Wilmot Faulkner, who goes by the stage name DJ WilSAF, is not just an ordinary DJ. A presenter and a radio and events DJ who is well known for his baritone voice and unique style of play, he is “The Master Selector”. Many would argue that he has exceptional intellectual abilities, which he uses to demonstrate his amazing mixing skills. Drawing upon over two decades of his extensive career as a professional DJ and radio presenter, I can say that he is extremely passionate about his work as a DJ/presenter. He first started expressing his love for music performance as a choir member at the age of nine in one of Sierra Leone’s most famous Wesley Methodist Church. After dedicating years to performing at the church, he decided to continue expressing his love for music, but with a different focus in mind—to be a DJ and radio broadcaster, which he started pursuing at the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation in 1996.
During his seven years of employment there, he served as an Announcer/DJ, assisting in preparing and announcing on the news hour and public notices. He also conducted and presented interviews and hosted live talk shows. After establishing himself as one of the most outstanding and prolific characters on the radio, DJ WilSAF continued his career at another well-known, reputable radio station, SKYY Radio (106.6FM) for nearly five years, where he continued his career as a DJ/Presenter and Production Assistant. He was partly responsible for organising live talk shows, conducting interviews, promoting the music and artists of Sierra Leone and producing and assisting editors with daily programmes and on-air advertisements.
It is also positively known that during the almost decade-long civil war in Sierra Leone, DJ WilSAF played a large role in organising a well-received Missing Person’s Helpline, which helped bring together desperate individuals wh
o were misplaced during the conflicts. Over the course of his career, he has also successfully produced jingles, providing voiceovers for various entities. DJ WilSAF is now recognised as an international DJ as he has built an extensive reputation DJing in numerous clubs and private events worldwide, particularly in European countries such as Belgium, France, the Netherlands and the UK.A few prestige clubs he had DJed for in London are Home House London, Strawberry Moons, Rainforest Cafe, Penthouse No1 Leicester Sq., Proud2 and Play Room.
Now, DJ WilSAF dedicates two days of his time on his Internet radio, HotBoxRadio.com hosting live radio shows on Monday nights (Night Ride 9pm-11pm) and Friday nights (The Weekend Starter 9pm-12am). Other than this, he is mostly booked for wedding receptions, graduation ceremonies and other private functions. With his excellent catalogue of music collections he can play various genes from the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, Now Dance, Afrobeats, RnB, Hip-Hop and many more. Besides his love for music and excellent talent DJ WilSAF is just a regular, friendly guy who is dedicated to his family. As a fact, he enjoys spending most of his free time traveling around the world with his family and close friends. When he is not traveling you will fine him relaxing at home watching football, basketball or tennis, as he is a dedicated Arsenal FC and sport fan.
