FAQs
Please, describe your act or business in on sentence:
A slick, lively and infectiously energetic 7-8 piece party band.
What are the highlights of your career?
Ok, it sounds cheesy but, any time we play a wedding or an event it is a highlight for us, because we know just how special that day is. And being asked to be a small part of it is a great buzz for us. Oh, and the time we played with Peter Andre!
What kind of events do you usually serve?
Weddings, Coporate Events, Functions and Clubs
Who are your previous clients?
Various weddings Private Corporate Clients
How can event planners pay for your services?
Once you've contacted us, we’ll draw up a secure booking contract between you and ourselves immediately. You’ll need to pay a 15% deposit by bank transfer, within seven days. The balance is payable to us on the event date, by cash or cheque before the performance starts.
How long do you play for?
2 x 45 mins 3 x 30 mins Anything over 90 mins will incur a charge of £50 per 30 mins.
Do you have your own PA and lighting?
Yes.
Do you have Public Liability Insurance and PAT tested equipment?
Yes.
How much space do you require?
Please allow an absolute minimum of 1 meter across per person, but ideally 1.5 meters across per person. Allow 2 square meters for a drummer. EG: A 4 piece band with drummer, bassist, guitarist and vocalist will need an absolute minimum of 3 meters wide by 3 meters deep. If possible, we will need to be provided with a photo of the stage area.
My favourite tune is not on your list. Will you be able to play it?
You can send through a list of your favourite songs from our repertoire and the we will do our best to include these in our performance. Please bear in mind we may not be able to play all of your requests because we will need to consider dynamics, pacing and transitions between songs on the day. We might also need to make changes to the set during the performance to suit the audience. Your first dance. It's a special moment and we'd love to play a song for your first dance! Choose from any of our current repertoire or, for something a little more bespoke, contact us to ask. There is a £50 charge that covers the extra time needed for rehearsals to accommodate this. Feel free to make an input but let us bring our considerable experience to bear when finalising the actual play list for the evening.
How many breaks do you take? How long are they?
We usually take one or two interval(s) lasting 10-20 minutes and will provide recorded music so that you don't have silence. In our experience, intervals lasting longer than half an hour can interrupt the general flow of the night. Let us know if you’d like a longer interval, so we can arrange this in advance.
What is included in the quoted price?
The price we quote for a performance includes all extra costs such as travel, overnight hotel stays (if needed) and VAT, unless stated otherwise.
When do we start playing?
It’s usually best if we don't play earlier than 8/8.30pm. any earlier than this, it might still be light outside. Live music has more impact after dark, and your guests might not be ready to dance before this!
How do I book Up The Beat?
Easy. Take a look at our photos, listen to our audio demos, then submit your enquiry and we’ll be in touch to confirm availability and prices as soon as possible. If you’d prefer to chat, call Russ on: 07540 442740 or e-mail me at: audiosugar@outlook.com
How loud will we be?
Your guests might still be able to hold a conversation, but probably not without straining. We're always be happy to turn down if you'd like us to, though if it is too quiet, it can lose its impact. Also, please check if your venue has a sound limiter installed. We don't reach uncomfortable volumes, but if you've got any concerns about children or elderly guests, let us know. Please bear in mind that we can only be as quiet as a live drum kit.
