We also have 17 quaint, four-star, stone-built cottages at Darwin Lake, each with modern interiors and many with recent design by our interior designers. These can accommodate groups from 30 to 110 guests, meaning that you and your guests can all relax in the comfort of our beautiful surroundings for the duration of your wedding.


Set amongst the rolling hills and pine forests above the quaint village of Two Dales, Darwin Lake is three miles from Matlock and just 25 miles from the M1. Our enchanting grounds and contemporary facilities can be booked throughout the year.

The Stables is the perfect venue for your wedding with beautiful rooms for your ceremony and reception, designed by James Paine in 1758.

Chatsworth has a long history of hospitality and entertaining. The house has been open to visitors ever since it was built and has been the home of the Cavendish family for more than 450 years. Our civil ceremonies, civil partnerships and receptions are held in beautiful rooms situated in the impressive Stables courtyard.


Chatsworth couples really do make an entrance with exclusive access to the stables via Lodge Hill in their chosen wedding car or carriage.


The Hartington room is our largest ceremony space and has recently undergone a full refurbishment. The room is bright and welcoming and contains the original features from the stables. It is the perfect venue for our larger weddings, holding up to 80 guests.


The Racing room, originally the tack room, is perfect for smaller, more intimate weddings and is decorated with paintings from the Devonshire Collection.


If you are looking for something extra special, then the Chatsworth House wedding is perfect for you.


The spectacular Painted Hall is now licensed to hold civil ceremonies and civil partnerships.

Bakewell Town Hall

At Bakewell Town & Community Trust we believe that the Town Hall is part of the community. That’s why we are working hard to provide facilities and activities to suit a broad range of users.

We offer a special reduced, community rate for local community groups and charities to ensure that we remain at the heart of Bakewell. Our current users are wide ranging and we want to welcome new groups, so we’ve made considerable efforts to improve accessibility. With the improvements we’ve implemented Bakewell Town Hall can provide rooms for hire with quality facilities for both small and large user groups.


We have three rooms available for hire. Our smallest is the Bakewell Town Hall Council Chamber on the first floor, still used by the Town Council today. It can seat groups of up to 20 people comfortably and in some style. The Council Chamber is accessible by lift from the ground floor.


Our Bakewell Town Hall Court Room Gallery is our most flexible and popular space, seating up to 60 people. It has a small stage and also access to an induction hearing loop for our users who have difficulties with their hearing. Being situated on the ground floor, the Court Room Gallery provides easy access for visitors and also houses a permanent, but ever-changing exhibition of original prints by the Sheffield Printmakers, and features the work of a number of local Artists. The Bakewell Town Hall Assembly Room Theatre is our largest room for hire and can accommodate up to 200 people for a dance, or theatre layout to seat 165. As you can see in the photo to the right the Assembly Room Theatre has a large stage set behind what’s known as a proscenium arch. There’s also a lighting rig, making the Assembly Room Theatre a great venue for theatrical presentations and concerts. The room also boasts a sprung dance floor making it the perfect choice for staging an event where dancing is on the menu.

With so much to see, a visit to Chatsworth is a must see, as are the historic and lively towns of Matlock and Buxton, which are all in easy reach of Bakewell.


Close by to Bakewell is Castleton, famous for its spectacular medieval castle, and its caverns for Blue John stone.
