The BackTones are a 3 or 4 piece smooth instrumental jazz ensemble (no vocal) performing ambient numbers ideal to create that classy atmosphere for your event.
Ideal for early evening background music, or unobtrusive ambience throughout the evening for guests to relax and talk over.

The competitively priced lineup are always presented in smart/glamorous atire, an important part of the performance's jazz age evocation.
The lineup is made up of some of the finest jazz musicians on the London circuit, having all performed together at The Royal Albert Hall, St. Martin-in-the-Fields, Ronnie Scott's bar and other world famous jazz venues.
The ensemble are professionally covered with Public Liability insurance.
The trio line up is:
Piano, Clarinet, Double bass,

  • Do you have your own PA and lighting?

    Yes. We have PA and equipment for up to 200 people. Larger PA can be sourced if required. We can provide pin spot stage light directed at a table mounted 8" rotating mirrorball is a very simple but effective system that the outfit often employ. The classic ambience is in character with the period performance, and also has a modern dance floor flavour. If requested, it would be provided at no extra cost and may negate the expense of lighting hire elsewhere.

  • Do you have Public Liability Insurance and PAT tested equipment?

    Yes

  • How much space do you require?

    Minumum would be aprox: 1.5 square metres for PA, 1.5 square metres for drums, 1.5 square metres for digital piano and about 1 square metre per performer.

  • My favourite tune is not on your list. Will you be able to play it?

    An arrangement can be written and rehearsed. This is most commonly requested for 1st dance at a wedding. This is normally included in the quote for wedding performances, so there would normally be a discount if you chose a number from our existing repertoire. Otherwise there may be an arrangement fee required.

  • How many breaks do you take? How long are they?

    We perform 1 or 2 or 3 sets. Breaks between sets can be any length you want up to maximum 50 minutes.

We would be suited and booted in smart/glamorous period style atire. 
I can DJ 1920s-40s upbeat swing music between our sets from my laptop, and I'll throw that in for free.
