Everyone here has a very very important role in making sure that we deliver what we say we will. We don’t just employ seasonal people on a seasonal basis, the great thing about being busy means that in the main our staff are permanent and have been with us and stay with us for a long time.

Staff training is paramount and every member of the team is well trained and has a huge sense of pride in our offerings.

We have our own kitchens and are proud of the fact that we don’t provide processed food and everything that we can, we make from scratch. No microwaves in our kitchen! We have an in house laundry to ensure that we have control over the quality of our bed and table linen. Finally, we have a strong sense of fairness and value for money. We wouldn’t provide anything for our guests that we wouldn’t use ourselves and aim to provide excellent service for a fair price.

Newland Hall

Roxwell, Chelmsford, Essex, CM1 4LH, Chelmsford, Essex
£2000
Up to 200 guests
The Manor of ‘Newlanda’ belonged to King Harold before the Norman conquest, and was the only land-holding in Roxwell specifically listed in the Domesday Book of 1086. It was so named because it was created out of untamed forest on ‘newly won land’. The land was held by Eustace, Earl of Boulogne. At the beginning of the 13th century Newland was held by Ralph de la Neweland, and for the next two centuries it remained in the hands of his descendants. The first reference to Newland Hall (rather than just Newland) was made in 1447. Original records exist for Manor Courts held at Newland Hall from 1448 onwards. There is strong evidence that Newland Hall was one of the places of retirement for the lascivious King Henry VIII.

After the ceremony you may wish to enjoy reception drinks and canapés on the lawn whilst listening to a string quartet before receiving your guests for the Wedding Breakfast.

Due to exclusive use, all of the above options will be available to you. There is no requirement for you to commit to any particular location for the ceremony when you book your wedding with us. You can alter your ceremony plans any time – right up to the last minute!

We will, of course, ensure that contingency arrangements are in place in case of unsuitable weather.

A unique wedding venue in Essex, Layer Marney Tower has been skilfully adapted to meet the requirements of the twenty first century bride. You, together with your friends and family, may now sip champagne and nibble canapés where Henry VIII once strode.

We have been helping couples make their dreams come true for over 25 years and the single most important thing we have learnt is that every wedding is different. You may be sure that everyone at Layer Marney Tower will work with you to ensure that your wedding dreams become reality.

Ceremonies

As you walk up the aisle with your friends and family around you, the majestic beamed roof soaring above, and surrounded by history, you will be beginning a new chapter in your own lives.

At Layer Marney Tower Wedding Ceremonies usually take place in the Corsellis Room, which seats up to 120 guests, in Tuke’s Chamber which can hold 40 guests, or in the hall at the base of the Tower, which can accommodate up to 18 guests. The Corsellis Room has exquisite Mulberry hangings which form a beautiful backdrop for photographs and adjoins Tuke’s Chamber with which it shares an original wattle and daub wall. The Tudor and Jacobean panelling of the Hall of the Tower offer an intimate setting for smaller groups.

Receptions

People have come to Layer Marney Tower to celebrate Weddings for hundreds of years. More recently the wedding venue facilities have been upgraded to include running water, efficient heating and flushing lavatories! At this country house wedding venue we recognise the need to offer the best of the past and the past at it’s best!

Most Wedding Receptions begin with drinks and canapes in the lovely gardens and move into the Long Gallery for the Wedding Breakfast.

The Long Gallery is a stunning room, with a magnificent beamed ceiling, oak panelling and a polished oak sprung floor – ideal for dancing. With varying table layouts you may comfortably seat between 14 and 140 guests for your Wedding Breakfast and there is room for a total of 200 guests in the evening.

The grand Edwardian staircase, which you may decorate with your choice of flowers, foliage and fairy lights, makes an impressive entrance to the principal room. The historic Jacobean fireplace adds to the ambiance of the room throughout the year, acting as a focal point whether decorated with flowers or with log fire blazing.

If you are planning a smaller wedding without dancing then we have other rooms that are available at certain times of the year. Please contact us to discuss your Wedding Venue requirements and we will explore how we can assist you.

Leeds Castle

Maidstone, Kent, ME17 1PL, Maidstone, Kent
£8250
Up to 250 guests
Just a few months before Lady Baillie died in September 1974, she put in place plans to create a charitable foundation to which the Castle and grounds would be transferred, so that they could be preserved for future generations to visit and enjoy. Her lifelong friend Lord Geoffrey-Lloyd became the first Chairman of the Trustees of the Leeds Castle Foundation, and he set about ensuring the financial stability of the newly established charity.

An endowment of £1.4 million was invested and a further £400,000 was realised from the sale of furniture, so that improvements could be made to the Castle to attract paying corporate conferences. It was quickly realised that these alone would not support the ongoing costs of running the Estate, so in 1975 the gardens were opened to the public, and the following year the Castle was also made available to visitors.

The reputation of Leeds Castle as a leading visitor attraction and conference venue grew, and in 1978 it was chosen as the location for the Middle East peace talks that preceded the Camp David Accords of the same year.

Since then Leeds Castle has become one of England’s top tourist attractions and welcomes over 600,000 visitors a year, as well as hosting weddings, conferences and caring for the beautiful gardens and Castle interiors.
