Highlights – Christmas Activities

DIY Christmas Games

Christmas isn’t complete without a little healthy competition. Whether you’re the charades champion or monopoly maestro, we bet you haven’t heard some of these alternative activities. These DIY Christmas Games are not only easy to organise, they are sure to leave your guests HO HO HO-ing, so check them out below.

1. Snowman Bowling ⛄

Stocked up on too many toilet rolls back in March? Not to worry! We have the perfect solution to your problems, use them in a game of snowman bowling. Stack the rolls up high and see how many you can knock down in one go!

2. Candy Cane Hunt 🍬

The classic treasure hunt with a Christmas twist! Hide candy canes, chocolate baubles or other sweet treats around for your guests to find. Leave them a treasure map or a few clues to help them along the way.

3. Christmas Cheer Pong 🍸

One for the adults. Think beer pong, and make it festive. Either use Christmas cups, a tasty festive tipple or even plastic prosecco glasses to get you feeling merry.

4. Pin the Nose on the Reindeer 🦌

Self explanatory really – All you need is a picture of good old Rudolf, some red noses and a blindfold. This game is really fun for the whole family.

5. Holiday Hoopla ⭕

Make a hoopla and watch your family get competitive. You could use cardboard tubes, tin cans or even Christmas crackers stood on end.

6. Yuletide Quiz 💭

Make a Christmas themed quiz for all of your guests to enjoy. Either organise to have a different round each or allocate a Quiz Master!

7. Christmas Bingo 📅

Bingo is always a crowd-pleaser, especially if there are prizes involved. Why not use festive themed pictures instead of numbers, it’s easier for the kiddies and it will keep the holiday cheer going.

8. Donut December 🍩

Hang some donuts on a string to create a new twist on bobbing for apples. Ask your guests to try and eat the whole donut without using their hands, it’s harder than you think.

9. Santa Sack Race 🎅

Sack races have been around for centuries, but have you ever thought of making it a little more festive? If you’re feeling more energetic, get inside Santa’s sack and hop to the finish line!

10. Pass the Parcel 🎁

Another favourite at parties, this game is not usually played during the winter holidays, so why not challenge your guests expectations and treat the winner with a fabulous Christmas gift.

Christmas Activities

Once you’ve exhausted your competitive side, you may want to relax and enjoy some alternative activities. Check out these suggestions to ensure you have the best few days with your loved ones 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

1. Bake and Be Merry 🍪

Christmas is the best time to restock the cookie jar. Get out your apron and get baking with your guests. Make easy sugar cookies, a lovely cheerful pie or even just a jolly jelly.

2. Wintry Wreaths 🌲

Wreathes start to pop up at the beginning of December, but if you haven’t yet got yours, why not make your own?! You can use holly, mistletoe and other natural foliage or even make one from spare tinsel and other old decorations.

3. Magical Movies 🎬

Christmas films are a sure way of getting everyone feeling jolly. Grab some seasonal snacks and your favourite PJs and you’re in for the perfect evening. If you want to take things up a notch, hire cinema equipment!

4. Bauble Designing 🎨

Get your creative hat on and decorate your own baubles with your friends and family this year. Use acrylic paints, stickers, non-plastic glitters or recycled items to make your Christmas Tree shine.

5. Fancy Dress 👯‍♀️

Why not make your party a fancy dress competition with a festive treat for the winner?! Host a theme – ugliest Christmas jumper, best Santa or even most creative snowman.

6. Beard Decorating 🧶

Got some hairy people in your life? Grab some miniature baubles and see who can make the best Christmas beard display.

Festive Food

Some people only attend parties for the food (though they won’t admit it!), so you would be silly to forget to serve any. If you’re not feeling like getting your groove on in the kitchen, why not hire a private chef for your Christmas activities?

1. Yule Log 🍫

The tradition of the Yule Log comes from Norway, when they used to celebrate the return of the sun by placing a log on the table. Now we get to eat chocolate cake instead, so why not treat your guests!

2. Antipasti Wreath 🌶

This one is so easy! All you need to do is change your simple antipasti board into a wreath shape to get into the Christmas spirit!

3. Miniature Tarts 🥮

Whether you want to go sweet or savoury, mini tarts and quiches should feature in your menu for all your Christmas activities!

4. Cheese Board 🧀

What is it about Christmas that makes us want to eat lots and lots of cheese? Make sure you have some nice options for your guests to pair with their wine.

5. Gingerbread House 🏠

The perfect Christmas food! Fun to make & fun to eat! Get everyone involved in this crafting masterpiece and let is sit as decoration for a couple of days before you dig in!

6. Tear and Share Tree 🥖

You’ve heard of pull apart sharing breads, now make it festive! Shape your bread into a Christmas tree or even Santa Claus for extra festive Christmas activities points!
