Tips for Finding Your Perfect Wedding Venue

When choosing a dream location for their wedding, most people first and foremost want the venue to be beautiful and romantic. They imagine splendid flower installations, drapes, red carpets, balloons, photo walls, and fairy lights. However, you should also take into consideration certain pragmatic factors:

  • Location
  • Capacity
  • Price
  • Spectrum of services
  • Conditions of contract

Location is essential because it will help you economize on transport. Otherwise, get ready to cover transportation costs for your guests, photographer, videographer, performers, and whoever else you might need. If the location is superb but the capacity of the venue is limited, consider narrowing down your guest list. Of, even better, compile two guest lists: A and B. First, send out invitations to people from the A list. If some of them won’t confirm their attendance, proceed to the B list.

To secure the best price, try to book the venue 6-8 months in advance. In winter, the prices are normally kept at the lowest level, but they will be significantly increasing each month. Don’t hesitate to ask if the venue offers any discounts — and if yes, how can you get them. There might be, for example, discounts for weekday ceremonies or for booking the venue together with the catering. Quite often it happens so that booking a package with catering is more affordable than organizing food and drinks by yourself. When discussing the services, try to ask as many questions as possible. Is there a package that includes decor, entertainment, photo and video shooting? Can the price of the package change depending on the date, season, or some other conditions? Can the venue give you the contacts of some reliable service providers?

Make sure that all the information you discussed with the representative of the venue is fixed in a written contract. Never sign any paper without reading. Take time to attentively explore every line of the document, especially the ones typed with small print. Insist on including cancellation fees in the contract. Hopefully and most likely, your ceremony will go as planned. But in case you need to postpone it, it would be better to avoid excessive expenses. After you sign the contract, make several copies for yourself: print the document, take a picture of it and save it in your phone, ask the representatives of the venue to send it to you via email and diverse messengers.
