Info about Windwhistle Inn
The original building which houses the traditional bar dates from the 17th Century and was once a notorious haunt of smugglers, highwaymen, and cut-throats. It has a romantic ‘Jamaica Inn’ type atmosphere and local folklore has it that if you looked like you had money on you, you would be lured or dragged down into the cellar and your throat slit.
Since then the building has been extended to now include a separate restaurant area for quiet dining, a large bright & airy conservatory where the famous carvery is served and a function room ideal for weddings and other large parties.
All this is set in 5 acres of beautifully maintained gardens with plenty of outdoor seating and loads of space for children (and dogs) to run off their energy after lunch. Both indoor and outdoor games are available for everyone to enjoy.
There is plenty of parking in our very large car park but you are also welcome to use our bike parking and our horse parking as an alternative! Walkers and dogs also very welcome.
