Lara Rebekah Harvey is an international and critically-acclaimed classical and opera singer. From Handel and Schubert, to Elton John and Ed Sheeran, Lara’s classical voice transforms any event bringing a premium and elegant sound. Her professionalism and attention to detail ensures world-class music of the highest level.
Lara’s love for performing began aged 10 when she starred as the young Jane Austen for BBC1 and as Darwin’s Daughter in the series of the same name for Channel Four.
Lara studied on a scholarship for an undergraduate and postgraduate degree in classical and opera singing at the Royal Northern College of Music. While studying, Lara became a member of Genesis Sixteen, the elite training choir for internationally-acclaimed choral group The Sixteen conducted by Harry Christophers. She was also in the National Youth Choir of Great Britain for five years.
Lara is currently a member of Gareth Malone’s choir Voices. The choir is made up of young professionals aged 18-27. Past appearances include The Classic Brit Awards, The Royal Variety Show, This Morning, The One Show and Children in Need Rocks. They have completed two UK tours with Lara appearing as soloist on both, and recorded two chart-topping albums.
In 2016, Lara was invited to appear as soloist for three performances at the Royal Albert Hall with the Royal Marines Massed Bands. She was also a finalist in both the Frederic Cox Award and The Joyce and Michael Kennedy Award for the Singing of Strauss. Other performance highlights for Lara include singing at the Royal Festival Hall, The Bridgewater Hall, St Paul’s Cathedral, Westminster Abbey and recording two albums conducted by composer John Rutter. Lara has sung roles with many opera companies, most notably Opera Holland Park, Wexford Festival Opera, The Grange Festival, Opera Loki and Into Opera. She has also featured in Country Life magazine’s ‘Girls in Pearls’.
