Elly Hopkins & Stuart Oliver met jamming on the vibrant Bristol jazz scene. Having spent time playing swing music in New Orleans and Paris respectively, they share a love of early jazz standards from the 30s, 40s and 50s. Taking inspiration from artists like Ella Fitzgerald and Django Reinhardt, a set from Hopkins & Oliver is full of toe-tapping rhythm, mischief and heart, with all the radiance and intimacy of a fireside session.
They play regularly in venues in Bristol (St Georges, Bristol Beacon) and around the South West, and often in London (Royal Albert Hall) and further afield; at festivals, private parties, weddings and corporate events.

Hopkins and Oliver were perfect for our wedding garden party. They are wonderful musicians who worked with us to create the vibes we wanted for the afternoon and even did a rendition of a song my husband and I wanted to hear in a particular style, for sentimental reasons.

Before the event H&O relayed their technical requirements with the Sound Engineer without chasing. They arrived on time for the sound check,
The actual set was very good and H&O kicked off the Thornbury Carnival really well, they were well received by the crowed and complimented the act that followed, interacting with the crowd well, and keeping to time.
There was a minor technical issue that the gain needed for the snare drum was very quiet but our sound engineer overcame this. It did mean that we had to keep the overall volume lower than we would have liked.
Hopkins and Oliver were absolutely marvellous! Professional, competent, calm and organised beforehand, and on the night they were fabulous. My guests were thrilled, their music was gorgeous, I couldn't have been more pleased! Thank you!

Can’t speak more highly of Hopkins and Oliver. The music was just what we were after and as requested they kept the volume at a perfect level so it became a natural part of the event without being over bearing
