic or with a neat PA, and many offer crossover repertoires that move from classical to pop to film and TV themes. That adaptability is why ensembles suit diverse guest lists and events with several stages.

How ensembles fit Birmingham’s spaces

Birmingham venues have character. You might be tying the knot in a country house, hosting a conference near the ring road, or celebrating by the canal. Here’s how we think about matching lineups to the rooms you’re likely considering.

Conference centres

Large foyers, high ceilings and steady footfall call for clarity and control. A classic jazz quartet works beautifully at registration and coffee breaks, offering pace without overwhelming conversation. For plenaries and award moments, a brass quintet can deliver short stings that sharpen attention and keep timings tight. We coordinate directly with your AV team so cues land cleanly.

Canalside restaurants

These are perfect for intimate weddings, Diwali dinners and graduation gatherings. Space can be narrow, ceilings low and sound lively. A string trio gives you elegance at a gentle volume, while a roaming acoustic ensemble brings energy after dessert without a full stage build. If you want a photogenic entrance, a short burst from a brass lineup on the terrace delivers instant buzz.

Victorian town halls

Civic halls love ceremony, polish and a touch of tradition. String quartets sound glorious in panelled chambers, and a gospel choir lifts civil ceremonies in a way speakers never can. For awards nights, a brass quintet near the dais provides walk-up fanfares that make winners feel seen while keeping the schedule moving. We’ll map positions to respect heritage features and keep cables tidy.

Country houses

Outdoor vows, drinks on the lawn and dinner inside need music that travels well. Bollywood fusion strings are brilliant for ceremonies and photos, then a classic jazz quartet takes over for cocktails and the first part of dinner. If your floor plan spans several rooms, a roaming acoustic outfit can shepherd guests between spaces with a smile.

Match the music to your occasion

No two events are the same, and Birmingham’s diary proves it. Use this guide to map ensembles to your moment.

Multicultural weddings

Start with Bollywood fusion strings for the ceremony, blending traditional melodies with contemporary arrangements so everyone recognises something they love. For the reception, a classic jazz quartet maintains a premium feel while guests mingle, then a roaming acoustic ensemble moves through the crowd for requests later on. If you want true goosebump moments, a compact gospel choir can perform one or two feature songs during the vows or before the couple’s entrance.

Conferences

Registration needs pace, not volume. A jazz quartet sets the tone in the morning, then returns after lunch to wake the room gently. For the plenary hall, brief brass stings between sessions refocus attention and stop timings from drifting. Networking drinks can keep the quartet in place or switch to a string trio for a calmer palette.

Awards nights

This is where brass shines. A quintet provides a bright entrance as guests take their seats, then punctuates each award with a crisp motif. Between courses, a string trio softens the room and keeps conversation flowing. As the night winds down, a roaming acoustic ensemble can tour the tables for singalong favourites that end the evening on a high.

Diwali and Eid parties

Colour, light and togetherness are the brief. Fusion strings weave film themes and pop into an elegant soundtrack for arrivals and dinner. Mid-evening, a roaming acoustic ensemble raises the energy and encourages photos without needing a full dance floor. If you’re planning a special moment for a family member, a short gospel feature or brass fanfare adds theatre without dominating the night.

Civic ceremonies

Keep it dignified and warm. Strings handle processions, signatures and recessional cues with precision. A gospel choir offers harmonic lift where speeches need a breath. For formal presentations, brass signals transitions, welcomes dignitaries, and helps the audience know exactly when to sit and when to applaud.

Theme ideas with a Birmingham flavour

A light theme helps your soundtrack feel bespoke to the city and your crowd.

Bollywood fusion strings

Imagine lush string textures carrying iconic film melodies before sliding into contemporary pop. It’s elegant, instantly recognisable and perfect for multicultural weddings, Diwali dinners and civic events that want to honour the city’s diversity. We can build a set that moves from ceremony cues to upbeat photo music without a jolt.

Classic jazz quartet

Piano or guitar with bass, drums and a horn offers that timeless hotel-lobby polish. It’s the go-to for conferences, awards seating and private dining. The sound reads premium, yet the band can tuck into a corner and keep chat audible. Add a few tasteful pop instrumentals and the set feels modern rather than museum-piece.

Brass quintet fanfares

Nothing announces a moment like brass. Place them at the entrance for arrivals or at stage left for award walk-ups and civic formalities. They can deliver short, repeatable stings that stitch your schedule together and keep the evening moving. For photos, the uniforms and instruments bring instant theatre.

Gospel choir

A handful of powerful voices is all it takes to lift a room. For ceremonies, two to six singers provide warmth that reaches the back row. For gala closers or special presentations, a single song turns into the talking point everyone remembers. We’ll agree start cues and room positions so the reveal lands.

What ensembles cost in Birmingham

Typical bookings in the city fall between £420 and £900. The final figure depends on date, lineup size, performance length and logistics. Patterns we see often:

  • String duo for a ceremony only sits towards the lower end
  • String trio for ceremony and drinks usually lands mid-range
  • String quartet covering ceremony and reception approaches the upper mid
  • Classic jazz quartet for two one-hour sets sits mid to upper, depending on gear
  • Brass quintet for arrivals plus award stings tends toward the upper end
  • Gospel choir pricing varies with the number of singers, usually mid to upper within the range
  • Roaming acoustic ensemble is efficient on setup and commonly sits mid-range

On Poptop you see all-inclusive pricing up front. Travel, setup, extra sets and any bespoke arrangements are itemised before you book, so there are no surprises and no waiting around for quotes.

Practical tips that make a big difference

Small details help the music land exactly as you imagined.

  • Share the running order early. Entrances, vows, speeches and awards flow better when the ensemble can plot cues.
  • Choose three anchor tracks. Give the musicians a short must-play list. They’ll build a set that complements it.
  • Think about movement. If your plan uses multiple rooms or indoor-outdoor spaces, include one mobile element such as a roaming acoustic set or a short brass escort between locations.
  • Match volume to the moment. Reception music should sit at conversation level, then rise for reveals or walk-ups. We’ll manage this without you having to ask.
  • Allow quick resets. Five minutes between sets keeps energy consistent and gives your photographer time for group shots.
  • Consider cultural timings. For Diwali or Eid events, we can schedule key songs and pauses to respect prayer or family moments.
  • Prepare a light weather plan. For lawns and terraces, shade and a simple indoor pivot protect instruments and keep the day calm.
  • Plan the photos. A small riser, gentle lighting and tidy stands help images look as good as the music sounds.
