Edward and Nick were very prompt, apologising for the few minutes delay due to a road accident; they had already advised me about the delay whilst en route. They laid the table out very attractively with Christmas decor. the canapes were excellent and beautifully presented. The whole 5 course meal was very nice indeed and the service was excellent. The attention Nick paid to the two little ones was really appreciated by all of us. Ed's cuisine was lovely.
We all had a wonderful family christmas lunch.

Ed made us a Spanish meal for my mum's 70th birthday celebration. Communication beforehand was great, and we all really loved the experience - Ed was very friendly and the food was absolutely delicious. The kitchen was also left spotless. Would absolutely book him again.

I would highly recommend Edward, he was great to deal with from start to finish, very good communication even before we had finalised the booking to ensure the experience would be excellent.

The food was excellent, the steak just melted in your mouth. We had an open plan kitchen diner, so Edward was always in the same area as the party, he was engaging when required and respectful at other times. At the end of the meal Edward left the kitchen clean and tidy.

Ed was great. I had lots of communication before the event. On the day, the food was amazing, Ed was really friendly and my kitchen was left looking brand new!

We had a fantastic Spanish sharing meal for a joint birthday celebration. Ed spent time communicating and finding out exactly what we were after prior to the event. The food was delicious and we all had a great evening.

Booking process:

The booking process was very efficient and Ed was responsive, organised and open to any changes on the menu.

Dinner evening:

From the moment Ed arrived (early)! everything went perfectly. Ed had some great stories (especially how he got into cooking in the first place) and was very accommodative (as we had baby’s we needed to get to sleep).

Then came the food and quite simply, it was spectacular. Extremely tasty, well presented and well explained through each course.

Ed also suggested a wine pairing which was a lovely touch and added depth / flavour to each dish.

Overall I couldn’t recommend more. So much so, the Air BnB host is now adding him to the suggested itinerary for the place we were staying.

The Menu and Food:

Simply fantastic. We had the Spanish tapas menu to celebrate my wife’s 30th and had a number of guests who required menu alterations. The starters were delicious and enjoyed by all. The Paella went down a storm and the desert was a smash.

The Service:

Ed’s personable and friendly nature meant he provided a really awesome service and had some good stories to tell which we all enjoyed.

I organised a chef at home for my dad’s birthday present. Him and my stepmother said it was a beautiful meal and Ed the chef was lovely. They had a super evening.

We booked Ed to celebrate a special birthday in the Cotswolds and I’m very glad we did! The food was amazing and Ed explained where he’d sourced the ingredients, everything tasted top quality, especially the steaks and the chocolate torte!

I hired Ed for my sister’s hen, and he was great! We were all vegan and one of us had a nut allergy, and he adapted his menu really well. We also had a last minute dish change for one of our guests, which he was a really good sport about. The food was incredible and he is a really lovely guy. We’d definitely hire him again in a heartbeat :)

This was a surprise 70th birthday dinner party for my wife. Edward greatly helped in the preparation of the menus giving a really good choice. He supplied 12 champagne flutes,all cutlery,plates and as advertised, cooked in his own pots and pans. The quality of the food over the three courses was first class and we were lucky enough to have Nick,Edwards waiter, which enhanced the event. It was difficult to find fault on this fabulous evening. Ed was a delight to have at our event. He balanced being part of the dinner party and knowing when to step away.
The scallops and beef Wellington were incredible. Best Beef Wellington we have had. Everything was very easy and relaxed and ran perfectly to time.
A personal thing but the more mature members of our party did feel that dessert should have been served with small plates for each diner.

Ed stepped in at the very last minute after I was let down. Ed, given he had only 48hrs notice came up with a menu that suited me and my guests, then supplied the most beautiful meal. From start to finish Ed looked after me and my guests. And even washed up. The whole experience was five star and I will definitely be having Ed back. Again fantastic is all I can say.

This was a totally new experience of a chef coming to the house to cook for us so I didn’t know what to expect.
Edward was very helpful and accommodating each time we spoke before Christmas Day.
On the day he was very punctual, he was very friendly and chatty. He familiarised himself with our kitchen and got straight to work.
The food was served on time, it was delicious and everyone loved it.
Edward cleaned up and put the dishwasher on and left the kitchen how he found it.
Would definitely use him again and definitely recommend him.

Ed created the most wonderful feast for my dad’s 70th Birthday dinner party. He made everything so easy, from menu selection through to serving up his delicious food then leaving the kitchen spotless. Ed is not only a great chef but a super nice chap. I can’t recommend Edward highly enough! He catered for my fathers 80th birthday, 20 guests with varying tastes & dietary requirements. Edward was very prompt in his responses to my texts & emails and what’s so obliging. He (and his 2 waiting staff) were extremely friendly & professional from start to finish and I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again.

