"We are a Local Sussex Folk Band with a repertoire to suit many events particularly those where there is a wide age range like weddings and significant birthday parties. We mix traditional tunes with not-so-traditional songs to deliver an entertaining performance. We can provide a caller and PA system for dances if required. What do we play? This format consists of 2 outstanding musicians both main singers, one playing an amazing lead guitar and the other one playing rhythmic guitar. We have plenty of experience and know how to make of your event one to remember, with a vast repertoire to suit your party we are able to play from romantic bolero like 'Besame mucho, sway..' and traditional Mexican music such as 'The hat dance' to very upbeat music such as 'La cucaracha, tequila, desperado, la bamba, guantanamera, despacito, etc. for a performance of 2 X 45 min sets of music with a short break. Ceilidh Band For Parties

Kingsfolk goes out as a team of five; four musicians and a caller. Our lively music is ideal for Scottish ceilidhs and we have been bringing parties to life all over London for many years. A typical event for us starts when we play a few folk tunes to create an appropriate atmosphere. Then our caller (master of ceremonies) explains how a ceilidh works and he will call people onto the floor to start the first dance. We always start with a few easy dances, such as the Galopede or the OXO Reel and then, depending upon how many guests are experienced dancers, we may try more challenging dances. There are usually two sets of dances with a refreshment break in the middle. If the guests have their meal earlier, the break could be for cake cutting or for serving coffee. Each set of dancing is often an hour and a quarter long, but you may want to cut them down to one hour or even 45 minutes each. It all depends on your overall plan. At the end of the second set of dances, the caller will often try to get as many people as possible up onto the dance floor for a final dance, either a circle dance or Strip the Willow. Then the band will play a final instrumental piece which gives guests an opportunity for a bit of free dancing.

Ceilidh Band - 2 X 50 Minutes

We are able to teach well-known dances and we can play a mix of Barn Dances and other celtic songs for guests to dance to. Our Barn Dances are based on a Scottish repertoire such as the Gay Gordons, Dashing White Sergeant and the Eight-some Reel, with occasional other countries represented. We have a great deal of experience teaching novices, and understand that it is more important that people have fun and keep dancing, than the dances are perfect! We also play a variety of songs from around the globe for your guests to dance or relax to, between the Ceilidh dances. We have our own lighting and sound system which you are welcome to use to play your own music around our live set. We arrive one hour before our performance to set up our instruments, PA system and lighting. We then play two 50 minute sets with a short interval. We look forward to hearing from you. I don't live in London so I was nervous about choosing a band I hadn't heard play, but they sounded great online, and I spoke to Michael over the phone and on email about the type of party we were having and the music we wanted.
