Nancy's Bordello

3 Argyle St, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 6PF, Newcastle Upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear
Up to 50 guests
At Nancy’s we have a wealth of experience hosting private functions! And in our humble opinion we’ve gotten pretty good at it! In the past we’ve hosted all sorts: from super swanky wedding receptions to raucous work do’s, right the way through to cute & quaint christenings, and everything in between!

We have two areas to offer, depending on the size of your party.

Firstly we have a lovely function room upstairs which is totally private to accommodate you and your guests, this also comes with your own private bar and access to our rooftop terrace. There is usually a minimum number of guests required to book this room which is 75 people. During peak times (Friday/ Saturday nights) we have a £125 room hire charge and we also require a minimum pre-spend of £400 to be spent on food to book our upstairs room. There is a £100 deposit required to book the function room, as well as the £125 room hire fee if applicable.

We also have a lovely and quaint area downstairs that is perfect for smaller functions of up to 50 people. There isn’t a fee for this area or a minimum pre-spend, all we ask for is the £50 refundable deposit to secure this area for your party.

If you make a booking, we’re able to hold the room for up to 14 days to give you time in coming in to pay your £50 deposit (and £125 room fee if applicable). All bookings remain provisional until we receive the deposit and after 14 days we reserve the right to cancel your booking.

We also have an close relationship with our sister venues As You Like It, Florita’s, Madame Koo’s, House of Smith and Mr Lynch, so if you’re not ready to end the party just yet, let us know and we can secure queue jump into any one of our late night venues.

We can also cater for you and your guests with a variety of buffet options as well as drinks packages. Even if it’s not on the menu, we’re usually able to cater for any requests. From chip butties to pie and peas or delicious pulled pork sandwiches we aim to please! We’re unable to allow outside catering however you’re welcome to provide cakes or sweets for your guests.

Blackfriars Restaurant

Friars St, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 4XN, Newcastle Upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear
Up to 50 guests
Blackfriars was opened in 2001 by Andy and Sam Hook following on from the success of the critically acclaimed Sidney’s Restaurant in Tynemouth. The restaurant is now run by a team of exceptional staff headed up by Group Operations Manager Ruth Terrington, Manager Rebecca Blackith and Head Chef Chris Wardale.

Andy is originally from Cambridge and graduated in Physics at Swansea University where he preferred playing electric guitar and drums in rock bands, more famous for their pyrotechnics than the quality of music!

He then headed for the big lights of London where he watched Marco Pierre White open his famous first restaurant, Harvey’s in Wandsworth, a stone’s throw from his flat.

Four years on, and being attracted by the legendary nightlife, the increasing cultural activities, the seaside and Newcastle United, Andy moved to Newcastle to work in manufacturing and then shortly after met his wife Sam, a marketing and PR specialist who is now Marketing Director for Blackfriars and its sister restaurants.

Quickly tiring of the rigours of factory life and with a burning passion for entering the life of a restaurateur, he opened Sidney’s Restaurant in Tynemouth (since sold) followed by Blackfriars a few years later. In 2016 he opened Hinnies in Whitley Bay and Dobson & Parnell in Newcastle's vibrant Quayside.

The Tyne Bar

1 Maling St, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE6 1LP, Newcastle Upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear
Located in the heart of Newcastle’s Ouseburn Valley, the city’s cultural oasis, The Tyne Bar has been a local favourite for more than two decades.

Famous for its laidback atmosphere and an unwavering commitment to FREE live music, The Tyne Bar is the product of more than 30 years’ experience in the Newcastle pub scene…and we think the pedigree shows.

Operated by the same people who brought you the legendary Barley Mow and the Egypt Cottage in its pre-wine bar heyday, the pub boasts a signature FREE jukebox, a waterside location, and a distinctive beer garden framed by the redbrick arch of Glasshouse Bridge.

Our mission is to provide free live music for Newcastle. It’s our Free Live Music that gives The Tyne its heart and soul and we always have a full schedule of bands, singers and DJs with special events organised on Bank Holidays.

And, if you’re visiting The Tyne Bar when we don’t have live music on, our Free Jukebox rocks with some of the best alternative music that there is.