Ed created the most amazing menu that went down an absolute treat with my family. He was very accommodating and created an atmostphere that made everyone relax, even when being quizzed by some curious children! Thank you so much for a wonderful meal. We booked Ed for my 40th birthday dinner and he was 5-stars all the way. Very responsive in the build up, arrived early and was professional throughout. The food was fantastic and he catered for a vegetarian and gluten-free guest perfectly. Would highly recommend!

Ed was wonderful from the start, reaching out to make sure everything was fine, and agreeing without any issue to do the main dish as well as a pescatarian option.

The food was, I must say, better than I expected - really delicious in fact and everybody loved it; and served in very generous portions.
The fact I literally didn't have to do anything at all was absolutely fantastic - Ed, after asking permission to open my cupboards, laid the table, prepared the food, introduced and served each dish, took the plates away and put them in the dishwasher and left the kitchen clean and tidy.
Overall, a fantastic service by a very nice chef, great food and the gift of a relaxing evening spent with my family instead of in the kitchen.

We had a really great experience with 'Fed by Ed'. Restaurant quality food and service with the relaxed atmosphere of your own home. Ed was very kind, courteous and fit in around us. He catered to different dietary requirements. The food was perfect and so delicious and he even cleaned everything up leaving the kitchen looking beautiful.

Extremely fast and helpful communication from Ed throughout and the food was fantastic.

We loved our ‘Fed by Ed’ experience. The food was delicious and nicely presented. Ed was attentive and chatty but also discreet and tucked himself away when we were enjoying our courses. He was flexible and accepted a change to the menu a couple of days before. I would highly recommend this service to friends and family. Thank you!

Ed was lovely from the initial contact right through to the end. He kept in touch and asked if we needed anything. He changed the menu countless times and made sure each course was perfect for each person. After receiving some great news 3 days prior to our experience Ed changed the menu for on of the guests and it enabled them to be able to enjoy their experience also. Couldn’t recommend him more! Ed was fantastic. Friendly, helpful and his food was excellent. No request was too much for him and he adjusted the menu to suit our favourite foods, whilst making a separate dish for one guest who didn’t like fish.

We can’t praise Ed highly enough! We changed the number of guests from 4 to 6, added canapés & nothing was too much trouble. The kitchen at the cottage was not ideal & the cooker was a bit elderly but the food was not only beautifully presented but absolutely delicious! My husband said that the beef Wellington was the best he’d ever eaten! My son & daughter-in-law are already planning to book Ed again for their joint 40th birthday party & I’m sure we’ll find some excuse to bring him up to Lincolnshire.
Private dining is an absolute treat - not even any washing up afterwards & the ability to totally focus on our guests. I can thoroughly recommend Ed to anyone needing his services.

After three separate providers pulled out of my birthday weekend (one through Poptop, two privately) I rang Laurel at Poptop and begged her to help me, with only two weeks to go until my doomed dinner party which was looking like it was going to be Chef-less. Laurel immediately sprung in to action and found me Ed, who had only recently signed up to Poptop.

After we had agreed the menu and confirmed the booking, Ed was in touch regularly (to reassure me he was still there!) but also to confirm the finer details of the evening. When one of my party pulled out at the last minute, Ed was totally flexible to change the courses to accommodate in other ways so I didn't lose money.

On the night, Ed turned up promptly, brought me birthday sparkles and cooked us a delightful four course dinner (and an additional palette cleanser!). He also flexed on timings to allow for a live singer we had booked. He dressed in full chef's attire, did all of the cleaning up after the event and not only this, but he also got involved with our games and conversations and was fabulous company!

Honestly, could not be more happy with Ed, the service he provided, but also how much of an all-round gentleman and nice guy he is. Couldn't recommend him more. THANK YOU ED! Legend.

We were eight people who had the opportunity to cook beef Wellington together with Ed. It was very nice and successful. Ed is a fantastic chef and let us be part of the cooking according to our wishes. The whole event was successful and the food was very good. Ed is nice and took care of us and our kitchen in the best way. I can warmly recommend him./Tom

So our experience was mixed, but overall a bit of a let down.
The positives were the chef was punctual, polite, and was great with being flexible with service times. He left the kitchen in a spotless state. All that was great.

However, I’m afraid to say the food quality was very poor, especially given what we paid. The starter (simple salad) as ok. The mains (spaghetti carbonara) was awful. Completely bland and tasteless, and most of the servings were extremely watery (as you can see in the pictures). The dessert was a tiramisu, which was claimed to be homemade, but after the meal in the fridge we found a plastic tray it’d been served from, which looked suspiciously like the plastic trays you’d get from tiramisu bought in a supermarket.

Overall, some good points but the core of the service was the food, which was poor
