Hello there! Welcome to Special Event Tipis; Cumbria, Northumberland and Scotland’s Premier Tipi Hire Company
With bases in both Cumbria and Northumberland, Special Event Tipis provide fun and distinctive tents alongside a friendly and supportive service.
Whether you want to bring the outside in during the summer months or cosy up with warm skins and open fires on a snowy winters evening, our Tipis provide a warm neutral space for you to unleash your individuality!
Established in 2011 after our own Tipi wedding, we have helped over 400 couples plan their perfect day and have excellent links with venues, catering teams, florists, photographers and all things bridal. Whether its country chic, simple elegance or all out romance you are after we can advise, help and support you as plan your special day.

FAQs
Do you provide power supply?
The amount of power needed for your Special Event depends on things such as lighting, caterers and music. If plugging into a mains electric supply (ideally within 20m of the tipi) we can discuss the power needed to check its suitability. If your power supply isn’t guaranteed we can supply generators for your event. We prefer to use our generators as we know what cabling we need, what plugs you might need and where to get emergency generators if necessary!
What about marquee flooring?
We use our stiletto proof woven matting flooring in the tipis which reduces damage to the grass underneath the flooring. For events on particularly waterlogged ground, we can provide hard wood flooring which goes under the woven matting flooring.
What about lighting in your marquee?
Our lighting packages are really high quality and include 3 LED parcan down lighters and 3 LED uplighters per tipi. These are fully customisable in each structure in terms of brightness, tone and colour
Do you provide marquee heating?
Our fire pits look the part but they don’t give off a lot of heat and we wouldn’t recommend them as the only source of heating if it is a bit nippy! We can provide you with heaters for your event, which are very efficient and non intrusive.
Do you provide insurance cover?
We offer a damage waiver fee (2% of the total hire cost) that is automatically included into your quote. If you would prefer to provide your own insurance we can advise you on the amount of cover you will need.
Can you supply other things apart from the marquee?
We stock everything from event essentials to unique and quirky interior extras such as carnival lighting, antler chandeliers, wine box bars, shabby chic chesterfield sofa packages and wine barrel seats - everything to help make your event truly SPECIAL!
What are the colour schemes for the marquees and can they be changed?
Our Tipis have a completely neutral colour scheme, which when paired with our LED lighting sets gives you freedom to have any colour you want!
